I’ve always loved Hayley Mills all my life. I used to wish she could have been my sister. She’s my favorite child actress. I always wished I could meet her. ❤

I was obsessed with her: Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, Summer Magic, That Darn Cat, The Moon Spinners... and The Trouble with Angels (not Disney but still one of my favs). Pollyanna is my favorite even though I am now 70 years old. As a youngster and teen, Hayley was my idol. I found out we shared the same birthdate, not year, but month and day. I thought that was the biggest deal. I’ve seen everything she was ever in that I could get my hands on. Not just her Disney work, but those films from the UK. One of the best tv series I’ve seen in forever was Wild at Heart which I don’t think we had here in America. After I heard about it, I searched it on one of the tv cable apps and I ordered the entire season. I’ve watched in twice in 3 years. Would love to have seen her in the theater. God bless you, Hayley Catherine Rose Vivian Mills! You are the best. 💜
I love to have a chat with Hayley she seems like a real sweet person and a great friend peoples would be so honored to have as a friend and Pollyanna is a great movie ❤❤🌈💕

What a wonderful interview! I am close in age to Miss Mills (just wish I had aged as well as she has!) and always felt drawn to her and the movies she appeared in. Also to hear someone talk about Walt Disney who actually worked with him and became friends - amazing. It must have been a wonderful time to work at the studios. Thank you Leonard and Jesse for hosting this. Excellent.
I am also a 'Mills', from the UK, now living in FL, and basically grew up watching Haley. This was a wonderful interview. Interestingly, my friend's father who owned a private bank in London, then called Seaton Trust, loaned Walt Disney the money to get started and believed in his ideas, when Walt could not get funded in the USA. So he went out on a limb to help Walt Disney. And to see Haley in those films, also being a Mills, somehow makes it feel like things went full circle when revisiting the past as this interview does! Thank you so much for sharing.

I actually missed seeing those early Disney films. I first knew her in "Trouble With Angels," which I love. Although not a Disney film and not the subject here, I'd like to know her memories of working with Rosalind Russell.
Sharon here: I loved her back then, and still love her now. We are of an age, and one of the greatest compliments I got was when a neighbor lady told my mother that I reminded her of Hayley Mills. Disney - from Mickey Mouse Club, to Sunday nights, to matinee movies - was my childhood. P.S. I had a friend named Sue - so we played "Susan and Sharon" for many a summer afternoon.
I also was so impressed with Karl Malden on the hill. An important and difficult scene for him. His role and this scene was so important for the story. Brilliant actor.
The funny thing is, in "Pollyana" and "The Parent Trap" she was supposed to be 100% American - yet she had her very noticeable English accent. At the time, for whatever reason, we just ignored that significant discrepancy.
Watched it recently and Jane Wyman’s Aunt Polly does remark that her father was a missionary in the British West Indies so that could be regarded as an explanation for her British accent.
@@ComfortRoadSessions But in "The Parent Trap" there was no explanation of any kind as to why two sisters from Boston and California both had the same English accent.
Bernard Lee was so wonderful. Hayley was so.believable in Whistle Down the Wind. All of the actors were so incredibly good. Bryan Forbes, the director was so deeply loving of the area and the people.
My favorite movies of Hayley's are The Moonspinners and Trouble with Angels..she made up a wrong name to throw the nuns off.. Miss Fleur de Lis.. Such fun for a young teen. And Moonspinners was a scary fun mystery adventure..when the bloody hand came up from a crypt I was probably the loudest screamer in the theater! Oh I loved Summer Magic also and her meeting the dashing owner of the big yellow house in curlers unbeknownst to her.. calling him the yellow peril! Oh and That Darn Cat! I guess it's difficult to pick just one...since these were the movies I grew up with. I do love Pollyanna and The Parent Trap also! (Thanks for the 💗 DisneyD23.. It was removed when I edited out the double "were")
yes, summer magic with yellow peril being PETER BROWN!! i had the worst crush on him growing up too ;) loved all the movies you named above and more. but i loved THE GLAD GAME, POLLYANNA with moochy/kevin corcoran. he was such a cutie pie back then. i've wondered what happened with his life as well. betty gordon, ames, iowa, usa
Ms Mills was a huge part of my childhood. I think she is about 7 years older than I. She was my idol. I so wanted to be her. I would imitate her British accent. I didnt miss any of her movies.

I always smile, be it the Leave It To Beaver cast or here our beloved Hayley Mills making the great exodus from their San Fernando Valley/Burbank studios over to Bob's Big Boy where so much fun is said to have ensued! The best of times!
She made the comment that Disney is incredibly loyal to the people who work for them. That was probably VERY true when Hayley was there, but I wouldn't necessarily say that now. Hint: Mandalorian
All of us who lived in the Haley Mills years also were greatly influenced by the Disney magic. Haley's pictures were all over my walls. She quite frankly took up more space than Ricky Nelson:) We lived in a magical time and am so grateful for Mr. Disney and the wonder he made our world.
we had good, clean entertainment that walt brought us in movies and his sunday night 1 hr. specials!! thank you walt for all those wonderful years of decent shows/movies! betty gordon, ames, iowa
I remember Hayley Mills from her initial big break in Pollyanna. thanks for posting this. so great to see her again .she still looks lovely-- no matter what age he is. The last thing I would say in reference to Hayley is: "white cabbage".
@@iowabettyg it means, ' you're being boring'. She mentions it in this interview as something her dad said to her after her first morning acting on the Pollyanna set.
For me although I saw Pollyana as a little girl, The Parent Trap (original) was the best of Hayley's childhood/teen movies. When she was an adult, well, I adore "The Flame Trees of Thika"!
Tonight you can hear Hayley Mills as the voice of -- yes -- The Little Mermaid in the 1966 Rankin/Bass animated-live action feature The Daydreamer on TCM
Hayley Mills name not listed on starring role of Polyanna on Disney Plus. Some one needs to fix it helps when searching by her name to pull her films with Disney Plus.

So incredibly excited!!!
The Trouble With Angels is loved by everyone (!), but alis, not a Disney movie.
Love Pollyanna. Will always be my favourite movie♥️
Oh my god Hayley mills I watched all her movies I loved 🥰 prolly Anna such a great actress and her sister
Such a sweetie!!
My parents were such big fans they named me after her. I love Hayley's early films!
Ms Mills was a huge part of my childhood. I think she is about 7 years older than I. She was my idol. I so wanted to be her. I would imitate her British accent. I didnt miss any of her movies.
jessie maltin, nice to meet you, I had never heard of you before (like your hair)
I have books by leonard maltin and dvds introduced by him
thanks for doing this, hayley mills is gorgeous (still wrinkles her nose like 60 years ago)
never forget to play the glad game (it helps me a lot)
I love how much of a Lady Hayley is
Ms Mills comes across as just a delight....indeed a delightful chat
I always smile, be it the Leave It To Beaver cast or here our beloved Hayley Mills making the great exodus from their San Fernando Valley/Burbank studios over to Bob's Big Boy where so much fun is said to have ensued! The best of times!
Only recently I saw The Flame trees of Thika and really enjoyed the series.
She made the comment that Disney is incredibly loyal to the people who work for them. That was probably VERY true when Hayley was there, but I wouldn't necessarily say that now. Hint: Mandalorian
I love this woman!
Here in Denmark we loved/still love the picture Parent Trap. Let´s get together. A warm movie. Greetings from Niels in Denmark.
I love Hayley mills 3000
Hi Ms.Maltin..Leonard...and Ms.Mills.
I remember this movie and I've read the book but after reading the book I never watched the movie. But now I can do both.
I remember Hayley Mills from her initial big break in Pollyanna. thanks for posting this. so great to see her again .she still looks lovely-- no matter what age he is. The last thing I would say in reference to Hayley is: "white cabbage".
what does white cabbage mean
@@iowabettyg it means, ' you're being boring'. She mentions it in this interview as something her dad said to her after her first morning acting on the Pollyanna set.
For me although I saw Pollyana as a little girl, The Parent Trap (original) was the best of Hayley's childhood/teen movies. When she was an adult, well, I adore "The Flame Trees of Thika"!
Hayley Mills is my favourite child
Tonight you can hear Hayley Mills as the voice of -- yes -- The Little Mermaid in the 1966 Rankin/Bass animated-live action feature The Daydreamer on TCM
wow thanks for the information
Hayley Mills name not listed on starring role of Polyanna on Disney Plus. Some one needs to fix it helps when searching by her name to pull her films with Disney Plus.
Still every bit the Disney star and legend indeed.
Summer Magic is my favorite.
3 of my favorite movies with hayley mills are in search of the castaways, the parent trap, and the moon spinners. For hayley, Crete is in Greece.
What boy in America at the time of Hayley's movies didn't have a crush on her? I know I did, and I'm 69 years old and I still have a crush on her!!!! Love you Hayley!!! BTW, my kids loved your parent trap movie!!
What about Thomasina? GREAT movie. And her trouble with Angel's series was " Scathingly BRILLIANT!
she's not in thomasina (WONDERFUL MOVIE) the opening song makes me cry every time (having raised and lost many cats)
I like to watch patent trap and pollyanna and the other movies she was in and the first season of saved by the bell .
She played a teacher on saved by the bell.
I really like Haley Mills she is such a good actor.
FYI, Haley Mills was in a Midsomer Murder episode in the early 2013-16 time frame I think or there about. She was excellent and I recognized her right off.
Loved all the classics. Remakes do t cut it. Even movies in the 70s too.
The layered cakes, oh yes! To this day the bazaar cakes on Pollyanna makes me so hungry!
One roll I am delighted she was never casted in was East Enders they gave that to Babs
That's right! John Mills also did a Disney movie: Swiss Family Robinson.
Hayley's sister, Juliet Mills was on the TV show, Nanny and the professor.
♥♥♥ l love. Hally Mills
