I've been using it for almost 3 months now. I started late, so people had time to rake in scores for a good number of months before I even started. But have been regularly doing the daily workout + challenge + minimum 1 free training daily, not missed a single day. I am now up on 24th place! I guess the fact that America gets penalized for not getting the straps " helps"... Most importantly though, I can see a HUGE difference in the mirror! And have gone down a size in clothes! =D
Thanks for the review! I've actually switched completely to Let's Get Fit, just to do one challenge for 30 days. I plan to mix it back up again eventually, but I like that I actually break out a sweat for this game, and find it a challenge (RFA was becoming too easy again :P )
Thats exactly the thing, isnt it? RFA is great but it can get your to plateau easily. This game looks like there is enough variety to alter things a lot!
Thanks for the review Peter, this was just the review I was waiting for from you! Really keen to move on to another game after ring fit adventure and this looks promising!
As someone who's become some what of a hermit since the Panda-medic went around , Being able to at least use this to get active while in my own home is really enticing. Going to the gym is just so anxiety inducing, so being able to do this on my own is really great- but you're so right about form, as this is essentially a solo exercise , there's no one to tell you if your form is off and if that's going to be doing more harm than good . and during the warm ups and cool downs i just hit pause and count to 7 XD I have to order those straps from amazon cause if i can i want to start adding weights to my routine.
Thanks for the review. I find RFA too slow between exercises which can mean that a fifteen-minute workout takes almost 30 minutes (I may be using it wrong but I don't think so). Right now (DEC 23) Let's Get Fit is on offer for £7.49 which is a steal and is why I bought it. I'm looking forward to getting a more conventional workout rather than an adventure game. I'm not much of a gamer and before finding LGF, I struggled to find anything vaguely resembling a 'proper' workout on the Switch - which is bonkers considering the interactive ability of the Switch. Something else I can't understand is why more fitness 'games' don't utilise the Ringcon - LGF could be even better if they did (and that is of course 'if they can'?) Thanks for your in-depth review Peter - I'm hoping LGF helps me achieve a higher level of fitness and mobility in the coming year.
I liked the cake analogy. I'm actually looking forward to having another option to play besides Ring Fit Adventure. I love RFA, but it seems I have seen all of it. Looking forward to new exercises to make.
Nice review but...well, you knew someone would take exception to the nitpicking, right? lol No, seriously, I have the game and bought the wrist strap from Amazon and am using my RingFit leg strap. I agree the move detection could be better and the fact that it impacts my score can irk me, however, this isn't quite as gamified as other apps. In other words, I'm doing this to lose weight and improve my health, not to achieve high scores or get to the castle or whatever. Scores are nice and all but the main reason I'm doing this is for myself. I've only been at it a few days and definitely not as in-depth as you but so far I like it. It is a good value for what I paid and I'm going to keep at it. I do appreciate your honesty and your position as a personal trainer, perhaps if I had that role, I've view it differently but as a regular guy who gained ten pounds in the past few months and is working to lose them, it's just right for me. Thanks for a fair and comprehensive review. Great job, as always!
Dude that's awesome! Loving that it's working for you! That's why I mentioned at the end to ignore the scores, because if you do that, you've got a circuit training game that'll work for you. Keep up the awesome work bud!
Thank you as i said once in the switch sports review department you re the best, very complete, very honest👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪thank you (i m still eagerly waiting for the uoga master reviewl
While I had a good time with Ring Fit Adventure, one of the things that really bugged me extremely was - to no ones surprise - the leg strap. Tried everything, strapping it over different kind of short pants, even under the pants leg, but it always started slipping some minutes into training, really nagging at my motivation. Not to keen to hear that they haven't improved the straps that come with this new fitness title. Started to get into outdoor running which is a welcome change. Maybe I'll give the game a try nonetheless. Thanks for your review!
Thanks for your review, I got a switch this month and saw this game on a local store, based on your review I'm considering buying it taking into account it costs much less than the ring fit too. On your opinion between Let's get fit or Ring fit for someone that doesn't have either game would this be a better option for someone just wants to do a regular home workout daily and still frequent the gym for more strength based sessions? Thanks
Still a shame there's no full custom workout playlist like RFA. Also a shame about the calorie counter. Even if RFA and Just Dance and other games undercount, I rather it undercount than overcount like this game. Its like missing a decimal point...I am still very curious about what to expect with the game's calorie burning from a fitness watch.
I hated the cooldown in this game. No cueing or instructions what so ever so you spend time trying to figure out what you’re supposed to do and as soon as you get into it, the instructor is on to the next stretch
Hello, is ring fit adventure better than this game? I had playing RFA following your previous youtube, those are great. I wanna get more into exercising at home. What do you think? Which one is better or I can play both at the same time?
Oh, they're coming my friend! Had so much to do IRL these past 2 weeks, and I always cover new fitness games with priority. But I've got those guides coming, plus a couple of new discussion videos in progress too! Stick around :D
I'm going to start on my fitness again after not being able to exercise properly due to depression etc. What's it like for beginners to exercise, e.g. Is it beginner friendly?
@@MasterTrainerPeter thanks for your comment. I think I'll definitely give this game a go and mix it up with ring fit, plus joining a real gym and going swimming. Your video was very appreciated and in depth so thank you 😊👍
@@MasterTrainerPeter Well if you ever do, I upload game workouts to my channel now if you want to quickly check out some things. 1 hour cardio sessions are intense.
I’m 125kg so Im finding that all the planking and strength stuff on the floor are destroying my wrists. I’ll have to focus on cardio and hopefully drop a little weight to make the strength stuff easier.
The calorie counting is so confusing! I’m 166 cm, female, 29 years old and roughly 63kg and supposed to burn 600 kcal in 10 minutes ?! Hahaha that’s laughable but the game is fun though!!
The only fitness game I ever played was ea sports active on the wii and I was wondering does the arm band track hear rates like that one did? If not I’m guessing that’s why cals burned is so wrong lol
For the calorie miscalculation, is it possible that you put in LBS where it asked for KG? I was getting stupid calorie estimates from Fitness Boxing 2 until I realized it thought I was 350 lbs instead of 160 because I put 160 KG just assuming it was in freedom units like Ring Fit was out of the box for my country.
Hi Peter, it's been another 10 days - have you discovered anything new in terms of exercise selection, structure, progression etc.? And since I'm fairly new to the Nintendo world - do they actually listen to constructive criticism like yours and update/improve the software?
Program wise - progressions are fine; builds volume of the exercise over time with sets and reps too, which is good. Some vague alteration of exercise selection, but its still same muscles over and over again. I'd argue that they need to make it clearer (much clearer) how rest days should function and come into your program too though.
I am wondering if Let’s Get Fit is going to replace your content for Ring Fit. I don’t mind, as I am starting to get bored with the latter, but I do live in the United States
Doing a bit of everything is fun. There just hasn't been much interest around Ring Fit recently, so its on the backburner. I've got stuff coming though :)
Its hard for me to believe that we can burn 400 calories in 15 minutes. I know this depends on weight etc but would you consider these numbers reliable?
Thanks a lot, this is very helpful. I am looking for a fitness game that offers a good workout supplement to Just Dance . This would probably be the best choice - though Ring Fit Adventure seems to be a lot more fun... By the way: Has anybody tried to stop the belt from sliding down by sticking / glueing some anti-slip for socks on it?
Compared to yourself fitness for wii this title is too basic. There is no evaluation of ur needs u have to choose on ur own goal. The programs it offers are only 15min max per day and even if u choose a custom workout it only offers up to 20mins. There is no option to use ur equipment like a ball or weights. It's a pity that there is no decent fitness app for these new consoles.
Having goal setting would have been good, but the exercise variety is actually really good in this game and can provide a decent workout that can fit in with most goals. And as far as other equipment goes, that opens such a can of worms from a health and safety point of view, of course no game is going to actively advise you to add weights in. The unsupervised injury risk would be ridiculous. And I gotta add to that last comment that Ring Fit Adventure is, from a professionals perspective, the most fulfilling and well rounded workout that has ever come to consoles. Give that a try.
The way that diet culture makes people feel guilty about eating cake and makes people think that if you eat cake you're automatically unhealthy is a massive shame if I can be honest. The cake making analogy works perfectly for this game regardless.
@MasterTrainerPeter all I can say is that it's a slippery slope. A little cake almost always turns into a craving for so many sweets. I guess I just don't want to think about it when I'm working out. In fact one of the Switch boxing 2 games has a candy background which I think is inappropriate. Subliminal cravings arise.
the only thing and most important reason why i don't want to buy this game, It looks too ugly in my opinion. The color is murky, mentors look ugly and boring. Ring fit's still my favourite, colorful, mentor is so cute.
I've been using it for almost 3 months now. I started late, so people had time to rake in scores for a good number of months before I even started. Theoretically yes but there are a lot of dynamic exercises like burpees and such that would cause noise.
