Thank you for your service good sir and your story of losing your 119 reminds me of how I lost my 119. Failed sheath due to the snaps wore and went off from years of use. It fell out while I was hiking in the forest and that pretty much was like losing my best friend. Got another 119 among countless other knives to fill that void but at the end of the day the 119 was my knife and I now know to get a new sheath if I encounter a similar issue with the worn out leather around the snaps. Hope you're doing well good sir.

What a great story. My uncle was in Vietnam in 1968 also. He took a Buck 119 with him to
    S. Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He has since past, he gave me that Buck 119 about 35 years ago. I am so honored to have it.

That is one great story brother! I was drafted at about the same time but I lucked out and was sent to Germany. But I had a buck knife also. I did all those things with mine but take it into combat
You guys will have my respect till the day I die. "This we'll defend"

Truly a heartwarming story. Thank you Sir, for serving and thank you to the fantastic Buck company. I love how Buck maintains their God-centered ethic and conveys this in a message in every box. I just bought my 11th Buck knife last night - the classic 119.

This video stands to show that no matter what on TH-cam haters gonna hate, 3 thumbs down seriously to a Vietnam vet losing his knife(The one thing he was adamant about staying with him) and buck stepping up to honor him. Seriously who dislikes a video like that aside from words my parents taught me not to use...

First and foremost thank you sir for your service. I am a patriot, I love my country, I love my freedom, I love my guns and I love my god.
    Dear buck knives.
I had just purchased a buck special 119 about 5 hours ago at my local supermarket and I brought it home and saw the the little peice of paper that talked about the company a bit and talked about its beliefs and values and I got to say that I was very impressed with it and I just want to say that buying that knife was the best investment I ever made and was happy and proud to own an American made knife where quality and christ go hand in hand, I love my knife and you just made me a lifelong customer of buck knives, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
    Thank you and god bless.
    Sincerely
    James B Stanley

I love these Buck 119 Knife stories, I really do. I just bought the 119 Special yesterday at my local Canadian Tire and when I found out Hoyt Buck was a Christian and a Pastor, and the story behind this knife, I just had to go and get one. Hearing Mr. McHugh's story made me want to sleep with my Buck knife under my pillow as well. Keep up the good work and thank you for continuing such a fine legacy of knives. and more 119 knife stories please!!!

I still have my 119 Special with sheath since 1978 that I bought for $20 from the PX at Maxwell AFB! It went through an attempt at re-profiling by my late uncle. He said that it was too hard to sharpen, and needed a flatter profile. This year I got it back to around the same angle as the factory angle, and it’s sharp as blue blazes! Love it!

Growing up in Iowa it seemed everyone's dad had one of these.Back in the early 80's these were still considered very expensive knives. Dad's always had a little concern about us teens touching the Buck special. They were kind of keepsakes that dads often told their sons they will get it later on in life when they were older and could respect nicer things. I guess today I own many very expensive knives but my Buck 119 I still treat like my dad's . With greater care.

Great story, sir. And thank you, like the gentleman said below, for your service to our country. So many Buck stories in my family and so many good memories with people long gone who started me on Bucks years ago. My grandfather carried one every day on the farm. Gave me my first Buck in the 1960's. My father carried one most of his life. And me and my son's have 119's right now. Can a knife, of all things, bring folks together? Yes. Keep up the good work.

What an awesome story. The sentiment behind the knives we carry. My 119 was given to me on my 8th birthday. It was my fathers wedding present from his best man. I can tell you stories behind every wheel gun and knife I own. I even bought a metal detector to find a pocket knife that was lost at a scout camp in the 90's. It was a secondary kept in my grandfathers tackle box from the late 70's until 95.

Great story. I have a Vietnam era vintage Buck General 120 1967 to 1972
Myself , I prefer vintage than the new models . I would have tried to find you a unused vintage 119 and then had the engraving done. Oh well, call me old fashioned 😎

Buck was probably the first knife I heard about after going into the Air Force, and was the first knife I purchased while in service. My grandfather ended up owning it after seeing it and I had to buy another one, but ended up getting a different model with the longer blade since the exchange had sold all they had in stock of that model. I still have that second Buck I purchased and have it at home now, but don't use it like I use to years ago. I want to get another model 110, and the model 119, but want to get the special edition one from the factory if it's available.

My Dad had a Buck 119 in Vietnam also. He sent me one when I was deployed to Iraq after my K Bar broke. Buck is a great Christian patriotic American company we can depend on. Ive since purchased many Buck knives for hunting and skinning deer but my Buck 119 is one of my most prized positions it was really dependable over there. Thank You Buck knives! 🙏
