Nice one Rich. Them pre drilled holes are too coincidental for the Spektrum 8s esc. Should have this from the outset IMO. Hope this solves the heat issues rich. 👍

I cut the lip off the esc plate on my exb and got a mamba monster x 8s in like it was meant to be. Once I got rid of that lip by the spur gear tons of room.

I knew many moons ago arma would have an 8s version of this car waiting to be introduced.

What if u just run 8s esc on 6s with the 6s motor should run faster since more amps are coming through plus will it cut out still like it does at full throttle?

Hi there, I am facing the same issue as everyone with Felony overheating and wanted to upgrade my ESC. I've found this video but I cannot understand why do you need those extra cables. The default ESC has 6.5mm connectors as well. What am I missing?
The extensions are pretty much non existing here in Poland, I would have to order them from USA which would be very expensive for 3 cables.

I put the same ESC plus the motor, heat sink and fan out of a outcast 8s into my one Infraction to run on 8s, motor was bit of a shoehorn with the stock mount but got it in.
man I'd not thought about the 8s outcast motor! I should have but as I always say I learn as much from you guys each day as you hopefully do from me! I'm a big fan of the poseidon motors and run twins on my infraction. The power hobby fan on the motor has made a huge difference. just got new battery charger, finishing up video on that and using it to charge 2x4s for use tomorrow!
@@DriftomaniacsRC I used the motor, heat sink and fan, it’s a tight fit with the heat sink and as small of a pinion as you can run is 21t, but don’t think you would want any smaller anyway. I had to loosen the motor mount from the chassis to get it started into the mount with the heat sink on, but fits nice.

Those 8s esc are basically the same.(except Cap pack) The 6s, if kept, does need a @Game Changer RC fan! Much cheaper than getting new esc. I do like the Castle ESC but I also like the S.M.A.R.T system as a whole. The APP we are developing could work with either unless, HORIZON or CASTLE wants to buy it...lol...I think it's a win 4 your v2 though.
I wish I would’ve seen this earlier. My Felony ESC caught fire tonight and I’m fairly sure it was a fan issue.
You think 🤔 it can handle bashing with the speed gear pinion on 6s with that new ESC or just stick to speeds runs ?
I'm hopeful it'll handle both, if not then spektrum/horizon have some MAJOR warranty issues to address!
I put a 29t pinion on my Felony and ran it hard for a good 20 minutes, I think this spectrum esc has a slight edge on the blx system.

Just unboxed my Felony! It’s comes with 150amp esc. It is the new v2 model, will it handle 8s???
No the stock esc is only 6s rated and won't take 8s (And it struggles with 6s to be honest), the esc is probably your first upgrade although I'd go for a castle XLX2

If you put fan's on your 2050kv motor you can run 8s. I run 8s on my kraton BLX 6s

I have the same setup running on 8S stock motor the stock motor gets hot u need two fans
I was thinking about the power hobby twin turbo fan setup I use on my infraction motors only this morning.

My stock ESC is taking a pounding no issues with heat. I think you may have got a defective stock ESC. My motor runs pretty hot, but still stays under 160 hard bashing. The ESC stays under 140...
gizmo I bought TWO infraction V1's (NOTE NOT V2's) on day one over a year ago, BOTH esc's overheated in under two weeks on the stock gearing. This is a problem that should have been addressed. Yes the esc was defective BUT the fact that horizon is out of stock of 150A esc's? Doesn't that set alarm bells ringing in your head? This car like the infraction v1 before it needs a bigger or more reliable esc, not laying this at arrma's feet, horizon dictate what they are supplied with, warranty bill though? Well if they'd spent $10 more per car (probable cost to them?) they'd have no warranty issues! Anyone from horizon care to comment on the warranty replacement costs?

The 150amp Firma esc can't handle 6s. I'd like to know if the 160amp Firma will actually be able to handle 8s without cutting out...
Well I ran the same 'dynamite fuse' one on my DB XLE for 4years on 8s without any issues AND that thing is double the weight of this BUT we shall see, as I'll test the hell out of it now 3 sets of rear tires are on their way!!! :-) If it overheats you guys and girls will be the first to know

and this is designed to drop straight into that space, you'd need to measure the XLX 2 - that said I have one in the garage awaiting install on another car so I may see if it fits, but I'll stick with this at the minute
,it’s no secret. The sticker sheet for my felony has 8s stickers on the sheet along with 6s.

Due to thermal issues with my MK1 infraction, I won't buy another 1/7 Arrma until it comes with a better ESC. In fact, I just bought myself a Traxxas. Lost sale Horizon.

I UNDERSTAND THAT, that's unfortunate. I wish you would still give ARRMA a chance, but I agree 100%, for that $$, it should have no real issues. I always say wait for v2 or v3 now. Sadly. Traxxas makes great products to. As long as you are still RCing, that's the main thing. Some people don't know how to replace/upgrade or have a hobby shop within 150 miles. Experiences like that cause a lot of people to just quit the rc world. Thanks for hanging in there!

This is a good esc brother but come with problems I literally replace three of these one literally just fried on me without me even doing speed runs or overheating it the second one came buy factory defected it would turn on turn off turn on turn off While running my car third one literally almost caught on fire 🔥 But good luck out there
what car were you running it on? Also are we talking about the stock 150A esc or this 160A one? If we're talking the stock 150A one I'd agree with you. This 160A one is a different beast and I run the older version of it in my DB XLE without a problem and that weighs over double this
I notice when I got my felony that the sticker sheet has 6s and 8s stickers 🤔 I think A V2 version is coming..
