Beautiful job. A hipster boot guy tried passing his scuffed up rough out as having "awesome patina". Just looked like he took a rasp to his boots. You demonstrated the beauty of roughout, the restoration and the real nature of leather aging.
Good video, I've been looking for more Drews boots videos. I ordered the LTT in brown rough out and cant wait to get them. They'll be my first PNW ( made in USA ) boots. Ive got RedWings and 1000 miles but wanted a beefier boot that I probably wont use to its full potential. Do you have an Instagram with pictures of the two Drews boots? There arent many posts from regular people with Drews boots as a hashtag.
Hi, I don't have an Instagram, but I have several videos on Drew's Boots. I will be doing a 6 month update on them this weekend. Great boots. You won't be disappointed
Just use a 1 inch chip brush. They work best for getting around the tongue and welt. They're super cheap, and easier to use than the cotton ball applicator.
I have a pair of mountaineering/hiking boots made in 1976 (dated inside). I'm debating oiling/waxing the roughout leather. Does the oil attract more dirt? Does the oil make the roughout too soft, especially the toe box? Does the oily shine dissipate quickly? Does the oil transfer to your pants? Your boots look great! Thanks for this video!
@krazmokramer the shine will disapate rather quickly once you start wearing them, and putting your boots to work. One thing to remember is that you don't need a lot of oil to get the boots maintained. The oil will not transfer to your clothing if you let them sit for a day to soak in the oil/ wax. I don't feel that the oil attracts more dirt. Once the boot is dry, one day typically you are good to wear them as normal.
I spoke with Kyle, the owner yesterday. He just got back from Leon Mexico, and he said that the lead times to get caught up should be 3-4 weeks. So you should see them by then. Unfortunately, with a new system comes some setbacks. I believe they addressed those ,and can move forward with quicker lead times. Enjoy them when you receive them. They are great boots.

Tried passing? Not sure what any of the actually meant.
Got enough wind chimes?
Lol, no, never.
Chimes are annoying in our winds. I think tropical only for them. These were big ole long pipes too.
