Manitou MRT2540 telehandler tipping over and crashing.
Fortunately nobody got injured during this accident!
The Manitou MRT2540 is one of Manitou's largest telehandlers with a lifting capacity of 4 tons and a maximum lifting height of 25 meters.

Man could have recovered but probably had no clue how to operate it correctly
When it starts lifting, all the commands freeze,the overriding key on that machine needs a clear mind to find, it sits righ next to the chair on the left hand side. No way you can use it in few seconds
@@benjaminsagauif its in an overload situation the 2540 freezes things which would have a negative impact, however you could still retract the boom for example which would make things less worse in such a case.
The first mistake however was done by not using the supports, the machine goes up the full height without them but it's pretty unstable and not recommended to do that. A blown tire would be enough without the supports to tip it over, even if you did everything right.
@@simonm1447 you Can retract the boom, but with a delay of 5 seconds minimum, de-aggravating movements override the freeze, but with a delay of 5-8 sec.
If you find the override button/key , it does it instantly.
The fact he did not use the support legs it’s a rookie mistake,or one of overconfidence.
Nevertheless a costly mistake...
@@benjaminsagau it depends on the generation of the MRT. The privilege generation has no delay, the newer privilege+ (from around 2017 on) has some delay.
I tell you what you can use though is the outriggers, he would have had to press overide to get the boom that far out without the riggers with weight on, delighted this happened without anybody getting killed as it gets another dangerous operator off the sites @benjaminsagau

Retract and lower boom could have saved this machine. Some brains freeze in the heat of the moment. It's also obvious the machine isn't big enough for the work being performed.
It actually is, they have massive outriggers on there's the boom can go almost vertical and can be used as a crane. The only telehandler with a rotating table like a crain they also have remote control.
How about reversing and shifting the center of gravity. Its just like riding a wheelie or a stoppie

Well people,,, new machines have a lockout function,,,,when boom is overloaded so the operator would have not been able to retract or drop the boom in emergency without depressing a special button,,, its a daft system cause if it wasn't for that function this would not have happened,, so maybe if the designers were machine operators themselves than that lockout system would be better
The 2540 does not lower the boom any more in an overload situation, but it does things which are positive in this case like retracting the boom.
The first mistake was made by not using the supports, which gives you far, far more stability if you go up that high.
How the fuck do you even start there. 100 chances to save himself from this outcome before the video even started.
