It's hard to find lessons and stories in mandarin that are not for a complete beginner but also not too advanced. Your videos fit perfectly in between, where I can understand most of what's being said but can still learn a few new words just from context! Question... When you say you "lived at school" (中学的时候我住在学校里), does it mean on campus, dorm...?
I meant dorm but thought I didn’t need to bring up the word haha!

感谢你分享 :-) 你给我们讲的故事一如既往很有意思，并且非常有帮助。我小的时候也住在农村，我的小学也在我的村子里。我的高中在一个叫伍斯特(Worcester)的小镇, 这不离我家那么远， 坐车不到20分钟。1984年，我是我家里第二个考大学的人 （我大哥是第一个，他也帮助我学习，通过大学的考试）。我上大学时住了在学生宿舍， 但是我住的地方夜离我村子不太远，坐车一个小时就到。我毕业后当翻译，去了伦敦为政府工作。我住在伦敦的时候，有一天我参加了一个非常， 超级无聊苏联政治研讨会，在研讨会时我认识了一个美国的硕士学生， 我们都对这个研讨会感到非常沮丧，所以我问她，她要不要和我去喝一杯咖啡。一年后我们结婚了，35 年现在过去了，我们仍然在一起。我们结婚后搬到美国， 我们住在美国一共21多年， 然后2017年我们决定回英国。我们现在住的地方离我家乡5公里, 可是村子改变了很多。尽管如此，我们的家人都是一样的，我们常常会和他们一起做各种各样的事。我和我老婆珍都感到非常幸运 :-)

I wonder if living far away from home as a high schooler is a reason that it was easier for you to live in a foreign country that is far away from your hometown as an adult.
Yes definitely! I didn’t like anything about my hometown when I was a kid. If you know a movie called “lady bird”, it was very much like my situation haha! I much more prefer Beijing to my hometown. Now I much more prefer Australia.
Damn you lived like most of the time out of your home. i hope it won't affected you in bad way, personally i couldn't take it to live in school among people who i don't know. And i just like very introverted and honestly i dislike people, so if i were you, for me it would be damn hell. i hope you are doing well now, and for you living somewhere else was like the common thing.
actually very good story, i understood like 99% of things, only some new characters. This is fascinating. actually i noticed that some chinese i saw on youtube are live in Australia. So chinese are very many in Australia? if so why are there so many of them?
Haha actually I love living with random people!! One of the skills that I developed is to live with them and make new friends everytime! Unfortunately I don’t miss living home 🤷

Woow, the time to get to your house increased so much it must have been so difficult to be away from your family and just be able to visit them for like 1-2 times per year... I liked the sentence with "越来越" so much! when I first listened to it I was like "what does that mean 😭??" hahaha but after a little time I could find the expresssion on Google lol :) so good that I learned this fun expression! I'll try to use it someday :) thank you for sharing with us your story!! have a good day ❤
