The sound of this thing reminds me of 2000s virtual analog and Logic stock synths. Way too few knobs for $2k. At that price I’d recommend an Iridium like other people are saying, but this form factor really competes more with a Blofeld. I think you can still get those for $500-600.
Regarding ground loop issues: the lovely people from MODAL have explained me in detail, how their synths easily and brilliantly solve that issue by design!, and yes, my (very affordable!!) MODAL Argon8 is the only! synth that has no ground loop issues whatsoever, when connected simultaneously via USB and audio. ALL of my other synths (Yamaha, Korg, Roland, you name it.... ) have ground loop issues, so I either connect them via standard MIDI cable or have to use expensive DI boxes. BUT: Here's my point: If MODAL can do it (and standard MIDI could do it since the 80s), wouldnt you agree that other companies should also be able to!?!??
@@smartwerker No. Ferrite cores help with interference on cables, USB noise comes from cheap USB PSUs and over USB shielding (with exception on IKEA and PSUs for medical use). Only help is an USB isolator.
Got my Blofeld this week and I tend to agree, I’ve yet to go thru all 2048 presets on the Blofeld but I haven’t hit on an underwhelming one yet, given the price tag on this I expected to be blown away, unfortunately wasn’t.
I would buy the MultiPoly over the Vibe. It's a full-fledged keyboard with lots of knobs & the analog emulations are very impressive sounding; 4 oscillators, 4 layers. Way cheaper, too.
I tried asking Copilot AI how to trigger sustain. To get the Mayer EMIA Vibes to receive sustained pedal inputs, you'll need to connect a sustain pedal to the **mono jack socket** on the device. When you switch on the Vibes, it samples the polarity of the released pedal, so pressing the pedal will trigger the sustain/hold function regardless of the pedal's polarity.
I'm totally in two minds about this. On one hand, this is like the logical successor to the Virus. And the fact it's another five letter name starting with VI and ending in S kinda backs this up, they obviously see this as just that. And it's got a seriously impressive feature set, a lot of which virus owners (including myself) wish it had... But like, 24/48khz output in 2024/5? Single TRS jack outputs? 14gb storage size for a "supersynth" that does multisampling? Bro, I can buy a 2 TERRABYTE nvme drive for like 140 quid. The Virus had 3 sets of balanced stereo outputs on 1/4 inch. And it costs £2300? Uhm, nah. Sorry guys, but you've focused on the wrong things here. This needed to have way higher audio/internal specs to get me to drop this kinda money on things I can already do better.
Hey Jack, you could have used the faders on the Nord, to assign and addresss each of the Multi Timbral Layers (A,B,C,D) on the Mayer Vibs- and thus also the split keyboard functionality of the Nord and assign each section to A, B, C or D... .the midi functionalities of the NORD in combination with these synths is powerful because you can mix and match the Nord and the Mayer at the same time. You knew that already as a superuser. :-) love your videaos anyway and happy holidays to your crew
For a digital synths it sounds amazing, very organic, thick and "real". The only thing i do not like too much is the interface, it looks like 90s computer and could be less brainy but more intuitive and sexy. But i don't know any pure digital synth which sounds better. I wish i could afford one ;(

You CANNOT get “ground noise issues” when using 5 pin DIN or 3.5mm MIDI Those are optically isolated as per the MIDI specification, which makes it physically impossible. USB on the other hand…
I mean it’s a boutique and small operation. People expect so much of a discount price-wise from these individuals. I think it’s reasonably priced especially as a competitor to the iridium core

I'm honestly underwhelmed big time by these sounds.
This is a really good short review of this piece of gear. I always love these types of videos.
