For sure!!! Towards the middle and end, the PS3 took over in terms of quality exclusives...while the Xbox was content with multi-plats. Sad, because in the beginning the 360 had great variety...same with original Xbox!! Tons of variety!
This music really adds to the experience the sad disappointing music at the start signifying a bad launch to the down right depressing music as you talked about PS exclusives not living up to what they were hyped up to be and the 360 having a dominating lead. To the almost biblical music as the PS3 finally started showing what it could do.
i actually liked beyond two souls more than heavy rain.. better acting (ellen page), better voice work (not the french people trying to sound american like on heavy rain), also no plotholes, also following a girl over like a 15yr period was amazing.. it was something i never really saw in a game before- it really made me feel connected to her as the main character

no Warhawk or Genji good games (everyone hated genjo) but warhawk really was a gem loved the online gameplay with tons of people. I also like Lair, glad I found someone else that agrees with me and RIP Factor 5 and what killed them was Brash Entertainment!!!!
Great history video man! On point too! I felt the same, I waited until metal gear solid 4 and I bought the 80gig metal gear version. Even then, I only had metal gear solid as a game... Demon Soul was the game that really made it for me. PS3 was king just because of this game.

I had a 360 a year after it released and didn't get a ps3 until the slim came out. I got the ps3, Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, and Killzone 2. I pretty much rarely used it until the last 2 years. There is a lot more great exclusive games then I had thought. Uncharted series probably my favorite series on the ps3. It is by far my favorite console of last gen. 360 was good too but I mostly played it for shooters.

Tbh I was a PS guy since ps2 when I was a kid and I have never owned an xbox. But I have to say that every one of these games for the ps3 was trash apart from gow 3 and maybe folklore and lair where decent. I have never played the last of us or uncharted, bioshock and games like that because I don't enjoy them. Same goes for heavy rain and beyond two souls but those two aren't that bad from what I saw. Also xbox smacks ps with their backwards compatibility and the game pass with gold. Also they took away ps3's best feature to be able to play ps2 games on that console just so they can sell more copies of the system... It was a different story with the ps4, we got lit exclusives like gow, spiderman and a few others but still if you ask me xbox's backwards compatibility is missing from Sony systems to make 'em better... PS: You forgot the kill zone series in the vid with the ps3 exclusives.
I did not buy a ps3 until I knew that there was a game that I absolutely wanted for it that I could justify buying a ps3 for. That game was Valkyria Chronicles. I bought that game before I even bought the system. Well technically the system was given to me for christmas. I think the only reason why the ps3 even survived the initial first few years because much like the ps2 they had an early release of a game that it seemed like every gamer wanted to play and that was Metal Gear Solid IV. I can't tell you how many people I know did not want to buy a ps3 until that game was released. You know what's fucking eerie is that the same thing happened with the ps2. I remember people did not want to buy a ps2 at first because it had a very lackluster launch line up and absurdly high price tag, but the moment that metal gear solid 2 got released suddenly everybody wanted the system for themselves.

Sony also made PS4 pay to play online. That alone made me avoid it like the plague until about a year ago, when I couldn't resist not being able to play Bloodborne on my own system (I had already bought and platinumed Bloodborne on a friend's PS4).
The PS3 is the "only" console from Sony I ignored for over a year, which is odd, being Sony is also my preferred platform for niche games & JRPGs. But I didn't get a PS3 till late 2008, so there was some pretty good games by then, & the earlier games were dirt cheap (Folklore & such). I got the PS3 when it was reduced in price -- the 40 GB model, I believe, which came packed with Sam Raimi's Spider-man 3 movie. Got Folklore (cheap), Mirror's Edge, & Heavenly Sword with it, then my collection took off.

I still play mine today even though i own a ps4 and recently released ps5 which plays games at 60 fps at 4k. Something special about old games. I recently even played Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver. Would love to see that game come back and return to form. Such a good story. Great content as always.

I actually bought a PS3 around the launch of the second OG model. Sounded like a jet engine, I got resistance, marvel ultimate alliance, Def jam Icon and Assassin's Creed for it when I bought it and I enjoyed all of those games, but I really wanted the 360, so I started saving up some money even tho I still bought games for the PS3. When I got my 360 I was so happy, I sold my PS3 to my nephew for cheap and gave him some games and I sold my Collection of PS3 games to a friend.
its crazy to look at where the ps3 ended up being and where sony is now with the ps4 outselling the xbox one x and the demand of the ps5 has but theres something about those early ps3 days espically thoses 2008 to 2010 days when ps3 really starting coming into its own espically when Metal Gear Solid 4 came out exclusively for the ps3.

i went from resistance, to folklore to uncharted , with the simpsons in between, i never felt my ps3 was lacking anything, once mgs4 came i was complete, you paint a terrible situation that i never experienced. maybe i didnt have too much money to buy a game every month, but what i had was solid games

what ruined my ps3 experience a little was the yellow light of death but other than that i still liked the ps3 I would complete metal gear solid 4 several times, I think the last 2 games i beat were Black flag and dead island riptide
Heavenly Sword was my first PS3 jaw dropper, I even got funny looks from people outside looking at me through the window as I stood up and physically dodged with my body/PS3 controller in unison on some of the levels. My PS3 is one of those odd ones which plays PS2 games straight out of the box, I only found this out 2 years ago having had the console for 9-10 years ! I played Dragon Quest 8 on it and was amazed. Valkyria Chronicles was amazing also, a Japanese anime alternate world WW2 game as a cartoony strategy game, wonderful. When you first played Demon Soul's and you entered that main hub at the start, did you wonder to yourself ? ... what the hell do I have to do here ? yes me also.
Great new camera but the content was even much better !! Loved every second of it. I first owned a 360 only and bought my ps3 only in 2008 I believe. For a few years more the 360 stayed my main console but around 2010 - 2011, my ps3 became my number 1. For jrpg gamers the ps3 was heaven on earth compared to the later years of the 360.
Camera looks great, I say stick with it! My launch day backwards compatible PS3 just went out the other day, but this video brings me right back to those early years.
I bought the 360 early on so I abandonned Sony for a while until Uncharted came out... and then went back to Playstation and never looked back... of course I bought a Wii but it fizlled out really fast for me but I still own my PS3 up to this day even if I don't have any games for it anymore... Now I own a PS4 nd a Vita and collect only for those 2 consoles... Great video and keep up the good work!
New camera is awesome, as this video ! I bought the slim PS3 mainly to play blu-rays, and in fact I barely played on this console. I'm more a retrogamer, so I'll eventually play the PS3 RPGs in the future.
I like the new camera very colorful and bright. I got the second model (Slim) of the ps3 from Walmart as a gift for christmas and it came with the first Infamous,Batman Arkham Asylum, and The Dark Knight on Bluray that started my bluray collection lol.

terry kohut yes and no...if you like no Nintendo exclusives then I'd say yes...but even Nintendo themselves didn't really go all out..,starfox was just ok, no metroid, no Zelda (yet) and a lot of the Nintendo games were merely just ok...smash is amazing, as is donkey King Country....but 3rd party is and has been dead since launch... I don't know man, I do love Xenoblade and a few others....but it's a tough sell at this point

The red ring of death really hurt the 360. I got tired of sending in my 360 for repairs. That's what really drove me to game on the PS 3 more.

I think the real problem with heavenly blade was the frame rate and that button press sequence boss fight. Amazing otherwise.
Exclusive turd after turd. Haha that shit cracked me up. I switched to xbox after ps2 but recently scored a launch edition ps3. The ps3 games are cheap right now so i figured i would start collecting and see what I missed out on.
Got A ps3 by 2009 and Metal Gear Solid 4 and God of War 3 very first ones i've played it blew me away
$600 but worth every single penny.

what ruined my ps3 experience a little was the yellow light of death but other than that i still liked the ps3 I would complete metal gear solid 4 several times, I think the last 2 games i beat were Black flag and dead island riptide

Heavenly Sword was my first PS3 jaw dropper, I even got funny looks from people outside looking at me through the window as I stood up and physically dodged with my body/PS3 controller in unison on some of the levels. My PS3 is one of those odd ones which plays PS2 games straight out of the box, I only found this out 2 years ago having had the console for 9-10 years ! I played Dragon Quest 8 on it and was amazed. Valkyria Chronicles was amazing also, a Japanese anime alternate world WW2 game as a cartoony strategy game, wonderful. When you first played Demon Soul's and you entered that main hub at the start, did you wonder to yourself ? ... what the hell do I have to do here ? yes me also.
Demons souls confused the shit outta me at first!! I had no idea what to do in the Nexus!!

Great new camera but the content was even much better !! Loved every second of it. I first owned a 360 only and bought my ps3 only in 2008 I believe. For a few years more the 360 stayed my main console but around 2010 - 2011, my ps3 became my number 1. For jrpg gamers the ps3 was heaven on earth compared to the later years of the 360.

I bought the 360 early on so I abandonned Sony for a while until Uncharted came out... and then went back to Playstation and never looked back... of course I bought a Wii but it fizlled out really fast for me but I still own my PS3 up to this day even if I don't have any games for it anymore... Now I own a PS4 nd a Vita and collect only for those 2 consoles... Great video and keep up the good work!

I like the new camera very colorful and bright. I got the second model (Slim) of the ps3 from Walmart as a gift for christmas and it came with the first Infamous,Batman Arkham Asylum, and The Dark Knight on Bluray that started my bluray collection lol.

Yea man, it's like Microsoft and Sony switched places..Xbox 360 things that worked great were thrown out the window with the launch of the Xbox one..why they would screw things up like that is beyond me!

I like the camera, but the angle is not appealing to me. U got some kickass statues I know u want to show, but you being closer and more in the center would make it look better. Just my opinion though.

terry kohut yes and no...if you like no Nintendo exclusives then I'd say yes...but even Nintendo themselves didn't really go all out..,starfox was just ok, no metroid, no Zelda (yet) and a lot of the Nintendo games were merely just ok...smash is amazing, as is donkey King Country....but 3rd party is and has been dead since launch...
I don't know man, I do love Xenoblade and a few others....but it's a tough sell at this point

I'm with you! I don't think the console has been maxed out yet either..Last Of Us pushed it pretty hard, but I think that cell is still untapped!! I haven't had much of a connection to the newer gen just yet.
