The tomalley is full of flavour. You take all the shells after and you cut it up and make a great bisque with it with a dry white whine, butter and cream. Yumm!
Sapporo was the last place I visited in Feb 2020 before travel restrictions… will always visit Jyogai seafood market to have breakfast and Sumire Ramen .. they have their own 7-11 Premium Gold Instant Ramen
I went to Hokkaido in November 2019. I actually had some snow as well. The food was awesome in Sapporo and I managed to go visit the Nikka Yoichi Distillery and learn how whisky is made.
@@JapanbyFood It was cool. I've gone to Osaka and Kyoto a dozen times but never to Hokkaido. Switching from the Shinkansen to a local diesel train was kind of different
As always, Shizuka does a great job in bringing the enthusiasm to make these dining experiences that much more interesting. On another note, is there a region of Japan that is known for having spicier food than the rest of the country? If so, what region is that? Thanks.
Don't miss to go to the Sapporo museum area where they have buildings preserved how Sapporo looked in the early 1900s. It is several football fields big and very impressive especially the newspaper building with thousands of kanji , hiragana and katakana letters in it. ;-) And don't miss the ice cream in Sapporo but skip the hairy crab it has a weird texture and the flesh is very tasteless on its own. Blue crab or king crab are way better.
In Australia we don’t eat much mutton is older sheep has a stronger taste. So we eat lamb chops and roast lamb. Mutton is much darker meat so that’s how you can tell them apart plus the smell is different. If you ever get a chance please try it specially lamb chops
Hi from Scotland hope you're all safe and well my friend...mutton needs to be cooked long & slow my friend... Am a chef trust me if its cooked well & in the right way its just as good as lamb chops... Stay safe my friend 👍✌️😉
Hokkaido is actually relatively young as compared to the rest of Japan as it only became part of Japan around 150+ years ago. Before that, the native tribal group of people living in Hokkaido is called the Ainu.
Not exactly. Depends on your definition of Japanese. Matsumae-han (松前藩) was in Hokkaido from 16th century-ish. And all Japanese from Hokkaido to Okinawa inherit portions of Jomon DNA. Ainu is a fusion culture of Jomon and Okhotsk people that emerged around 13th century.
Hi.. may i know which shop has the best value for money jingisukan? Quality wise n price... The sapporo beer garden, or daruma 5.5 or sapporo genghis khan izakaya?
