It's definitely not up to manga or anime but for non manga readers or non anime watchers it's a good adaptation and yes they did broke the curse. I'm really impressed with VFX, set design, etc.

Currently completed 5 episodes and I have mixed opinions. As someone who has watched the anime, the new and different scenes were interesting but kinda weird too. But they are not affecting the plot so it’s fine. But it’s undoubtedly a great watch for someone not familiar with the source material. Netflix did a really good job with production!!
The best live adaptation so far It’s shows how characters would be if they were human So seeing it just shows how much time and effort all of them had put on

I had neither watched the one-piece anime nor read the manga, but I absolutely love the live action version. I know some people would say some scenarios didn't feel logical, but this is a anime. If you keep that in mind, and actually had watch any anime, you would really love it and on top of that it's also available japanese🤩.
Tbh I loved every bit of it...the casting is amazing...the sets are enormous...the background score is top notch...the villans were even more menacing...and the action is very well choreographed ..and most importantly the spirit of One Piece was definitely there. You can always knit pick about this and that (even for me some scene didn't hit my emotions as they should)...but still it was absolutely phenomenal...!!

Coby and Helmeppo had the best performances for side characters. Strawhats are all great...but wanted to see more emphasis on Ussop.. Zoro-Sanji dynamic was great. The subtle gags on Zoro were chef's kiss. I ended up liking Garp by the end... Only in episode 8 we'll understand they actually didn't deviate much for Garp's character... And in fact it was pretty much loyal to the Garp's character in the manga. Arlong is actually intimidating in the show, unlike the trailers and intial doubts. There r very few negatives compared to many great things that this show got right..! Negatives: I wish the backstories are Little more fleshed out , just 5 min extra per episode would've done wonders. Or cutting CobyMeppo B plot a little to accommodate and flesh out the backstories and the supporting characters like Genzo, Nojiko... My main issue was Nami's backstory could've been lot better if only it was 2-3 min longer. But with the decision of Nojiko and Gen san's character unaware of the truth, it can't be helped. Nami in denial and desperation accepting that she'll do it all again to protect everyone and then Gen san consoling her... Then the help me... That sequence in animanga was powerful. I donno why they had to change the fact that Nojiko and Gen san were aware of the truth. This is my main issue. 2 more minutes of screen time emphasizing Ussop's fear vs being brave inspite of the fear while fighting Chew 2 more minutes to emphasize kid Sanji being wasteful with food and Adult Sanji being staunch about nit wasting any. Otherwise it's near perfect for what it's trying to be..as an adaptation and a TV show. I liked the Garp part after watching episode 8 inspiteof my doubts.. all the chnages makes sense.. in retrospect. So, trust Oda sensei and enjoy the ride.. as It's still the same one piece in different flavor. Episodes 1, 2, 4, 6 are my favorite. As Nami's story was rushed, it didn't have that much impact, still in teared up unknowingly.. So, episode 7 is near perfection. Mihawk is highlight of episode 5. Episode 3 is a lot smoother experience than the anime, yet is a lot condensed. Episode 8 has some surprises which I liked.. wrapping up and giving us a lot more into Garp's character. Anime has set such a high bar, that it has done really great into adapting it all in 8 episodes yet made me feel stuff, inspite of it being first of it's kind, as nothing like this has been attempted before and they did the impossible in first attempt and succeded for the most part. One piece story in Season 1 is just a beginning and it'll only get better and better, and if they learn from this experience and improve further in season 2, it'll create wonders for sure.
There are some mistake... The clothes of fishmen dried so fast... In episode 8 Usopp bleed on his chest but after he killed the fishmen and went back there was so blood on his chest... Also the fight scene of Captain Morgan... The way he use axe on one scene felt like an error .. apart from that it was the best Netflix anime live adaptation series so far... Can't deny
They did a good job not overhyping the show on the trailer....i was not expecting anything much but i was so surprised by how good it is... Kudos to the one piece project

I have watched till ep 5 and I like the VFX which give feeling and is amazing giving new feel of freedom. But the part the missed about nami intro in buggy fight and other fights didn't give any feeling it got in anime
The best live action adaptation of any manga till date. Only problem i faced was with the casting of some members of shank's crew. For example Benn Beckmann looks like a drunken man with dad bod in theory he's as powerful as shanks worst casting. Shanks too feel weak but his acting was on point. Othe problems was there are many characters missing from series. Otherwise OPLA couldn't have been better than this.

I think this live action is better than any other Anime Live Action. Because those are usually disappointment. But this is certainly not a disappointed as compared to other Live action. They really put in the work into it. Anime is Peak Fiction of course

This show had everything going against it. Like the anime adaptation curse, the studio meddling from Netflix on certain IP’s like Witcher and Cowboy Bebop, the same studio that made Cowboy Bebop, One Piece being unique and over the top, basically fans declaring it dead on arrival. But it surprised us, and the cast and producers respected the fans, like can you even believe that? I think the show has the potential to get better. If it’s give another season.
i have watched one piece anime 3 times and have been reading manga for last 7 years, after watching this LIVE ADAPTATION I have no complaints except shortened fights but still awesome to look this show so good and enjoyable...
The production quality is high , action is good , acting is on point but. I somehow felt that it will not connect to the anime audience that much because of the changes in story . Because we invested that amount of time with the charectors we got in love with them but i somehow felt short of that emotion . I mean saving luffy underwater was so fucking intense in animanga but here they just rushed out. But i think it's probably the best they could have done. I personally don't think its for anime watcher or manga readers .
Switching to the Japanese audio for the One Piece live-action series on Netflix was a game-changer! The original Japanese voice actors brought so much life to the characters, just like in the anime. Loved it. #OnePiece #Netflix

I was ignoring one piece anime due to its weird faces but there live action version is quite classic. I think its time to finally add one piece to my watching playlist.
My experience with live action is actually better than anime or manga Less melodrama ,less over expressing emotions,things are bit more subtle ,only problem that I felt world building is bit less
I remember watching initial episode almost 20years ago. The tenacity of Captain Kuro with small details that he adjusted his glasses with his palm because he wears thise gloves, the details missed in this real-time. But overall it was not bad.
This series is far better then my expectations but still I fell there are many cuts made as compare to one piece animation there can be more emotional and goosebumps scenes that should be added like luffy slaps koby, why sanji only uses his legs and sanji seems more like jojo I was expecting that he should be more gentle and small face. Most of the things are too good Looking forward for season 2

*SPOILERS* Changes I didn't like in the series: Luffy was nerfed and a bit too serious. His main characteristic is his goofiness and him not giving a fu**. Also they made him a bit weak than he is in the Anime. Sanji only smoked like once.. I know it's not that big deal but I always imagine Sanji smoking and kicking a**. It defines the badassness. They gave koby way too much screen time than he gets in the anime. I've only seen him for like 4 episodes in the whole East blue saga arc. Also I'm not that far away in the anime so I didn't know Garp was Luffy's grandpa. So the series kinda ruined it for me. Overall, I liked the series.. I wasn't happy about few changes they did.. But it was okay. Hope to see the second season after catching upto the anime..

Watch it again properly. The blood thing was sauce, he used sauce to pretend to be dead. It was there in the scene. I dont know how you missed it. 😅😅

I think this live action is better than any other Anime Live Action. Because those are usually disappointment. But this is certainly not a disappointed as compared to other Live action. They really put in the work into it.

This show had everything going against it. Like the anime adaptation curse, the studio meddling from Netflix on certain IP’s like Witcher and Cowboy Bebop, the same studio that made Cowboy Bebop, One Piece being unique and over the top, basically fans declaring it dead on arrival. But it surprised us, and the cast and producers respected the fans, like can you even believe that? I think the show has the potential to get better. If it’s give another season.
i have watched one piece anime 3 times and have been reading manga for last 7 years, after watching this LIVE ADAPTATION I have no complaints except shortened fights but still awesome to look this show so good and enjoyable...
The production quality is high , action is good , acting is on point but. I somehow felt that it will not connect to the anime audience that much because of the changes in story . Because we invested that amount of time with the charectors we got in love with them but i somehow felt short of that emotion . I mean saving luffy underwater was so fucking intense in animanga but here they just rushed out. But i think it's probably the best they could have done. I personally don't think its for anime watcher or manga readers .

zoro, kuro, mihawk, zeff and arlong park were done superbly well. Ben beckman's actor looked bogus, everything else was amazing.
Switching to the Japanese audio for the One Piece live-action series on Netflix was a game-changer! The original Japanese voice actors brought so much life to the characters, just like in the anime. Loved it. #OnePiece #Netflix
As a viewer who didn't know anything about this anime (other than knowing its name)
I felt very submerged in this web series...now I am thinking about watching the anime,overall for me I didn't felt bored and "speedy" ,felt quite consistent with its story

Loved it , it actually solved the initial lag issue of one-piece anime. And they even followed manga where Jeff eats his leg.
I really liked this adaptation they did their best and present this show beautifully in just 8 episode hats off to the whole team eagerly waiting for S02

I liked it so much . Must watch . Don't ever compare this with anime because in reality many things are impossible to do in a limited series. Anyways i enjoyed this series a lot. Also great amount character developments in a short time.

As a one piece fan,,live action mai bohat jyada cut kiya gya h and it feels very fast aur story mai bhii changes kiya gya h,,,overall it was Ok for me,,,for non anime fans it's a very good show.
I was ignoring one piece anime due to its weird faces but there live action version is quite classic. I think its time to finally add one piece to my watching playlist.

Less melodrama ,less over expressing emotions,things are bit more subtle ,only problem that I felt world building is bit less
I remember watching initial episode almost 20years ago.
The tenacity of Captain Kuro with small details that he adjusted his glasses with his palm because he wears thise gloves, the details missed in this real-time.
But overall it was not bad.
It was good so far, the changes in story were surprising, but it still fits quite well. Worth a watch.

This series is far better then my expectations but still I fell there are many cuts made as compare to one piece animation there can be more emotional and goosebumps scenes that should be added like luffy slaps koby, why sanji only uses his legs and sanji seems more like jojo I was expecting that he should be more gentle and small face. Most of the things are too good

I would have watched 5 ep till now but i am enjoying it in all 3 languages although i didn't like eng dubbing very much and with Japanese dub i like they hired real voice actor but there voice kind of giving a heavy vibe its hard to imagine luffy voice in enyone except luffy itself but still its exceded my exceptation and i don't know why but buggys charcter feels kinda scary

It could still work if they introduce him later on just before the Sabaody arc, we meet him for the first time but Nami recognises him so we get a few flashbacks and then it'll be the same as the anime

Changes I didn't like in the series:
Luffy was nerfed and a bit too serious. His main characteristic is his goofiness and him not giving a fu**. Also they made him a bit weak than he is in the Anime.
Sanji only smoked like once.. I know it's not that big deal but I always imagine Sanji smoking and kicking a**. It defines the badassness.
They gave koby way too much screen time than he gets in the anime. I've only seen him for like 4 episodes in the whole East blue saga arc.
Also I'm not that far away in the anime so I didn't know Garp was Luffy's grandpa. So the series kinda ruined it for me.
Overall, I liked the series.. I wasn't happy about few changes they did.. But it was okay. Hope to see the second season after catching upto the anime..

@@PhoenixLucido bro the first time luffy sees him on the ship he says, "Grandpa?" And there's a whole conversation of Nami and Zoro and Nami and luffy about it. At the last episode they both fight too. There are conversations with Garp mentioning him as his grandson
