I remember driving to the Nürburgring a few years back to experience this coaster, only to discover that the coaster wasn't operational at the time. They didn't mention it anywhere and my 6 hour drive was for nothing. My frustration never really recovered lol
I'm probably the only one that loves the long straight sections. I bet it's awesome flying through the indoor area with that speed. Wish they didn't have to brake it before the element either... I also wish it was still open... Love Rent4Ring! Got a car from them a few years back! Would do it again in a heartbeat!
While the ride is incredibly uncreative, that launch, if the coaster still ran today, would be the second highest accelerating coaster launch in the world, second only to do-dodonpa (acceleration, not speed). I'd have loved to ride it just for that launch.
JG-77 That's why I miss HypersonicXLC at Kings Dominion. Like Kingda Ka is an extremely intense ride but HypersonicXLC seemed to have a faster acceleration. It's ashamed that ride didn't last long either.
@@visionist7 it was designed with an acceleration from 0 to 217 kph (its intended top speed) in just 2.5 seconds, which would have made it the second fastest coaster in the world (behind Formula Rossa; the tallest coaster, Kingda Ka, is the third fastest). However, the ride was detuned to 160 kph max speed, after a major incident during testing at full speed (the pneumatic system exploded, which shattered windows and injured 7 people). The 0-160kph acceleration still took place in under 2 seconds, double the acceleration of a real F1. Sadly, Ring Racer permanently closed in 2014, only one year after its effective opening in 2013, as the delays and extra costs rendered the ride unprofitable. :(

The deconstruction would cost a lot of money. So I think this is the reason why it still exists. In my opinion this rollercoaster still looks cool. So I absolutely don't mind the rollercoaster, when I visit the track.
My emotional journey on this ride: -Oh cool, downhill winding part, like hatzenbach and friends. -(noticing the launch track) oh the first straight before that left followed by 3rd gear hairpin -(noticing im next to the front straight of the gp track) oh, ok i'm not on the nordschleife - great launch - oh cool we're inside, but just a straight line? - oh come on the gift shop??
In Germany, there is the "TÜV" who gives the permission to operate coasters. Well, the ring°racer opened on October 31st, 2013, and closed on November 3rd, so, now, it would need many, many hours of maintenance for being safe again
The launch looks sick, but the rest of Coaster is eh. 🤷♂️ But here’s what I have a problem with: THIS ROLLER COASTER WAS AN ABSOLUTE CATASTROPHE! The fact this project was delayed for many years, having a canceled speed record thanks to a violent explosion from the launch system injuring 7 people, shadiness behind the accident and development, and the coaster only operating for 4 days is unbelievable. This was an absolute disaster and a total embarrassment for Nurburgring. So much time and money just wasted as a result of this coaster. Well at least this operated 3 days longer than Twist Coaster Robin...
Both TCR and Ring Racer were actually built by the same manufacturer (S&S-Sansei)-they are the only two coasters from this manufacturer to have run for less than a week. The incident at TCR (two cars colliding) didn't cause any injury though, due to the much lower speeds on that ride-yet the park still never reused it. TCR is, I think, the only coaster to have had the infamy of being permanently closed on the very day of its grand opening...
Sorry for the late reply but I don’t hate S&S at all as they have built some amazing coasters in the last decade. Maxx Force at my home park Six Flags Great America is basically the air compressed launch coaster done right. S&S being involved with the drama behind the failure of this coaster is a just kind of embarrassing.
@@arthudk9473 Really: I live 20 minutes away from the nürburgring and it has been pure luck, I've been very respectful in front of the and I thought, that it would blow my mind away for years. It had been a strong "pressure"-feeling on the chest, but cause of "shortness", a normal rollercoaster-ride brought me more fun. :)
