My brain was severely damaged by my first craniotomy when the surgeons were attempting to remove the fibrous dysplasia in the right portion of my skull. Technology in 1981 (age 34) did not reveal more hard tissue directly beneath the fibrous dysplaysia . The drill kept going till it reached brain fluid. They had to save my life rather than remove any fibrous dysplasia. More craniotomies, reconstructions of my eye socket and right temple and petit mal seizures followed. I wish I had known the valuable info from this fantastic video. It would have saved me and everyone around me to be understood. I’m now 75 years old.

Really liked watching this as I had a right temporal lobe tumor removed around 17 years ago now an they were suppose to remove my Hippocampus but the neurologist said to the neurosurgeon DONT TOUCH IT AT ALL, an they argued but at the last minute the machine showed it highlight meaning they seen it working an showed them its still active, so decided to leave it there an just drained a cyst of fluid an removed the tumor an left the hippocampus.... let's just say I don't think I would be where I am today had they not made that huge last minute decision. Blessed an truly very lucky today! Thanks for sharing this as it reminds me where I forever have problems with certain things an this video reminds me it's not my fault :-)

One of the Best video's, it explains thoroughly but in a very straightforward way. Many thanks I am very glad to have found this. I have a brain cyst in my 3rd ventricle which is 1.2cm. It unfortunately caused me to have Hydrocephalus so I had immediate brain surgery to implant a VP Shunt (8yrs ago). After surgery I ended up being diagnosed with Epilepsy and also have Mesial Temporal Lobe Sclerosis. I just spent another week in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit which I have been to before. Awaiting EEG results and someone to have a more thorough look at MRI. I long to feel well again. Blessings to you all

I had a right temporal lobectomy and 75% of the right temporal lobe was removed and all of the right hippocampus. This was done to reduce my
epileptic seizures and it did wonders but since then I will often look at a person but I can't remember their name but they look familar to me. The
hippocampus was removed because it became hard and shrunk from so many yrs. of seizures. I had the surgery done back in 1994.

My step-daughter fell off a golf cart. She hit her head on the concrete and has suffered TBI. She is in ICU, stable but critical condition. We are to the point where they were able to remove the bolt yesterday in order to have an MRI done. What we do know from out of the gate is that the left skull over the temporal lobe is fractured. A subdural hematoma formed on the opposite side. Of course, this is all minute by minute. There has also been diffuse bleeding in her brain subarachnoid in addition to subdural. What can an MRI tell us in terms of recovery?

Hello Doctor this is very interesting. My son has epilepsy and had Right temporal lobectomy Surgery 3 years ago. He has not had a seizure since. He is developing severe anxiety and obsessive thinking. He has not been on any medication for 2 years but we are going to follow up with physiciatrist to calm his brain down from over thinking. He has facial recognition blindness. Is it common to need medication after lobectomy surgery? His was deep into the hypothalamus and amygdala ?

could chronic deja vu and strange delusions indicate a problem with the temporal lobe? for the past year and a half it's felt like I've done everything before, accompanied most of the time by false memories that tend to be pretty strange. It's almost like my inner monologue/thoughts are a runaway train where this crazy "narrative" that I can't control keeps building on itself. difficult to explain.
