No more 3rd party software plugins for me! I just use stock logic plugins now and it has changed my life. No more updates, no more worrying if software will work on Apple silicon and also saving lots of money in the process!
Super quick review. I think i'm on version 11. Must admit i do still like the immediacy of switching on hardware....it must be my age. But you can't argue with the range of sounds in Komplete.
I have just received an Elektron Syntakt, which is super fun and ordered the Roland J-6 which sounded awesome. I am also downloading Komplete 13 as I type this comment. The current discounts on the NI website are insane! Cheers for the great overview. I think I had Kontakt a long time ago when I had Cubase 5.
I got interested in NI and Komplete after seeing Hans Zimmer's live Pirates of the Caribbean concert where he uses 2 NI keyboards and software. He has a regular computer keyboard and monitor to his right, plus 3 smaller monitors in front. He's not using a notebook computer so it could be either a Mac or PC. He goes back and forth from these to a regular upright piano. NI is having a 4 day sale so I need to decide pretty quick. I'm somewhat new to keyboards coming over from guitar, and thought it would be great to own just one high quality midi keyboard and just use different piano modules from Nord, Yamaha, Roland, etc. Of course since the modules are not available NI's setup is the answer.
Great vid Jack. I'm probably old like your dad. Loved the story. I've had a hybrid system for years but like the streamline workflow of laptop/master controller...when you said you have no hardware synths it may have finally given me the impetus to go (almost) entirely in the box
If I want to get into playing with virtual instruments on my Mac, what software would I need to run on the mac? I also have a Nord Piano 5. I dont know much about virtual instrument softwares. Are they separate from music production software like Logic Pro?
Jackie boy great video and the sounds are insane! I’m coming from a complete hardware world and have no idea how to get into the plug in game. I really wanna check out komplete and the arturia V collection after watching your videos. Could you make a video about what you need to get started in that world? What gear you need, How to hook it up, how you would use it live, and some tips are tricks. Great video as always, cheers mate!
I have both and love them. Certain hardware from both companies comes with included software bundles that are really nice. Both companies make excellent midi controllers that come with great software. Check it out!
just get arturia and leave komplete for another day if you need it. arturia is a dream to use, the user interface / library system is slick polished and easy to use. you can rate patches so you can immediately go back to them. and its a faithful sounding selection of amazing synths. whereas komplete is a wierd car boot sale of audio that someone else has recorded and put through various treatments (granular / fx etc) then are regurgitated at the users command. using komplete to me feels like someone else has done half of the work and youre just compiling it all together then mixing it.
Jack just a small correction Komplete 13 does not come with Electric Sunburst Deluxe, only the original version (doesn't have the Deluxe tagged to it). I wish it did with Komplete 13 (with Jay-Bass or something), then it would be a really good pack.
This video actually made me question my resent investment Hydrasynth Deluxe / Novation Peak combo. Bought Komplete 13 Ultimate CI earlier this year. (And am filled with lots of VST's like Aturia V collection, Serum, Sylenth1 etc etc) But I do love the poly aftertouch. But it's quite expensive I realise even more now, cause I hardly had a look at Komplete.
when you buy komplete, you cannot work for a week or even more that's my experience with it i was falling in love with any instrument that i loaded actually any fu()_)*ing instrument but the noire (pure) and electric sunburst are my specials love them more than any vst inst that i had or have
I tried asking... They wouldn't say. So I upgraded anyway from 10 ultimate to 13 collectors edition for such an insanely good price. I don't use the effects plugins really as I've got so many but as a composer the upgrade was so, SO worth it
Hi can anyone please help. Wanting to buy kontakt 13 ultimate collectors edition but want to know if my computer specs will be able enough to run everything smoothly and efficiently before I do. I have a macbook pro 13 inch 2020 laptop with the m1 chip. It has 8gb of RAM and 512 gb of ssd. I also have a seperate 2tb hard drive to store the software. Will all of this be enough ? Or will I come into some issues when using it ?
reason was now you get update 14 total cheaper 499 than full price 13 1799 and if you pai 899 from 13 LOL yeah its all profit for them.same another things that could use make what allready have on your library but you never used them bcoz too many LOL bcoz they are basically same. this is sound this is how change it
Here are two reasons you do not need K13: 1. The HD in the boxed version does not contain all the software, and you're still dependent if their servers work, to download the rest of the things you purchased. If they bunkrupt you're effed bigtime! 2. When you download the rest of you "boxed" software from net, once a product is installed, Native Access deletes the installer (because owing staff you buy = bad), so if you have a 30Gb sampling library you need to download it again. Nope sorry... Not for me
I will swap you £6 and the last fish fingers in an otherwise empty freezer, along with some real butter, and the last three slices worth of a fresh loaf of bread, plus your choice of condiment. At 12:45am. After a night out. Do we have a deal?
i stopped using komplete due to the bizarre collections of totally unrelated stuff. like when am i ever going to need a collection of chinese percussion sounds or random collections of kitchen pots and pans being banged and squeezed through a granular engine. alicias keys i use thats about it.
did they sort the crap out between the KK ad the SW yet? what a mess NI you are screwing up big time, and i say that as someone who has been with them since generator
Unless you are a Apple user ..... NI are a total FAIL with their lack of Apple Silicon support..... I no longer use Komplete in my workflow and its going to take a lot of work to get me back...
Y'all do realize Komplete 14 is peepin' around the freakin' corner laughing at those running to get K13🤣. There are some instruments I want but I'm waiting on K14.

I've slowly been deleting my never- and lesser-used plugins. It's so nice to not have my plugin list take up half the screen!
WORD UP I KNOW THE FEELING
The piano at the start and 18.35 so beautiful 🤩
Thanks Jack. I always find your videos informative AND fun.

Jack you're so talented - love the sounds and the insights! When you releasing some of your music! I'm keen! 💙
I love Jack!

Juno 106? NS3? Jack do you not have these?
Flutter dust has a real Super 6 vibe to it. Really nice man ✌🏻

I love this guy. BTW, the NI 50% sale just ended. I go the 13, I really can't justify the Ultimate yet, but I was tempted. really tempted

These native instrument commercials are getting more elaborate. Great job NI

Great review……….so enjoyable and yes! Sold to one Logic Pro dad x
For me its roland srx and cherry audio vsti,s with my deepmind🤙
Help me Jack!!!!! Realivox Ladies Kontakt Library or that new Casio 1000 keyboard with vocal synth? I’ve got a great voice for Silent Movies ;)
i wish you had a twitter for just keyboards. I've asked questions in the past and it's like throwing rocks off a cliff.
I'm hoping this means 14 is imminent. Spitfire's felt piano is the main reason everyone else does one now. Still the best, I think.

Other reason: Pianobook instruments work great in Kontakt.
That must mean that NI must be imminently dropping K14 then :-)
The main difference between the "bundels": Select, Standard, Ultimate??
If not or never used the Komplete...what to go for?
Love your videos!!!!😍
looking forward for long waited korg pa5x review ?

1 reason you don’t: Akai Mpc 61 😉😎

Any new controllers i should look at?
You're just playing via MIDI. You're not loading it "correctly" if you want to use the screens and knobs for tweaking the instrument etc.
No I don’t need any more software it’s just a pain in the bum to work with.
