This happens all to often with companies installation instructions and how to videos. I glad that you have pointed out the shortcomings of them. It would be very interesting to see if they have anything to say regarding their how to video. Great work 👍🏻👍🏻
after 2 years did the door leak? as you said the door rubber holds the panel in place, really the seal wants to contact a smooth painted part of the door.
I have just fitted one of these.. I dont understand why you thought it was poppers on the install, he clearly says and shows on the video once in place to secure it with tech bolts pointing to each area..., the section of the video you have used even shows him doing this....along with pointing to the screw points as he explains how to secure it, the tech bolts do not need pilot holes either, the tech bolts cut through the plastic easily, it is literally a 10 min job
The first generation of these were popper install (the initial video I watched) the next generation moved to the screw install. Van shades have since removed the original video hence your confusion. For the pilot holes that is totally a preference thing, I found the self tapper was walking around on the paintwork, a small pilot hole stopped this in my case.
To be fair to Vanshades all the other fitting videos show exactly how to fit their pods and he clearly states it has to be fixed in the same way with the screws provided
Yeah I've seen them since, I guess I just got unlucky with the video I watched. However, they should for sure remove the video that shows incorrect fitting methods to avoid any other confusion, I can't think of a good reason to still have that video live.

Did you treat the holes the tek screws made in the end? Not sure they’re made for screwing and unscrewing, does it make the holes bigger?
