Thank you so much for your Switch-Fitness-games reviews. I was hesitant to buy a Switch but it really changed my life. RingFit, Circuit and Zumba are my favourites. Grazie mille 😊
Great insights! I have to say I tried the demo yesterday and I'm now suffering the soreness, so I'll definitely be buying. I'm very lazy when it comes to working out so this is perfect for me. Everything was very motivating on day 1, we'll see how it goes from there!
The warm ups are perfect, unlike for example, in Ring Fit. Also I absolutely LOVE the arcade music. It's been stuck in my head and there's a serious satisfaction to hearing the score tally up after each exercise
Finally got around to watching your review and I’m happy it was so positive! I’m still waiting on my physical copy to be dispatched from Amazon - supposed to be here next week. Can’t wait to dive into it!
I love seeing the cooldown and warmups really fit for once! Good Rei, by the way. :) Your review really broke down every question I had and I feel confident in my choice of getting it. Hopefully the issues will be ironed out with the exact positioning of things (something that still rubs me the wrong way even with Fitness Boxing 2, sadly).
I’ve been trying the demo and really like it. I’ll be grabbing this as soon as it releases tomorrow. I’m someone who’s been very off & on about exercise my whole life. I’m finding that at the moment, fitness video games are giving me the motivation I need.
Thank you for the thorough video as always! Looks very fun while also being a great workout. Will likely buy it when I'm able, although some of those last stretches I'll probably be unable to do lol.
A comprehensive and well-done review, thanksie! Indeed, this may only be recommended for those who are more into cardio than resistance training. I tried the demo and unfortunately I think I'll just stick to RFA. Apart from the less-focused strength training here, I think it's a bit lack of fun-factor which makes this game a bit more repetitive and boring in the long run. The costs also seems a bit pricey, and I guess the exercises component could be just done alone for free without the game. But hey, this is still pretty useful as the trainers in the game guide you very well! So I'd still suggest this game for gamers who want some short "exercises" as the exhange of their short "breaks". As the game premises tho, it only takes 10 minutes for 3 days in a week.
I mean, any exercise in a game can be done outside of the game for free haha! But I get your point, it is one of the pricier games in the exergame range at the moment.
That's true! XD The only difference between "free" exercise with exergame imho is the gamification part. While RFA has adventuring aspects with choice of skills and other things to make it more RPG game-y, I haven't seen much for the Fitness Circuit atm. Maybe if they added more feature updates, I'm definitely looking forward to it!
Early gang! 🥳 This looks SO promising!! I'd love to give it a try so I'll definitely pick up the demo. I'm a bit worried about the motion detection issues, it made me lose interest in Fitness boxing regardless of all the calibration attempts. A huge YES for proper warm-up and cooldown sessions! If I remember correctly, Knockout Home Fitness uses the very same choreo for both, I just ended up skipping it altogether after it became way too repetitive. I did my own warm-ups and stretches instead. Thank you for the review and for highlighting both good and less good parts of the game. ^^
The motion detection in a few games is really bad but for most of the exercises in the game is good enough that it don't feel like it hampers gameplay i can see myself excluding a few exercises though because of that.
I hope you enjoy the demo! The motion detection can be frustrating, but the exercise selection is good, so thats the more important thing IMO. And as I said, I'm working on ways around it ;)
@@MasterTrainerPeter Awesome, thank you! :) I've just finished my first demo session and so far I quite like it! I will try to set my perfectionist self aside and accept less than 100% in these, after all the point is to exercise as well as I can. 😆 I will skip the in-game cooldown though, there are some stretches that are physically impossible for me yet. The thigh stretch & balancing-bending forward and the leg stretch while squatting completely down on the other leg, these are out for me for a while. There was another arm stretching back and bending forward one that I felt very clumsy with too. 😅
Thanks for such a detailed and comprehensive review! After testing the demo, I think I will probably pick this up. I enjoyed it more than I did Ring Fit, although the novelty factor may have played a part. One thing that frustrated me though, was the goal gates. I've lived a very sedentary lifestyle for several years, and I struggle heavily with limb placement, forcing me to stop several times just to think about how I was supposed to move. Yet I crushed almost all excercizes on standard by the time the demo was over, and the sets get over quicker if you do them "well". I wish they didn't do this. I guess I'll just have to do the more challenging setting that didn't appear in the demo, but when someone like me get lots of perfect results (for comparison, in the boxing games, I get less than half perfect, in the Circuit demo I get around 98% perfect) then I worry about the capability to progress to harder programs in time.
The daily circuit has an adaptive mode that adds sets over time, so you can do up to 5 sets. I'm finding Custom Circuit to be a treat for those sorts of more challenging sets; there is definitely room for progression.
Interesting to hear your opinions on this game ( I had a review copy too, really enjoying it!) I actually work up a sweat when RFA was getting too easy again ☺️
@@MasterTrainerPeter I was glad to hear it was the motion issue, rather than me just being awful at the arm curl haha! It’s actually helped me with my running which is really good 😊 although I do more than 10 mins and definitely more than 3x a week!
FCircuit's perfect for warm up, after that I certainly focus on ring fit and zumba, maybe knock out home fit. That's enough excersizes for me daily and a lot of fun at home in winter.
Wanted to say thank you for this review. I recently picked up a switch and one of the first things that caught my attention were the fitness games available since that's something I've neglected for a long while. I'd love to get Ring Fit at some point, though with this game being significantly cheaper at the moment due to a sale and being available digitally for less inconvenience, as well as your thorough review and having given the demo a try, I'm definitely going to pick it up! Also appreciate your custom circuit videos, I'd like to try to build up to that in the long run. Also looking forward to your Miku Boxing video when that comes out, that's one that's got my eye for sure. But yeah, from someone who's just starting out their journey into fitness gaming, thank you, and I look forward to seeing your future videos!
As someone who doesnt really exercise and feels uncomfortable exercising infront of people, your rounded review has actually encouraged me to get this game. Been trying the demon for a couple days now while i wait for it to come in the post (its actually gone down in price on amazon atm)
Wait a minute. This game has been out for two months? Where have I been!? either. way, great review and I'm thoroughly enjoying the game. I do it as cardio right before I do my resistance training For about 30 minutes.
2:52 - maybe the load screens are giving a chance to do a set in between with weights? Now, that you have the “proper technique” you can do it with some dumbbells.
Great video! I love the excersizes for this game. I already preordered. The music is actually pretty good. I'm on 72% in FOTNS rythym boxing, looking forward to hitting level 68 on this!
@@MasterTrainerPeter thanks, I bought fist grips for the joycons and 2 pound dumbbells for fitness circuit. They are small and rest on my hand and grip keeping away from the joystick and buttons.
This looks a lot more varied though then fitness boxing idk about most of ya but i feel i'm not getting as effective of a workout from fist of the north star i did the fitness circut demo and i was having aches and pains the next day. Boxing really only works cardio and while it can work other bodies with proper form i don't feel like i'm getting as much effect from boxing games and the 30-40 minute workout sessions are kinda exhausting. This sounds like something i can squeeze in short order yet i'm getting a better effect.
thanks for this! I with Ring fit had that Friends Mode. I think the "you MUST put your joycons like THIS" would be too big of a turn off for me as it is super frustrating in Fitness Boxing 2.
I was going to ask if you had any idea to had resistance. I see you already though about that ahah. I knew you don't recommend wrist weights. I wonder though if regular dumbells or elastic bands, with some kind of gloves to hold your joy cons on the back of you hand, could work. But I'm glad to know most exercises are fine without added resistance.
I think I've mentioned my issues with wrist weights before, but if you're able to safely use them, then they could work. Resistance bands are more likely to be able to be used effectively, but you'd need to be precise with your set up.
I never bought wrist weights considering you don't recommend them and that already have dumbells and that I don't feel the need to add resistance in RFA. If the motion controls are precise, wrist or hand bands won't probably work, since they place the joycons differently that if you are holding them (hand bands place them literally upside down, buttons facing up if your palm is facing down). So if I end up buying this game, I'll probably opt out the moves that are kind of useless without resistance, considering they are not much from what you are saying. :)
I got this game downloaded a few days ago and I would say it's more effective at fitness than Ring Fit Adventure. It is the daily circuit which automatically selects exercises to fit your goal. I lost weight after every 1 hour session so far, in addition to the food diary I am now keeping.
I was leery at first, but after watching this vid, I think I'm willing to give the game a try. 50 USD is a bit high for me at this time, but maybe I can spare the kablinki next month. Other Switch titles I found myself looking at were Yoga Master and Let's Get Fit. Have you got any videos or opinions on those titles?
I have a full review on Lets Get Fit, I think its got great bodyweight moves and interesting circuits and score based gameplay. I'm not mad keen on Yoga Master, but each to their own.
Out of all the fitness games available on Switch, which would you recommend I try next? I've triple-cleared Ring Fit Adventure, and am less than a month away from getting the final achievements in Fitness Boxing 2. Novelty is a big part of holding my attention... I like having stuff to unlock, and in-game goals to work towards. Ideally I'd like to get something available here in North America, but I could also import, like, the Hatsune Miku game that just came out if it's your recommendation.
I've been enjoying the demo, but am on the fence about actually buying the game. The motion tracking issue doesn't bother me too much personally (I just yell at the screen "F U, I'm doing it right"). My big problem with the game is just having to stop between every. single. exercise. to see the score/xp. I semi-appreciated that all the waiting around gave me time to grab my resistance band/dumbbells/whatever. I even see some good kettlebell exercises coming up that I haven't unlocked yet. I have 2 questions: 1. Does it make you wait for scores/xp during "Custom Circuit" as well, or is that only in "Daily Circuit"? 2. Could you explain a little more why using weights during gameplay is a bad idea? Is it just because it might be awkward to hold, or am I going to actually injure myself? Save me before I get to those kettlebell exercises 😅
1) The EXP wait is prevalent in Custom as well...I'm with you, I wish it were all calculated at the end. 2) Its a safety issue. If you're holding the joycons, you're not holding the weight properly and safely, which leaves you more prone to injury. You're better off learning the movement pattern and mechanics in the game and then replicating them with weight under control outside of the game in a seperate workout.
It has the same issue as any other fitness "game". It's a workout program, not a game. I tried the demo and got bored in 2min. Then I started ring fit and sweated my ass off for 1h because I wanted to beat the boss before stopping. That is the greatness of rfa. (Dance games are awesome also if you are into that). Come on nintendo...rfa2.
Hi! I'm thinking about buying this fitness game, that's why I saw your review. I've already played the demo and I really liked it, but I also think that adding weight is missing. Do you think that adding weights for the arms and legs would fill this gap? thanks for the video and opinion!
Thank you so much for the video, I have tried the demo and instantly bought it with the current -50% sale ! I have Ring Fit and my sport coach friend made a personalised weekly program for me. I love Ring Fit but I felt like it lacked a bit of the cardio factor. So I would complement with Just Dance however Fitness Circuit has been a godsend for rising the heart rate ! I feel like both program complement each others, Ring Fit for muscle training and Fitness Circuit for cardio. The detection are indeed a bit wonky and I have realise there were some moves I had to exaggerate or maybe change the speed. Overall I really love this game and as a weeb I totally dig the aesthetic. As for the warm up and stretching, I love them and I prefer them to Ring Fit, although I do appreciate the personalised stretching from Ring Fit according to your type of exercise. My friend holds a similar stance regarding using elastic band, can you elaborate why you don't recommend them ? I wish I could add some resistance to the muscle exercises from Fitness Circuit. Thank you so much for your hard work and doing in depth review of these fitness video games !
Great review! Do you think you could help get around the strength exercise limitations (no weights) by wearing wrist weights? Edit: I commented too early, I see you don't recommend it. Any reason why? It seems like it could make it more effective once you've got the moves nailed down.
Wrist weights under good control can be effective, but the weight plays with your centre of gravity enough that you can cause ligament/tendon damage if you're not paying attention. For moves like Bent Over Row and Upright Row, it wouldn't be a huge risk, but for others it can be. The other thing is, you're not likely to add enough resistance with the wrist weights for it to really be that much more stimulating to the muscles. And if you do add signinifcant enough weight, then that weight distribution is centred away from your centre enough that it increases injury risk more. You're better off learning the moves biomechanically and then replicating those movements under proper weight with proper control.
@@MasterTrainerPeter as in the ring targets all muscles, does offer resistance and also does cardio well. The stretching routines are a bit basic but there's plenty of decent variations. Not to mention the gameplay is kind of an addictive loop that helps you stay motivated
@@fitterniti I see what you mean. I've always thought of holistic workouts as specifically targeting ALL the cells of a muscle, different twitch fibres etc. So yeah, RFA is much more adept for that.
my objective is cardio, and I can´t do high impact exercises, so I think this game is perfect for me, I have ring fit, but can´t use it without silent mode anymore, because I can´t jump. For cardio, ring fit uses jumps, this game apparentely is better for me now.
I was very excited for this game to be released, but actually playing the demo kind of let me down... As mentioned in the video, the bad tracking of movements is frustrating and the lack of a story line is demotivating. I think those are little things that could be incorporated and improve the gaming experience by a lot. Still, once I finish the extra worlds in Ring Fit Adventure, I will likely buy this game.
I have enough of the cardio preferences. I have cut down on Ring Fit sessions so I can fill in resistance work at the back end. There are enough sets, but my arms are not keeping up.
Thanks for the review! I was wondering how important is the timing of your movements in this game? My TV is older and has some bad input lag, so games like Fitness Boxing can get tricky to play due to the rhythm aspect but games like RFA are fine. I want to be able to just focus on my form and not have to overcompensate my timing on my movements which is my main concern with jumping into this game.
I'm having issues with certain exercises like the knee to elbow one I be doing the exact thing even to trying but every time I fail it 😢 I tried to change my height even to holding to the controller right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Is there a way the game can be used by two family members? Like two profiles? I was watching a few tests and nobody addressed that. I think it‘s a shame that only one family member can use it. Very disappointing for me
I like the idea of Fitness Circuit but it's seriously held back by the Switch's trash tier Joycons which are the most temperamental and badly-put together pieces of Made-in-a-Chinese-warehouse-by-a-child-laborer garbage. The movement detection, like you've said, is just frustrating to deal with 9 times out of 10 to the point I wanted to shut it off so many times and follow some TH-cam training videos instead. I also agree that a lot of the strength exercises are really poor, particularly the one at 2:49, that one is just begging for a kettlebell or a dumbell or anything that actually adds some weight. The cardio is good, but the failed movement detection just kills this game. Honestly just find videos of the warm-ups in this game online and follow those before you do your normal exercise routine instead of actually playing lol
I play only demo. The Music of the game is the WORST can sent me to sleep easily. How can exercise game like this. The game story content is also bad. it is very borring donot induce me to play on. But yes it can make me panting in fewer period than RFA or FB2. And it give me a new fresh movement exercise For the exercier way YES! Buy First, get Healthy First! For the gamer way hm... this game quite not much fun and very little content. It's too much expensive. I hesitate.
If you're finding the exercising less than stimulating...then go for RFA :) The point of exercise games is to keep you entertained as you work out, so if thats not happening, no point in continuing!
Thank you so much for your Switch-Fitness-games reviews. I was hesitant to buy a Switch but it really changed my life. RingFit, Circuit and Zumba are my favourites.

1) The EXP wait is prevalent in Custom as well...I'm with you, I wish it were all calculated at the end.

Adding weights to these sorts of games can be dangerous if done incorrectly. I wouldn't recommend it for Fitness Circuit at all.
@@MasterTrainerPeter wow!! Thank you so much for your in depth response. That makes sense!
This is primarily why I stick to Ring Fit Adventure. It's yet to let me down when it comes to overall holistic workouts
Holistic workouts??
@@MasterTrainerPeter as in the ring targets all muscles, does offer resistance and also does cardio well. The stretching routines are a bit basic but there's plenty of decent variations. Not to mention the gameplay is kind of an addictive loop that helps you stay motivated
@@fitterniti I see what you mean. I've always thought of holistic workouts as specifically targeting ALL the cells of a muscle, different twitch fibres etc.
So yeah, RFA is much more adept for that.
I’m interested, but perhaps I need to attach wrist weights to compensate for the lack of resistance in arm exercises… 🤔
Your choice if you want to, but as I say in the review, I dont often recommend them.
my objective is cardio, and I can´t do high impact exercises, so I think this game is perfect for me, I have ring fit, but can´t use it without silent mode anymore, because I can´t jump. For cardio, ring fit uses jumps, this game apparentely is better for me now.
Fantastic, this is low impact cardio at some of its best on Switch. I've got a low impact cardio custom circuit coming soon, check it out
I was very excited for this game to be released, but actually playing the demo kind of let me down... As mentioned in the video, the bad tracking of movements is frustrating and the lack of a story line is demotivating. I think those are little things that could be incorporated and improve the gaming experience by a lot. Still, once I finish the extra worlds in Ring Fit Adventure, I will likely buy this game.
I'd love more games to have proper storylines! Honestly its what I'm anticipating from the next Fitness Boxing title.
Timing is fairly important, but its also relatively forgiving. Having the joycons in the right position is more important!
Would you recommend the Fitness Circuit over Ringfit Adventure?
What is your goal? That changes the answer IMO, but typically RFA can do a lot more for you than FC
@@MasterTrainerPeter I've lost quite a bit of weight but still unfit. Now I want to at least have a fit body
I'm having issues with certain exercises like the knee to elbow one I be doing the exact thing even to trying but every time I fail it 😢 I tried to change my height even to holding to the controller right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I figured it out so apparently my arms are shorter so I had to bring them down lower than expected 😩
Is there a way the game can be used by two family members? Like two profiles? I was watching a few tests and nobody addressed that. I think it‘s a shame that only one family member can use it. Very disappointing for me
Late but Id youre playing on the switch I don't see why you csnt create a separate profile and use it like that
Hi, would you recommend Fitness Circuit or Ring Fit Adventure?
Depends on your fitness ability and what you need it for, but in general Ring Fits workouts are better.
Ah okay, thank you!
I just need one for some basic daily movement since I'm working from home.
Looks fun, but don't have much free time with my new job, so I will stick with Ring Fit
Oh boy I know that feeling. All the best!
I was thinking to buy Let’s get fit … but maybe this one is better?
I have ring fit already, but have been playing Home Fit a lot more … should I get Let’s get fit or Fitness Circuit?
If you want to focus on bodyweight more (and can get the straps), go Lets Get Fit. If you want cardio, Fitness Circuit
@@MasterTrainerPeter Great thanks!
Is this better than ringfit?
Its different, but I'd say Ring FIt is better as an overall exercise option
Honestly just find videos of the warm-ups in this game online and follow those before you do your normal exercise routine instead of actually playing lol
where's the trainer ???? hello ?????????????????????????
Im a personal trainer bro
You gotta close the mouth when taking pics
Every youtuber does this
Oh hey look it's Ring Fit for weebs
I play only demo. The Music of the game is the WORST can sent me to sleep easily. How can exercise game like this.
The game story content is also bad. it is very borring donot induce me to play on.
But yes it can make me panting in fewer period than RFA or FB2.
And it give me a new fresh movement exercise
For the exercier way YES!
@@MasterTrainerPeter that's right. The Game has to be fun and engaging! Or just drop down price!
