I can imagine how silent and lonely it must be for Emily to eat all alone during the week with Richard gone. Must be very sad for her.

I think thats what they wanted to show when they showed that she kept the same maid for so long. She need a consistent person to stay around with her.

It honestly makes no sense that Emily doesn’t know who Kirk is. In the original series she knew who he was. They had several conversations together. He was the one who originally told her Lorelei was dating Luke

This is a recurring problem in the series, which is very annoying. Emily knew Sookie, she organized her wedding for a while, but Lorelai asks her in season 6 if she remembers her.

Daddy issues, mainly, I think and without her mom, her grandparents, and stars hollow the real world was too much to handle. Or she did do what she set out to do and peaked with her New Yorker article and didn’t know where to go from there so she wavered and, ultimately, returned to her mom, her grandma, and Stars Hollow and got the inspiration for her book. Life is tough and change a person. Rory was 21 when she set out to do her thing and 10 years later her biggest accomplishment was the New Yorker piece. After realizing that, she was thrown. That’s what I think. 🤓

Emily was always a great host. She was willing to pay for anything with the condition that she gets a Friday night dinner. She was no fool. How hard would it be knowing you love someone who doesn't want you but the want your money and just taking what you can get to be with them? Then they take the piss out of the food each week! For years! And Emily swallows it and holds her own because she just wants that dinner. But they also take the piss out of her for holding maids and cooks to high standards. Obviously I don't think Emily treats staff as she should but they not pick and make Emily worse. Emily's made her mark in that society with party planning as gas Lorli in her field. As I have aged I feel for Emily. She was the heart and backbone of it all

@@lauriecarson6483 well, I do believe that Lorelei was acting as everything was ok and everything was as it should be in Rorys live. But that is not true. Rory was struggling and not in a good place mentally. Lorelei seemed to ignore that. Emily on the other hand noticed and addressed that Rory was struggling and called her out on that. BUT neither Rory nor Lorelei seemed to realise.
Yes it is true, sometimes people are homeless. 'It happens', yes, true to that, but it should not. It is hitting rock bottom. And that is was Rory did. She just had the benefit of a family she could run to and who was giving her a place to sleep and that gave her food (and maybe clothes and books?)...Rory had luck she had someone she could fall back on, not everyone has that. Otherwise Rory would have been on the street. Maybe Rory would have realized the tragedy of her situation then?
AND being homeless is horrible and should not be accepted as 'that happens'.
