I have this bag. I love it. Two months as my EDC. I am 6'3" so this bag is proportional to me. It's large but I rarely load it fully. Compared to my Bellroy 38L Transit, it's significantly larger. Materials and zippers: quality through and through. Fit: Large but very comfortable. Pockets: near-perfect layout and size for travel and EDC. Room for passport, phones, sunglasses, wallets. It beats my Bellroy in many ways; shoulder straps, size, water bottle pockets, structure, materials, aluminum stays and zippers. Overall, worth every penny and more. D
@@PackHacker2 You guys have the best reviews. I think your "we have used it for two weeks" is a great starting benchmark. Between semi-crazy dude Chase Reeves and your channel, my bag fetish is reasonably satisfied!
@@PackHacker2 Hi Eric, Can you do a size comparison between the CPL 24, 28 and the CTB35 and other bags? I live in Canada and we never get a chance to see a lot of these bags in person and we have to order them and it's expensive to order something that is not the right size. For example, my Bellroy 38L Transit bag is significantly smaller than my CTB35 and while I like the Bellroy, the strap system is not good for me and I am thinking of the CPL 28 but I am just unsure of size. ;)
I’ll pass your suggestion along, Dean! We do have full reviews of a ton of EVERGOODS gear on our site, so that’s an excellent place to start. Here’s a link to that: packhacker.com/travel-gear/evergoods/ -Eric
6:17 this is my FAVORITE pocket as well. It's huge and I can put everything important in there and have room left over. The civic half zip 26 L is my daily driver and pocket is the same. Suuuper useful
Contrast of colors really help when doing a product review. Its so difficult to see each detail when the bag is the same color as the other bags on the wall and the outfit of the guy wearing it
Great video. I bought this during presale and have used several times on weekends and 10d European travel packed to the max. Great bag - agree with everything in video esp the 2 top zipper “dump/quick access pockets make it so easy to use. All zips and pull tabs very solid and best I have used. Wife uses Bellroy transit backpack plus 38L purchased before Evergoods announced CPT35. Holds about the same amount. I Iike the Evergoods CPT external pockets and water bottle pockets better than Bellroy transit plus. This cpt35 laptop pocket will hold both a PC laptop measuring 14.5” and a 12.9 iPad at same time if you put the laptop in the non elevated larger section. Pricey bag but you get what you pay for. Built to last.
First bag I’ve found that gives the Goruck GR2 34l a run for its money as the ultimate one bag. I have both and they’re fantastic. Best bags I’ve ever owned
Super helpful review, as usual. I always appreciate how thorough the PH reviews are, and how well you show all the parts of a bag. I'm on the fence with this one. 35 liters is about the maximum volume that I can carry comfortably, and holds more stuff than I would usually want to carry. I have the CPL28, which I used recently for a train trip from PGH to PHL and a 1 week stay. In PHL I was on foot getting from the train station to downtown and then to my friend's apartment where I stayed. The 28L size was pretty good, but I'm not sure it would have worked well for a longer trip with a wider variety of activities - especially if I were traveling during the winter. Anyway, I think my sweet spot is closer to 32 liters for a longer trip, especially for colder weather. (Then again I can also work on further minimizing what I carry. I think the hardest part of packing for me is that I'm a knitter, and knitting projects can get kind of bulky, I also like to take along at least one of my hand knit sweaters, haha.)
I had one very briefly but at 5’6, it looked silly on me. I did like the pocketing but was a bit too big and heavy on me unfortunately. Great review as always!
Would this bag work as a personal item for Spirit or JetBlue? I typically fly Delta and it works for that. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this?
This video makes me even more excited as I’m slated to receive mine today. Getting it packed out and on the road and air very quickly. It looks like it’ll have plenty of room for all of my stuff and my little’s stuff, which is the whole reason for the upgrade to this bag. Parenthood requires significantly more organization than I needed before and the dump pockets should help get me there. I don’t see a reason for this to be a EDC bag once at location so I’m probably going to get packable backpack to go into the laptop area, maybe the Aer. I might be able to put a Bellroy Venture Sling down by the small of my back in that compartment. The air-cab-accommodation discomfort won’t be life altering. I’m looking forward to it.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. Looking forward to your review of the new EG CTB26...The 35 looked like a bus on me. Hoping the new one is a happy medium. I still think I'm gonna need load lifters. It's hard for short people (5'6") to find travel bags.
Love the bag, but the only thing that irks me is the attached hip belt! I definitely feel the extra thickness/bulk on my back & I'm tempted to cut them off... but then the resale value T-T
If it was lighter, I would buy it right away. But I need to save weight on the backpack itself for my travels. Thanks for the awesome review though, you're doing amazing work!
Does Pack Hacker have any reviews/recommendations for best OVERALL travel backpack? I need something that is generally accepted not only in the US but abroad as well. Not so big that it won’t fit into carry-on/personal item sizers, but still plenty of room to get the minimalists job done. 😊
First of all thanks for all your reviews. Thanks to them I narrowed my backpacks list to buy to only two: GR2 40l and CTB35. Due to your long experience with GR2 I would like to ask which one would you choose and have few more questions: 1) I'm a tall guy (194cm) so with fully loaded bag I would like to use waist belt. Which one is better and let say more working with longer torso? 2) Which harness system works better? I'm not fully convinced to the CTB35's. It seems that backpack doesn't align to back as good GR2? 3) Do you think that CTB's bottom is solid enough to fasten to rows of molle webbing to attach things like sleeping bag? 4) I would use bag also for EDC and GR2 seems to be less floppy and better structured when not fully loaded. Am I correct? Thanks in advance for your help!
Another great review as always. Before I buy anything carry-related I always check Packhacker for a review. Thank you and your team for what you do. I do have a question. How would you compare this to the GR2 34L? Which would you choose and why? I know you traveled extensively with the GR2 40L. Thanks in advance.
I'd love if Evergoods made their pockets' access reversed to the other side. I usually hand backpacks on my right shoulder. Their backpacks really work if you hang them on the left shoulder.

Yes. Especially given that the GR2 34L is almost never in stock and is nearly double the price when it is.
I really hope they make a smaller version of this like 28-30L, seems to have much better features and organisation than the CPL28 for one bag travel
Agreed, would be a great all around bag if it was slightly smaller
They just did a very limited 26l run

What kind of water bladder works well with the Evergoods CTB 35?

Hi Tom, how does this ctb35 compare to the bellroy transit backpack plus 38L in terms of size and carry comfort?
Where can you buy the 28L the website doesn't show it's available anymore?
Seems to be on and off the website at the moment. It was definitely there when I looked last week as a pre-order item but now nothing 🤷♀️
They have CPL28 v2 for pre-order on their site

Tough to decide between this or the 26L, I really want the hip belt, lol.

They just released a mirror version in limited stock for off the left shoulder sling like you’re asking about.
