Irenaeus was a theological giant....a great man of God indeed.

In the Proverbs section on "the way of life," I found the words used to title the gospels. Mark (from the distant beginning or the border establishing faith within the kingdom seems to be the first. In the last year of Jesus' teaching, this appears to be the gospel as understood by "the other 70." Matthew or met'theou to the 70, Luke is the latter part and also blessed like the latter rain. John appears without its Jah prefix and means "the beginning of the response." This means of assigning a title is consistent with Hebrew writings. I think Irenaeus understood this. We are created in God's image, but we grow through these phases into faith and the character of God. I saw, also, that these are like the courts of the kingdom. The first three are similar like the 3 courts as we know them. There is another place, however. Between the wings of the cherubim is the face of Christ. This, after all, is his Mercy "Seat" or throne. This, after all, is the purpose of our journey--to seek His face. I find it ASTOUNDING that "The Proton Psalm" is, if fact, the second Psalm. Christ has been crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lord. We speak of a premier of a country or a first family. Jesus is The Proton. How very interesting that you and I are each an "electon," which means "drawn." We are drawn to God by "cords of love." I wonder if modern scientists understood this when they named atomic particles? I've explained these things to my friends and priest, but no one understands me. I wanted to join the church, but the Priest told me to go back where I came from in only somewhat nicer words. I'm old now and quite close to death. Do you think it would be reasonable to publish a pamphlet concerning this? Who will encourage believers to continue their walk if it isn't understood. (While there are spiritual gifts which may be given to the young, the response of God is rather like His breath in your ear...answering your questions. His answers are spoken in what I would call mysteries...things that may not be commonly understood.) What do you think? Or maybe don't respond at all?

The authors of the gospels are UNKNOWN! Also “Mark/Matthew/Luke” say Jesus ministry lasted a few months or a year at best! “John” is the only one to say it was 2-3 years!

Question as you mention valentinus was he also able to claim the same verifiable linages to the disciples as Irenaeus was??
Because if not that would end that argument quick if he did I would like to know

So by the second century the "miracle" of transubstantiation had already been defined? I would have thought that that heresy hadn't taken place until well into the fourth century. Transubstantiation requires a special priesthood. Transubstantiation was the nose under the tent that became the justification for the clerical lordship over (dominance of) the laity that defines the Catholic religion.

Maybe you should reconsider your own late views of "the symbolic" Communion. What you mistake is believing it is vampyric or cannibalistic. It is neither of those. It is elemental, which is clearly seen through John 6 and 1 Corinthians 10-11. Even early Protestants understood this. You are elementally consuming the Body and Blood of Christ when the Consecration of the Gifts take effect. It is a Holy Mystery. Irenaeus was teaching Orthodox understanding more than RC.

The majority of Christian churches were non trinitarians and ireneaus never spoke of non trinitarians as being heresy because he and the apostles were non trinitarians....not trinitarians

St. Ireanaeus is a Cahtolic...stop your delusion....
      ST. IRENAEUS
"In accordance with this design, Mary the Virgin is found obedient, saying, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to your word.” Luke 1:38 But Eve was disobedient; for she did not obey when as yet she was a virgin. ... having become disobedient, was made the cause of death, both to herself and to the entire human race; so also did Mary, having a man betrothed [to her], and being nevertheless a virgin, by yielding obedience, become the cause of salvation, both to herself and the whole human race. And on this account does the law term a woman betrothed to a man, the wife of him who had betrothed her, although she was as yet a virgin; thus indicating the back-reference from Mary to Eve,...For the Lord, having been born “the First-begotten of the dead,” Revelation 1:5 and receiving into His bosom the ancient fathers, has regenerated them into the life of God, He having been made Himself the beginning of those that live, as Adam became the beginning of those who die. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 Wherefore also Luke, commencing the genealogy with the Lord, carried it back to Adam, indicating that it was He who regenerated them into the Gospel of life, and not they Him. And thus also it was that the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the virgin Mary set free through faith."

Ignatius of antioch reference to the church being catholic.....had nothing to do with the pagan roman catholic cult formed 200 years later....which decided to use the same term Ignatius of antioch used to call their false impersonation of the church

i find it funny today modern christian definition of the holy spirit is a ghosty thing that translates the bible for new christains. which is gnostic. the gnostics make there own interpretations of what they think the bible says. where the greek word for spirit is "pneúma" which at that time the philosophers Jewish and Greek used the word for "soul, psyche, mood, disposition, attitude, temper, emotions, energy" it was a viewpoint of the inner persons heart mind soul emotions connected with the breath that the body needed. the holy spirit and edifying it and understanding it, was knowing the "divine, mindset, attitude, emotions, and vigour" but the trinity is also a transcendent mystery that is a paradox. you can see it and grow in it but never truly know everything. so it always has to be redefined, tested and you can understand aspects of it. but at the same time it is infinity transcending so there is always more mystery to find out about it and you cannot ultimately define it by putting it in a box "echo chamber" it always has to be thought upon and edified and tweaked. so it grows but is never complete in understanding and always has to be refined, always refined.

the serpant very likely represents Ouroboros the snake that bites its tail. a very wide spread symbol across the world, it represents a perpetual cycle where the universe is eternal always building and being destroyed forever with no hope of transcending out. Christ crushes the head of this serpent. when humanity and the divine logos with the holy spirit are honoured, even if the world is in turmoil Christ assures the world can and will be be saved from Ouroboros the serpent. Christ is the way the truth and the light

what the hell?? The gnostcs make their own interpretation of what they think the bible says??? Please friend inform yourself because gnostics never accepted the Bible as inspired nor do they used the Bible as their source of knowledge. The New Testament is an invention of the Alexandrian Christians from Egytpt that was chosen by the Roman church to be the "official and legal" Christian text.

The New Testament circulated more through Asia Minor. The Gnostics were more so in Egypt.

The day Adam ate of the Tree of Knowledge, he died. But God is not the God of the dead but of the living for all live unto Him. (Luke 20:38)
Star Trek equates death with "ceasing to exist". That's what the popular media would have us believe death is but God's word tells us that we are born dead - that we need a second birth to be alive. But are we born dead? No. We're breathing and we're human and precious to our God but we are not alive in the sense that Adam was alive. We are dead, in the sense that Adam died.
We can't have a secular opinion of life and death and hope to figure out God's word. The day Adam ate of that Tree, he died. He died that hour because God kicked him out of the Garden so that he wouldn't anymore eat of the Tree of Life and stay alive in the flesh.
So there is no contradiction. All we have to do is wrap our heads around God's truth and we can start believing every word of His revelation.

The lack of revelation is fertile ground for wild doctrines. The bible doesn't say that Mary was NOT assumed body and soul into heaven, therefore it mus be true. It's like in today's economy, "I can't figure out how the Egyptians built the pyramids, therefore, ancient aliens did it." The Church of Christ (denomination) says that instrumental music is against the law of God in the New Covenant because no commandment to use them exists. The lack of information is fertile ground for error. (Revelation talks about harps being played in heaven so God doesn't hate instrumental music.)
It's important to use a systematic approach to the scriptures and to treat the Covenants as legal documents. The spookier you get with the scriptures, the wider you open the door to error.

The culture of the "church" had gone from "No respecters of persons" to one that used the persons of the apostles as license to depart from the faith. When "Thus saith the Lord" takes a backseat then that is the open door to mass apostasy.
