      Ah cool. I hope this video series is a help to him. I found that I spent by far the most time painting the body on this one. You could leave it more plain of course. I wish him luck with the build and thank you for the comment 😁

    Hiya Pete! Finally got some time 🙃🙂 I like the pace of the video. Very well done. Interesting with all the super glue. And interesting with the 2WD solution for the uprights. On the WT-01 they just changed the WR-01 wheel axle but kept the same plastic parts. I like the wheelie bar ‘pointing proudly upwards’ 😅🙂👍🏻

      Ah well done for finding the time to watch these. I know that there are about a million RC channels and most of them have got worthwhile vids to watch. Yes the only problem I had with the original GF-01 was the screws shaking loose eventually and this is largely the same so I used super glue on the bits that get shaken the most. Oh yes I had to get some slight innuendo in this. I see you have commented on the others so I'll reply in a sec....

    Hi Pete, this is a fantastic instructional video, mate! Well paced and very well presented as always. Those tips and tricks along the way were a great addition to the build. Looking forward to the following videos. Looks like a miserable weekend up here, weather-wise. Still, we can get some tinkering done I suppose. I'm still on sick leave and these 4 walls are getting a bit boring now! Hope to get out soon and run that Lunchbox! Take care and wishing you a lovely weekend, mate. :))

      Hiya matey. Many thanks indeed. I'm just videoing part 2 at the mo. I actually did the body first which was rather time consuming as you might have gathered by the number of times I said that I was still painting bits in it. I just need to complete the chassis which shouldn't take too long. Yes the old weather isn't very good. It's a shame that you have to spend yet more time at home but hopefully you are moving in the right direction health wise. Always indoor RC tinkering to be done. Not much else planned this weekend. Next weekend is a beer festival at the brewery I go to. They've got plenty of space as it's a farm and there is a barn to shelter in if it's raining. Hopefully be good as it's the first organised event we've been to in well over a year. Any, take it easy my friend. Best wishes 😁

    Ahh Haa, so you've finally got your Willy out on show for everyone to have a good look at 🤔 Good point about the tiddly washer for the wishbone movement, better to be nice and moveable as opposed to hard and solid with no movement and then something breaks.... Looking forward to Pt.2 😎

      Hiya Pete. Yeah as you know the body shell has been a side project for weeks but it's finally finished so I built the chassis which didn't take long although videoing makes it take about 3 times longer than it would. Anyway it's nearly finished now so hopefully get the second (final) part out next Saturday. Many thanks for getting me the kit. Been a while but I got it done in the end. Hey did your mate ever show up at Holmsley the other day?

    You can use the spare bits left over from the kit to make a damped wheelie bar. The tamiya wild willy is bomb proof had mine 3 years and its still good as new. So far mine has cost 450 or so and has a real metal radio controlled winch, full light kit and runs 8.4v nimh with brushed 550 and modded suspension. I do not do lipo or brushless in any form with my rc cars. Im olde school tamiya.

      Hi there. Yours sounds amazing. I do have another Willy built by someone else and it's modded with working lights and some custom bits. I did find brushless to be too much in this one and mine is now brushed. Solid bit of kit like you say. Many thanks for watching 😁👍

    Hi Pete, hope you’re keeping well. Another great build tutorial and the magnificent Wild Willy. Weather a bit pants here today in Cambridgeshire, so having to do some tinkering with cabling and small modifications. Finally got some 2s LiPo’s and a charger, just performing an unboxing video of this items. I’ve made a spreadsheet log to for the batteries that I have, so I can log the charge voltages, discharge voltages and perform some efficiencies logging on the packs. ( I really must get out more eh?) That Absima brushless motor and ESC, that you have, it will be interesting how the Wild Willy copes with the power, it might do back flips 😉👌😂

      Hiya John. Yes not so bad thanks. Hope you're ok. Yes weather here has been a combination of occasional sun with intermittent heavy rain. Have taken the opportunity to do some work on part 2 of the Willy build vids. I will look out for your video about the lipos. The spreadsheet sounds very nerdy indeed. I love your dedication 😃 Really the only thing is say is to only charge up shortly before your RC session and return them to storage voltage shortly after. Storage is about 3.8 volts per cell. I'm sure that you will notice the difference with your Typhons. Have you got brushless sets for them yet? Anyway, many thanks for watching my friend. Best wishes to you 😁

      @@JF-RC Hi again mate. Just watching your lipo vid. I've got the Absima set in most of my Tamiyas and it is really good. If you are sticking with 2s then it will be fine. It is ok for 3s but I'd be inclined to get a 100amp one if you wanted to go 3s in your Typhon as it's a lump of a car. 2s is plenty quick in the Arrma tbh. I'm assuming that your pinion on the current brushed set is 3.2mm?

      Many thanks Adam. Yeah it's a great little project and the body shell will keep you busy for a good while. I've test driven this and to be honest the brushless set might be a bit much as it's difficult to go fast with such a high centre of gravity. Just wheelies a lot. Torque Tuned would probably be enough!

    Hi Pete another awesome build vid of a beautiful tamiya rc. With regards to the paper part for the motor do you have to use it as I didn't with my lunchbox. Thanks for the vid can't wait to see a running vid of that bet it will be awesome. Thanks pete for the vid 👍

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya Alex. Many thanks indeed. You know I'm not sure if that little fibre motor plate is entirely necessary. I'm guessing it's so that a hot motor doesn't melt the plastic but it would need to get incredibly hot and really it shouldn't if all is well. If you have managed without it then it must be ok. Thanks again for your great feedback 😁

    First off, great video but I think the super glue is a bit overkill. I know it's to hold the screws but wouldn't Loctite or model glue be little better?

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. It is still possible to remove the screws that have been super glued. It's not as permanent as you might think. Also, never use any kind of threadlock on plastic as it destroys it. I made that mistake on one of my early kits and everything broke! Only use that for metal into metal. Many thanks for your comments. Much appreciated 😁

    Hello Pete! What’s the purpose of the cardboard motor plate on the Wild Willy 2 ? Keeping heat off the plastic gearbox ? Doesn’t seem like it’ll last very long . Do you think it would do any harm to mount the motor without it ? Nice videos by the way!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there. Well I don't think anyone knows for sure but the theory is that it's to protect the plastic from a hot motor. They do last fine as it's sort of fibre board rather than cardboard. The motors don't really get that hot with a standard battery so probably ok without it but I have always used it just in case. Many thanks for your great feedback :-)

    Hi Pete , I am building a Willy and am concerned by how vulnerable the dog bones and cups are to sand and grit !! ( I built a monster beetle and seem to remember some rubber boots ??) any suggestions please . best regards from Wales .

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah they are indeed not ideal for sand although with the big tyres the dog bones are a fair way off the ground. It's not really a huge issue and I do run mine in sand sometimes. It's useful to have a high power blower to get the sand and dirt off after the run. If you are running on the beach then try to avoid it going in the sea because that really is bad for it! Hope you enjoy it when it's done 😁👍

    what if you need to replace parts? and ive never had a screw back out on my tamiya plastic threads, i don't see the need for it

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. I've had screws shake loose in things like suspension before. A super glued screw can still be removed for maintenance. Been doing this for years on loads of kits. I guess it's not necessary for light runs or if you remember to check the screws for tightness occasionally. Many thanks for your feedback 😁
