A very very good Aberdeen Team in the making that went on to conquer Europe in 1983 beating Bayern Munich and latterly Real Madrid in the Cup Winners Cup Final. Peter Weir was an exceptional player who drifted past the opposition with ease. They also had a decent manager at the time!
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Payton Rhys Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great match. Never seen these highlights til now, thanks for sharing. I love Scottish v English club matches. I wish they would introduce a cup competition.
Went without a ticket. Sat in Aberdeen end behind Leighton's goal in 2nd half. Totally outplayed. Got pissed with a great Scottish bloke on sleeper back to KX
Peter Weir was vastly underrated imo wonderful player a winger in a way that doesn't exist in football anymore unfortunately. Nothing better than the rampaging winger running the touchline.
i remember the post match interview with Bobby Robson and Mick Mills They did not give Aberdeen any credit and were so arrogant in their assessment of why they should have won the game, I lost all respect for that man after that and thought what a p***k.
Interesting, because in Fergies biography of his time at Aberdeen, he says Robson told him after the match that he thought Aberdeen would win the whole thing due to their youthful pace.
Looking back at the English commentary nearly 40 years later I can't help but realise how ignorant they were. Good to see any English team getting beat by the Scottish👍
@@paulhollis8879 Listen again to the commentator, listen how he speaks of the English team players but has little or no knowledge of the Scots players names.
@@paulhollis8879 No offence taken, I literally can hear it in their voice. Little or no homework was made by them back in those days. "The goal keeper" 'The Scots" 🙈🤭😂 It was Jim Leighton who at that time was our International goalie. No offence taken, not looking for attention or grasping straws either my friend.
Is there a more undeserving penalty save in the History of football than Cooper's at the end? Rugby tackled Simpson (would have been a red-card these days, was he even booked?), and then saves after an easily dispatched spot-kick is disallowed for infringement.
Basically, Aberdeen destroyed them!!!! Liverpool the year before was a learning curve but boy did they learn.......In today's game, the keeper gets sent off for that rugby tackle at the end 😂😂😂😂 The retaken penalty would also not have been reataken......The result on the night in reality, was 4-1.....COYR!
ahhhhh ; the good old days . when players went forward towards to opposing goal - occasional square ball if it was better option - but none of this mind numbing back passing all day long to retain possession ( and then leave it to keeper to punt it upfield for a lottery ... ) seeing players actually running backwards with the ball and moving it back whole length of field from a corner is suckingt the life out of the game

@Payton Rhys It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
@Saul Jase you are welcome xD
I was at that game, fantastic night
Neale Cooper and Paul Mariner now passed, sadly...
Tavy@ aberdeen had a great team then, they hammerd ipswich who were great then to. Early 80s a magic time for scottish football!!!!!!
UEFA Cup , as Ipswich were holders having won it the previous May 1981. Spurs were the English CWC representatives having won the FA Cup in May 1981.
Great match. Never seen these highlights til now, thanks for sharing. I love Scottish v English club matches. I wish they would introduce a cup competition.
They already have in the past: the Anglo-Scottish Cup. It was shite.
So would I
What won't happen again? Burnley played Aberdeen in this very competition last month.
Thanks for clarification. You're right, those two tournaments have gone forever.
@Talorc MacAllan That's because they had one of the greatest managers of all time.

Fergie the best manager in the entire history of football
Remember , this was a very strong Ipswich side.
A masterclass by Strachan
it was an uefa cup match.
Great, unlikely teams!! Strachan getting a wee hug from Terry Butcher at the end… priceless!
Ferguson a genius in the making
1.00 I appreciate it when players don't protest an obvious foul.
Ipswich didn’t put up much of a defence of the uefa cup, out in the 1st round!. this was the beginning of the end for that great Ipswich team.

oh was a great night .. they could not handle us . stand free
Oh the good memories 😌

What was ignorant about it?
@@paulhollis8879 Listen again to the commentator, listen how he speaks of the English team players but has little or no knowledge of the Scots players names.
The B Absolutely don’t agree. I think you are grasping at straws and desperately looking for attention, sorry I meant offence. Or both.

Not the worst ive heard that'll be Clive Tyldesley but it did seem that the English commentators couldn't see past their own noses.

When football was better
La confrontation Fergusson Robson devait être interressante.
Shocking mistake by Wark for the penalty. Remember thinking of this result as a big shock at the time.

Uefa Cup, not Cup Winners Cup...
COYR!!!!
After Aberdeen outplayed Ipswich in the first leg at Portman Road the great Bobby Robson said Aberdeen could never play that well again. Oops.
Ah, yes, I remember it well
Ferguson v Robson

I saw a Ham Roll once
Where's Fergie?
Remember my Dad & Brother queuing for hours for tickets for the game.
Alan Brazil looking a bit trimmer back in the day
