Hello Mike,...I am now completely enthusiastic about Casio, also thanks to the company philosophy. Ralf Maten took me to the XWP-1 and you and the other employees to Privia PX-5S this month. This combination with the spreadable grease is absolutely awesome. Great work from you. Big compliment. All the best for you. Greetings
Twenty years ago...I comprised what I called PENTACHORDS. By that I mean playing whole pentatonic scales with the right hand as if it were a chord and 'arpeggiating' those notes . By using the guitar technique of "blues scale" blending with song keys (use the relative minor blues scale of the key of the song, for instance E blues scale for key of G, and so on...) and you will have several harmonically correct color notes to play over the chord (played by the left hand). This will make any piano chord player sound more versatile than by merely playing a chord with your right hand and a few bass notes with the left. I even printed up a workbook for my own use. But this was long before the internet and I have given away this advice for free for years. I was/am a guitar player first and I simply applied what has been a staple approach to guitar playing to the piano, organ and synth. YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
Mike, I am in awe of your skill everytime I hear you play. I bought my WK7500 4 years ago but still haven't mastered all of it's features. And now the New generation keyboards are out and I'm stuck with the old. Congrats on a very fine demo. Now when are you going to put an instruction course on DVD for us retired old-timers so I can make music like you??? 😷😷😷
2:53 sounds like Jeff Beck just came by and hooked himself in. Very impressive. But then, Mike is a master with these Casios. Every time I try to auditon another instrument for my collection-I go back to the 560 and XW and realize-I don't need any others (but I did pick up an obsolete Fusion-now I really don't need anything else, sigh)....The XW by itself-you can record a phrase, trigger it-while playing a multi-track arrangement with the sequencer, add an arpeggio and then play live over all that. I've owned one for years, I still haven't exploited 1/10 of its capabilities, and I've tried! The problem with the XW-it looks and feels like a lightweight toy so some have been dismissive as a serious instrument-but it sounds like a monster workstation with capabilities even some of the newest workstations do not have. The 560 alone can record 4 different hex layers in 4 separate tracks alone-or you can play 2 hex layers live on the keys as a split or layer-12 layers under your hands, pretty unbelievable and it works, I've done it. You want an 88-key XW-just connect a simple midi din cable to the PX5s or 560 and, whew!!! Now you will have 2 hex layer instruments to torture yourself with. Amazing.
Hi Mike, Excellent Job!!!!!, can you help me to create that guitar lead sound on my px560?... i mean, in a tutorial or just share the px560 preset in casio music forums... Thanks in advance!!
I'm pretty sure it's the PX-5s. It has a great preset solo electric guitar tone. The equivalent tone on the XW-P1 isn't nearly as good. Search for "px-5s guitar" here on TH-cam, in particular watch a video by Dave Penfold.
I just noticed that this is your own channel...very cool. Can you please make some videos with the new Privia PX-560? I am absolutely obsessed with this new keyboard and if I don't see some in depth videos on it soon,I may lose my mind!
It's all recorded direct into my computer. The PX-5S (bottom keyboard) does the piano, arpeggiated part then the guitar sound. The XW-P1 does bass and drums. The Streichfett does the synth string sound which I'm playing from the XW-P1.
Very impressive! Great job Mike! Was this actually in support of your day job, or do you actually believe in the gear you're pitching? Just a joke. I actually have decent respect for both the XW-P1 (bought one) and the PX-5S (which I've been eyeing since I sold my old Alesis QS8). Was just a little bummed the PX-5S didn't have aftertouch though...so it goes!
hello sir i have just started learning about keyboards from youtube since in my country western music is not that well appreciated. so finding a teacher who teaches piano is like finding a needle in an universe full of hey stack and i started my journey with ctk-3500. so i am a complete armature so i ask for forgiveness in the beginning for asking stupid questions. how did you u connect this 2 keyboard and what is the black device on the right side of the xw-p1 what does it do i want to know since my musical knowledge is not that good and my knowledge about keyboard and keyboard gears are very low also. and sorry for my bad english after all english is not my 1st language. and thank you in advanced for answering to my silly questions.
In a Performance select the solo synth for Zone/Part 1 and set the zone's upper and lower key limits. Set the upper and lower limits for Zone/Part 2 where you want them and set its MIDI out channel to match the input channel of the Streichfett. Set Gen Out for Zone 2 off and MIDI out on.
Mick I am starting to notice a patteren here. Casio seems to be useing a lot of the sounds that Roland and Korg use. Why not incorperate GM2 GS sounds in to your keyboards? I think Casio is ready for that to be done. Casio has come a looooooooooonnnnnng way. Your stuff use to sound and act like toys. Now it sound like pro gear. Lets do some thing about your arranger keyboards though. You was doing good with the wk3800 sires. But you slid backwards in sound quality but fowards in frachers. Good job on the feachers but bad job on the sounds and effects. The rythem styels are ok but lets add some more kick to it. Over all I would give you Casio a B+.
This video shows well what Casio XW can do, but it's pain in the a... to learn how to make it work for you, and then you're f... anyway because that stupid sequencer won't change the key. You need to program an entirely new pattern from zero to make it do it.
Your music making abilities are awesome, Mike!
Fantastic performance sounds very good well done thanks ⭐️⭐️⭐️🎧
Great playing and seq settings.......thank you!!!! I also have these two keyboards, soooo great machines..................love them
Awesome! I can't believe that's from a pair of Casio's!
Hi Martin. You've done a great job. I do not know who was so stuped or jealous to put his finger down. Thank you for that you played for us. /:-)
Excellent! As usual! The Streichfelt sounds great, but either Casio could have replicated that sound easily! Great performance vid!
Que performance linda! Parabéns. Ótimo gosto
Bravo 👏👏
Thank you for the answer. we are full of gratitude. Thanks.
Mike, this great!
jemgel thanks
Sounds great Mike!!!
Great jam!!

Muito bom o vídeo. Parabéns pela interpretação da música. 👍👏
Awesome!
i never knew about the 'Waldorf Streichfett'
what a great little interesting piece of gear

great work!
Excellent!!!! very nice!
Great sounds, good Mike , like ;-)
That was an awesome guitar-lead-like tone on px5s. Is that tone available at Casio Music Forum?
like my studio it is sitting there combine forces makes the sounds come alive!!!
Hi Mike nice chops! Waiting for the Xw p2! Will there be a sequel?
i'm gonna burn this to cd and play it in my car lol
sounds great
Like how you move out into space when the reverb/delay comes in on the arp.
Oh yeah - and gorgeous piano intro...
Show out that there Casio my brother. Thumbs up.
Nice!
Great music! All the instruments sound really nice. I was wondering what the USB cable from the PX-5S was for? Is it powering the Streichfett?
Yes the USB cable was powering the Streichfett.
Nice one Mike
Krewl Music thanks
Very cool

Sensacional!!!
Very nice and deep for the temporary Casio stuff ! Can I record any sequences on the PX-5s 's multitimbral?
Nice one!
👏👏👏
CASIO sounds very similar to the Korg Tritone Synthesizer Workstation and a blind of the Roland Fantom Workstation.
beautiful! epic. very nice. i am listening this over and over. which one of keyboards is making the solo guitar?
I'm pretty sure it's the PX-5s. It has a great preset solo electric guitar tone. The equivalent tone on the XW-P1 isn't nearly as good. Search for "px-5s guitar" here on TH-cam, in particular watch a video by Dave Penfold.
Your good. That's a great composition. By the what brand keyboard stand are you using.I love the angle that your keyboards sit.
Yes!!
I just noticed that this is your own channel...very cool. Can you please make some videos with the new Privia PX-560?
I am absolutely obsessed with this new keyboard and if I don't see some in depth videos on it soon,I may lose my mind!
This is really good and unexpected. What is the guitar lead sound from, what instrument/patch
Guitar is from the PX-5S. Variation on a factory preset.
👍👍👍👌
amazing improvisation.! really beautiful, congrats! .. does the Streichfett sounds so good?? the strings pad is grate!
Spotify?
Nice music! How do you connect two keyboards and with different sounds?
Each keyboard is going into a separate audio input on my interface. A small mixer would do the same thing.
Hello mike martin, as you recorded the two keyboards at the same time, some program? or are used both keyboards and drum sampler was made in which?
It's all recorded direct into my computer. The PX-5S (bottom keyboard) does the piano, arpeggiated part then the guitar sound. The XW-P1 does bass and drums. The Streichfett does the synth string sound which I'm playing from the XW-P1.
Cool! =D
I just have a question: how did you synchronize px-5s with xw-p1?
They were both just set for the same tempe. I they could have done MIDI sync but it wasn't needed.
Thank you!!
Is the bpm synced between both boards for the arpeggiating? Sounds great btw. I'm a board player/writer also. Got some stuff on my page.

Pode me informar qual cabo se usa para conectar um teclado no outro?
style
Esse timbre de guitarra é do Casio?
Hi, can you split the XW-P1 to control the streichtfett with one side of the keyboard and the solo synth section with the other side?
In a Performance select the solo synth for Zone/Part 1 and set the zone's upper and lower key limits. Set the upper and lower limits for Zone/Part 2 where you want them and set its MIDI out channel to match the input channel of the Streichfett. Set Gen Out for Zone 2 off and MIDI out on.
Alen K Nice! Thanks
Remind me 3d Mark 99 song ;)

It's so retrovawe! Next time get a solarization in magenta, cyan and white! Or put a CGA monitor somewhere!!!
How we connect them? Please respond.
With a MIDI cable
How did you connect them? Sorry?
If you ever got the connections, please let me know.
show.
What's the 2nd synth

You can use the keyboard to change the key.
@@mikemmartin I can make a car fly too, but an airplane is more suitable for the task.
фууууфф!!
Awesome!
