For a small conventional layout 16' x 8'.... what gauge wire would you recommend to use ?

Happy new year and thanks for watching! I use 16 going from the transformer to the terminal block and 18 from the block to multiple feeders on the layout. I also use one channel per loop on my Z4000, and have a 180 brick for my elevated subway / trolley track.
