hi im back after almost a full year. this song was supposed to be released back in 2021, and i've had the lyrics done as far back as 2019. but as you know, life happens :p
the guide / shinsekai annaisho / new world guidebooth - however you want to call it - this song is almost sort of a vent cover for me. as you know i've been around here for years now, and basically held witness to the evolution of the vocaloid utaite community. but the older i get, the more i feel like i have one hand on my irl life and the other desperately clinging on to whatever is left of my crumbling internet career.
from my days as someone a lot of people looked up to, to now being basically "one of the OG english youtaites who just sort of fell off," i can't help but feel a little resentful at the way things turned out. not at others, but at myself for not being able to get where i wanted to be. it's hard not to think of what could have been had i been a little more smart about how i approached this, or if i could have listened to you all more, or if only my own interests lined up with what everyone loved and wanted from me.
but it's times like this i need to do some introspection - why did i start? what kept me going? what do i hope to get out of all of this?
and i remember the girl who used to sing for fun, who only ever wanted her love of vocaloid to reach those who couldn't understand it and make an impact on their lives, no matter how small.
in the end, if you can find some meaning and comfort out of this in the context of your own life, then.. that's more than enough. thank you for listening.

Read the description and wow. I feel a little guilty admitting this but I definitely discovered you a lot more recently than most people around here. I was never bothered by the lack of recent uploads since I was met with what felt like hundreds of covers to enjoy, and ones I've never heard before constantly autoplay while I was working or programming or going on walks. And naturally, this kickstarted my vocaloid obsession and gave me the push I needed to really start getting into artists like deco, yorushika, ayase, etc. Even if you feel like things aren't going too great for your online career, please never forget the incredible legacy you already have. I'm certain that even if you gave up and left entirely (god forbid), there would still be hundreds of people just like me who come across your older music, get hooked, and develop a lovely new vocaloid obsession (or at the very least, a huge appreciation for all the amazing japanese artists and songs out there). Whatever happens, I hope things turn out well for you. Just take it easy and always keep it fun for yourself.
In other news... I've already listened to this cover plenty of times on spotify and... it absolutely slaps. The Guide is easily one of my favorite deco songs but I never really understood what it meant due to the strange lack of online mentions for the song. So when I noticed the cover was out I basically lost my mind. You went so incredibly above and beyond with this one, and I especially adore all the extra touches towards the last chorus and end of the song. The cover was also first released during a pretty stressful week of my life and I found myself constantly coming back to it for some kind of comfort. -Don't tell deco but- I'd definitely consider this cover to be one of my favorite songs ever, maybe even #1 for the time being. It goes extremely hard, but also hits extremely hard.
I'm not very good at writing about this stuff and maybe I got a little too carried away but still, thank you for everything. And I hope things turn out alright.

Anyways though, thank you for making songs. Really - I discovered them (with my sister's help) soon after moving two years ago, and after falling down the Yourishika rabbit hole I realized vocaloid was actually a lot free-er than general mainstream songs, and it helped me contextualise and realise a lot of my own issues. Themes of depression, suicide, social masking, extestentialism, lost opportunity, and the like really made me feel, well, normal. That other people before me had walked this very road and they survived to tell the tale. I won't say you've saved my life - but I do know I'm currently at an emotional high, and you will probably save my life.

I read the description and want to say that you haven’t fallen off! Everyone has their IRL things to worry about and focusing on your real life is way more important than this unsteady youtube career. TH-cam and streaming is really unstable and you could lose your entire career from just one small mistake. I think you made the right choice and your streams have helped me through my exams last year so thank you for that!
My older brother is visiting, the first time I've seen him in two years. We used to sing your covers together all the time, we're both long time fans. It felt so fitting that this came out while he was here.
He seems pretty calm and pleased listening to it, but I'm feeling a lot right now. I don't want him to go back home, I miss him, he's been my best friend and mentor for much of my life. I know he'll probably see this and I'll feel embarrassed, but I love ya brother!

He knew I had some friends who were feeling suicidal, so he played it 3 times on the way back, and he made sure I was listening closely and even sang it to me. We've sung that song so much together and it's helped me hold myself tight when I needed to most, and to be there for all my friends that needed me.
I had known maybe one or two vocaloid songs before. I didn’t acknowledge or care though, not enough to even know what “vocaloid” meant.
Then, I stumbled upon one of your covers. I think it was My R, two years ago. After that I listened to a ton more of your covers. My playlist was flooded with them.
Then, I found even more creators. After awhile of only listening to covers, I tried out the originals. Thanks to that I’ve found so many amazing singers, bands, writers, even artists! I couldn’t ask for better music. All thanks to the one cover by you, that made me fall into the rabbit hole.

When I first found this song, I was stunned that there wasn't any English cover for it. It's pretty much my favourite song by Deco*27, and your version of it is just... well, I don't have enough adjectives to describe it :p. I'm definitely going to be replaying this incessantly for the foreseeable future.
On a different note, I think I found Vocaloid about six years ago (maybe longer) and I listened to English utaites at the same time for both the translated lyrics and the more human voice. You were like the second one I knew, I've listened to a fair amount of your covers (especially the Deco*27 ones) and enjoyed the hell out of them. I'm not a part of the community and idk what's going on, but I hope you find what you're looking for.

Whenever I listen to a vocaloid song for the first time, I always go "has Rachie covered this?", and I search whether you did or not. I've loved your singing for a long time, and the amount of work you put into getting everything out to us. You've helped me through many rough patches even though you don't even know my name, haha. I think I found you through your "Circles" cover, or your "My R" cover. I think it was the former. And that was one of the very few gateways towards vocaloid and covers, and most importantly, your voice! I appreciate what you do and I'm so glad I stumbled across you and your work in my life.

We, as human beings, are cursed to forever echo the feeling of emptiness and loneliness that this seemingly cheerful song presents. We are the only creatures on this earth that have reached sentience, self-awareness, an understanding of the world around us to such an extent that we can even question our reason for living. And yet, it is that *very understanding* that curses us.
We question who we are. We question why we are here. We question where we should go, and what we should believe. Some of us simply wander on, hoping to find the answers on our own. Others, such as myself, choose to ask GOD for help. And yet, this song almost echoes what we would get as a response. Imagine, if you would, that our creator would choose to answer those cries of agony, to show you where to go, what to do, how to live. Would not those very words echo every chorus of this song? Practically begging us to see the error of how we live, the error in trying to find guidance from someone else?
Nowhere is this more apparent than in Rachie's translated lyrics. Practically every chorus shows the hell we live right at the start, and the nonsensical desire many of us share in seeking the void.

"You're saying 'Guide me through this world' but it - Looks like you wanna make a break for it - *So let's go, so let's go we'll take the leap and end the suffering right now"*
And immediately after, the singer is trying to make us see the fault in that line of thinking.

And finally, it culminates in the final chorus of the song. The one we are asking for guidance is *begging, pleading with us* to swap places with them, even for just a day. Even going as far as to state we don't even have to try, let alone do our best. And at the very end, when all the words have been spent, are the words I hate connecting with the most.

Such a happy and joyfully upbeat song, echoing words that many would say could only come from the mind of one who is depressed, or even diseased. And yet, they are the things people like me do not wish to face. Things that have no answer, things that make us question everything we know, fraying the very edges of our reality into a tattered mess.
Welcome back!! And don't worry, we understand that you have a life. Trying to figure out how to balance it all is definitely a challenge, especially in your early/mid 20's! I felt like starting my life in my mid 20's was quite a delay, but now, looking where I'm at now compared to where I started from almost 3 years ago, it's somewhat of a night and day difference. And I know it'll get better as time goes on.
Honestly, several of your Yorushika songs that you released on your cover album last year have REALLY been a blessing for me. Almost a year now. Especially these past couple of months--I'll sing along to those covers in my car like there's no tomorrow because I'm emotionally going through a lot right now. And your Yorushika covers help immensely. So I thank you for all of your hard work!

I've heard this song before, but not really understanding it never resonated with me. But hearing you reflecting yourself in it kinda... opens it up.
I've listened since I think 2014. And songs, especially the ones kinda given life by utaite are tied to moments. Life events or feelings I had then are tied to those songs. And I've always sort of taken it for granted that the voices I've always heard would still be making new things. I'd see a new cover from you and that would be linked to the next moment. Looking forward to what you'd either introduce or give a new meaning to or show. And I'm glad you're still here.
What I mean to say is: you've meant and continue to mean a lot and will in the future still mean so much to many people like me.

Reading the description I feel so old. I’ve was watching you years ago but then I stopped listening to vocaloid but i remember some of the English cover artists I listened to yours included. And I always wanted to be a cover singer. But I never had the equipment or even the confidence. (Even now I’m still not confident in my singing) but listening to your covers always made me smile. It’s nice that your back. And I hope you can sing because you enjoy it. Balancing life and everything else can be hard but as long as you are happy then it’s okay.

As a long time listener it has been a real treat to hear you get better and better over time, real life usually get's harder over time and it is understandable that the uploads become less frequent over time. In the net there has been a shift aboutu stars buurning brightest then flickering out to be forgotten in an instant so the constant grind of the OG may seem like falling off but I think there's comfort on knowing that those things you made stay (still going back to love lost elegy cover from time to time) and that the person who made that may not be the most active but has been there for a long time and possibly will be there in the future too.
