Wartching several weed burnning videos...no one addresses "how burned" the weed has to be to kill it and the roots. Does the plant have to be consummed, or just heated? Toasted, charred, wilted? Completely burning the plant takes a lot of propane.

How long/minutes does a 14-16 oz cylinder last?

At wide open burn I'd say ~30min

How long does this get rid of the weed before it grows back? Thanks

If the plant is small it may not grow back but if it does have solid root stock it can grow back a couple time before it finally dies. 1-2 weeks.

Any problems with the gravel? Pea gravel right? No exploding etc? Looks like your only holding the flame on the weed for a few seconds so, I don’t imagine it would be a problem. Also, what barrier, if any, is under your gravel? Thanks!

No issues there. We do have ~4" of compacted 5/8 minus and then under that is landscape fabric.

This looks awesome. Question...I'd like to use this for weeds/grass growing up in my decomposed granite. My biggest concern would be potentially damaging or discoloring the decomposed granite. Any experience using this on decomposed granite? I also have rock areas. On rocks does it leave any marks?

It doesn't leave any soot marks or discoloration on our concrete pavers and I would think your granite would be similar. I would just test a small spot before going full out...!

@@TheGRITandPolish Cool! I’m gonna test it on a small portion. Hopefully it works out. Greatly appreciate your video and the speedy response!

My older neighbor got this for me to use at her house. I set it up just like shown and the fuel is running but the damn thing wont light. Any suggestions?

I would troubleshoot by first verifying that propane is coming out the end by lighting a match or other flame source and placing it on a non flammable surface then bringing the end of the torch close to the flame an turning on the gas valve. If it lights this will confirm that all is well with the gas flow. Secondly check that the push button igniter is creating a spark in the barrel of the torch. First remove the gas canister, then in a dark room look down the barrel of the torch while depressing the blue ignition button to verify that a spark is created. If both of those results are positive then I would be truly stumped!

@@TheGRITandPolish The instructions said to only light with a flint lighter, don't have one, and was too scared to try a lighter or match. I took apart the igniter and it's powered but can't tell if it's sparking. Thank you for your help may just need to exchange it. You got yourself a new subscriber.

Mine did the same thing initially, you might have the gas turned up too high to light it? I turned down the gas to just barely open, and it lit no problem. then turn it up full.
