I do wild camping trips as often as i can. And usually alone. For me it is the perfect way to calm down. We spent most of the time covered in cotton wool. Perfect beds, regulated central heating, cars with air condition. But outside we feel something. The wind, temperature, the smell. Feeling alive :)
Fab video and gorgeous scenery footage 😍 Totally agree that a night wild camping lets you escape all the “rubbish” going on! Hope your energy levels are back to normal 👍X
Awesome video! The views from the summit at sunrise are amazing. I hiked Stob Ghabhar and Stob a' Choire Odhair with my dad last year, it's a beautiful part of Scotland.
Fantastic videography and photography Ray. You really captured the beautiful light conditions that we are blessed with a this time of year in Scotland. If your troll Jim had his way, you wouldn't have taken your cameras and those beautiful images would be confined to your own memory and not shared with the thousands of people who appreciate them. Keep creating buddy!
Thanks for this Ray. Scotlands Mountains gave you mention, so came here to have a look. Just Magical. Very calming. Going to enjoy catching up with your previous posts.
Hi, what a stunning video, thank you for sharing, I can relate to your love for the outdoors and how it helps with your mental health, I have recently started my own channel with the aim of inspiring others to have there own adventures and to share my love for the outdoors, I was diagnosed with PTSD a few years ago and have found the outdoors and nature the best remedy, thanks again and best wishes for the new year.
Most of what we do day to day is baggage weighing down and suffocating our natural instincts. All we need is food and shelter to stay alive but somewhere along the path of evolution we have completely lost sight of what it is to live. Being out in nature allows us to be human again and not a machine. This video portrays that so well.
Thank you so much for those stunning images, absolutely love your vlogs in the Scottish mountains, breath taking scenery, thank you for taking the time and effort to share them with us.
Thank you for a very beautiful and very relaxing video.Stunning views.Near the start of the video when you are standing looking at the two hills , there are two big majestic stags standing in the foreground setting the tone nicely.Well shot.
Taking up a wee half size hot water bottle that has a jacket is absolutely fab, lasts for hours and will keep warm most of the night not only tucked in the jacket watching sundown but also in the sleeping bag for the rest of the night! Much safer too :-) I get the fear when I see fire near a tent and have reason to be uneasy,, I nearly set my tent on fire where I foolishly allowed a flame from my stove to catch dry grass when boiling water.... (it was doing the Cape Wrath trail). Never moved so fast, tent was fine but my foot was scalded (had the boots and socks off) and it could very easily have been a lot worse. Bandages and first aid kit came in handy. Thats a great video tho and you are so right about taking time out. Well well worth it.
Some lovey night scenery with the sunset. I’ve been up at the bridge of itchy many times but never seen it from this angle. Thank you. I last watched your channel a couple of years back. Seeing it evolve and seeing your new videos, you’ve really put a lot of work and effort into it all. Really great stuff. Maybe I’ll see you out on the hills soon 😁
Hello Ray. So I have always been a canal or coastal walker but your vlogs are allowing me to see such beautiful scenery I may have to venture upwards! Always very chilled to watch so helps me relax. Thank you.
What a relaxing watch that was Ray!!, you're a cracking raconteur and I particularly appreciated the photography,as usual we could tell you put the time in on your vlogs, great audio etc. Best wishes old chap.👍
Another good one Ray, Im like you I prefer to solo wild camp its good for the soul as you say & to just get away from everything, camped with groups in my younger days but now prefer to get away by myself and just have peace & quiet. Your stove is not too dissimilar to one Ive used for years, I learned about it in the Gulf War they were called Benghazi burners, tin can filled with sand and impregnated with fuel, they burn for hours and kept us warm, I now use a smaller version on my wild camps in winter, basically a small bean tin which has sand in it and impregnated with some petrol, let all the liquid spill out the sand so it is just damp then fill the can & seal in a carrier bag, weighs the same as a normal tin of beans and will burn for hours, as you say only use in open areas and never leave a naked flame alight around the tent, it is for warming hands & also used it to heat some water for my sigma steel bottle which I fill with hot water & place inside my sleeping bag.
I love that you have so many areas available for this type of camping, Australia is not set up like this, well certainly not near Sydney. So hard to get away and be truly by yourself which is why this is so special to watch.
Excellent video of an area I have walked and kayaked. Fabulous sunset and amazing sunrise plus cloud inversion. You looked so peaceful and relaxed in the hills, as always. Thanks
Thank you for sharing Ray, cracking photography as usual, beautiful setting. These films will keep my appetite going intil I get back out there. Can't beat a night on the hills...
Nothing better for the soul than a solo, awesome as usual! That audio book is good, certainly get your money’s worth. It’s really long. Stay safe. Hardy
In these crazy times a night or two in the wild is a perfect antidote to the stress and worries that many of us are experiencing and it's good to see you promoting it with a personal insight and some lovely photography. BTW, it looks like you're moving a lot easier now so I hope the femoral artery issue has resolved itself. Stay safe and well mate.
They are Mammut Kento Guide High boots and are my winter boots I have just got. So far comfortable and no blisters :) Not sure how they will fair in really cold weather but will soon find out.
I camped up at Loch dochard on the 10th October the mountains around looked amazing and the wild life is fantastic all you can hear is the dears when heading back there was a lot of people doing the mountains that you were on and once again great content buddy

@@RS.Outdoors Thanks, they look great, do they come up true to size or did you need to go a half size up? I see Mammut do a ‘Kenton Pro’ B2 boot as well 🤔
Really enjoyed that Ray. That hobo stove looks like a great wee idea for the winter defo. I've got Raynauds syndrome which mostly affects my hands. This could be the answer to getting a few more shots before my fingers are unusable lol loved the tent shot with the milky way. cheers, Graham
