I feel like, because your format is vlog style videos, it's like prime for not needing to finish projects in a single video. I imagine people watch because you're funny and engaging and your life is interesting just as much as they watch for the crocheting. You could make this top a 10 part series and I'd still watch every episode!
when i used to make plarn i folded the bag in quarters to cut the strips, it made it so much easier! i don’t know how to explain it well but you fold it one solid side to the other and then in half again the same direction. great video as always 🫶
dont even worry about the video having to be two parts. I've been watching your videos more since you've started including vlogs of your life as well and the combination makes it very enjoyable, whether there's a project results or not.
It's a resourceful people thing. We also kept and reused plastic bags growing up to line small trashcans, etc. I still do it to this day. They always come in handy.
I didn’t realize people did NOT keep and reuse plastic shopping bags! I’m in Canada, and they’ve been phased out. When my stash runs out I’m going to have to buy liner bags, which seems worse than just reusing grocery bags…
@@esthermcafee5293in my household we have dealt with this by dumping all the small garbage into a big garbage, so the shopping bag stays in the little cans. (applicable to dry garbage only ofc, nothing w good or gross stuff)
@@twilafreek25 I call them ikea bag even tho they aren’t from ikea, but I have never seen people just leave their liner bags around before that sounds so wasteful considering there built to be reused that’s so confusing.
Its not just SoCal, not just Immigrants, we all reuse those bags or ended up with ridiculous amounts of them in the closet, under the sink or wherever they were stored. This should be interesting.
Yooo, this is sick, you are the best 💕 In fact I'll tell you: do as many parts as u want! I love series and long videos so take your time and don't pressure yourself, take care of you and your mental health! You are your number one priority baby girl 🥰❤️🔥
I’m convinced that “having a plastic bag full of plastic bags is a [insert in-group of people] thing” is just another version of “people in [your city] are such bad drivers!” or “here in [your state], if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes!”…that is, something that seems to be pretty ubiquitous/normal, but somehow everyone thinks is unique to their community lol
I crocheted a lot of stuff from plastic bags it’s time consuming but I love it because I’m eco friendly and it always turned out well. Happy to see that you made a video out of plastic bag 🥰.
there is another method to cut plastic bags into plarn. you basically can just cut a spiral out of the bag so you would end up with thin yarn strips (you would still have to connect them tho) 💕 love you
While the consistency is great don’t let that put a mental or physical toll on you because it won’t work great if it continues long term . Just keep doing you and we’ll support you 🩵
when i was 8, we learned to create plarn at school and crochet with it. it was my first time crocheting and it was evil! plarn is not for the faint of heart!
I'm Black American and ALL of my Black Am friends and family ALL have a plastic bag full of plastic bags in the cabinet or pantry. 😂😂 Maybe it's just a thing, but then again, we're all immigrants. It's only my Native friends who never had that growing up. 😂😂😂
I like the see through crocheted look of the petals but also kind of interested to see how it would look melted. Maybe try making a small petal to test melt and see if you like it first and go from there
Omg queen I rlly thought abt doing this so many times but I thought I was crazy!!! I also used one of those spools of ribbon u can get from the dollar store!! Doesn’t look as nice but I think my gauge was off you could probably do a way better job :)!
I saw a video where someone made yarn from a shirt and instead of tying loops together they just cut strips but not all the way to the end so that the fabric was still connected at the end and it just made one really long strand
Omg also ps you could’ve cut one side of the bag as it was like already tube-like to make it a flat sheet. Then you could zig zag cut across the whole thing to turn into into one long strip. Does that make sense? Idk I could probably write that in a more easy to visualize way but it looks like you already did it the harder way so it doesn’t matter 😹 Edit: tbh the way the plastic doubles up with the loops makes it look way better ignore me you definitely did it the right way lol
I am a serious plastic bag hoarder, and I have no idea why. I don't think my parents even did it, I just always think I'm going to need them for something haha
There charities around the the crochet plastic bags …they make bed mat for the homeless they awesom for them.im from Australia..something to think about x
Did your grandma really teach you to do it that way? It looks a lot more straining and time consuming. With the way I was taught, it only takes an hour to make a 6 inch-ish wide plarn ball.
OK, I have several problems in the first two minutes of your video. My first problem is that you think that only immigrants collect plastic bags. I am not an immigrant, and I don’t know a single person who does not collect the plastic bags and reuse them. My next problem is that you used expensive make up wipes instead of cheap paper towels to do this with. Why would you waste those expensive little circle things? And finally, why would you even wonder if using the acetone would damage your manicure? You must know that acetone is meant to takeoff nail polish. Even if you have UV paint on your nails, it can make it mottle and will eventually take it off.
ah ah☝️ it's actually an asian thing. my family didn't move to a different country the last time I checked. we collect plastic bags and eco bags. our drawers are full of it! 😅
One video a month should be subscriber provided like an idea that requires the subscriber to send in something sully and you critique it because again making a video a week is fustrating no one wants to see you burn out and just commenting on what people send in should be an easy video to put out i hope

@esthermcafee5293 those reusable grocery bags are also made of plastic and I see them littered around all the time too so what are we helping? 😭

i feel like a corset style top would be good made of plarn, since its stiff and you could wear it over clothes, it could turn out interesting.

I saw a video where someone made yarn from a shirt and instead of tying loops together they just cut strips but not all the way to the end so that the fabric was still connected at the end and it just made one really long strand
Please keep the crochet texture!! I feel if you iron it it would defeat the pourpes of all the croching
I think the bag thing is an EVERY family thing 😂 my white family has been collecting bags for yonks 😂😂
was that picture reference of a flower top crocheted? I can't seem to find anything like it by searching... I want to try making it if possible 👀
Actually the green shade is pretty cute. It looks kind of minty. It doesn't come off lettucey from the video but lettuce can be cute too lol

okay but hear me out: spray paint👀
like you could do a pastel gradient or even gold?? if the colour leftoverson the bags still bother you
I would definitely have tried soaking the bags in a acetone water mixture. Less rubbing lol. Though you would've definitely needed rubber gloves 😅
I come from Poland and in my country I also keep and reuse plastic bags. My grandmother had plastic bags older than me 😂😂
Love ur video ❤

I’m only in the beginning of the video but you mentioned the playarn was stiff and I was thinking that it would make a cute suit blazer…..
oh , now i wish we would still have plastic bags , but we dont have them anymore ....
Be careful. Acetone will take the shine off your wood floors too.
23 minutes in ayyyy ❤
If it helps with time stress at all, you could alternate doing a yt vid biweekly and doing a crochet-long livestream in between. Less editing?
I'm trying to figure out what to crochet with my velvet red yarn😭 but I have SOOOOOOOO many plastic bags
Can you maby dye your paddels a different color? Then they May look more like flower leafs. ❤?
Is it just an immigrant family thing to sit in the floor while doing stuff? Cause SAME 😂 2:33
Acetone can damage the finish on your floors!
Yaayyyy
Bro I am American and live in Indiana and my whole family collects plastic bags to reuse! Perfect for bathroom trash cans! Lol😂
Literally everyone saves and reuses plastic bags

When you said stiff I thought a corset. Maybe another time?

It's not an immigrant thing. We've been doing that too, and our whole family is German living in Germany.
