  • In this classic one-hundred-message series, Dr. Gerstner provides an in-depth overview of systematic theology. He explores what God has clearly revealed in Scripture about Himself, mankind, the fall, redemption, the church, and many other essential doctrines of the Christian faith.

Well Jack! Nice beating around the bush but God ordains whatsoever comes to pass and is not afraid of being the ultimate responsible for everything! Who is sufficient to bring accusation against Him? God can handle evil sinlessly in ways that creature cannot! (And cannot even understand in this point in history.) Check the case of the deceiving of king Ahab!
As we think today the good heart of Lucifer became evil. Yup, the change you talk about! But did it happen out of the freedom of his will? Was it just a bad choice that he made? Or did he follow the course of his nature, having been created good? (This is the hardest question ever!)
Helpless to dodge the bullet and not answering the question from by playing in words with “by”. Either creating evil or allowing evil makes Him the ultimate responsible for evil because He ordained it. Otherwise how could the Lamb’s sacrifice be such a foundational element of the History of Redemption?

Hey bro I do not think he dodged the question at all. This is how I understand it. A good God created man in His image, which primarily means man was made holy as God is holy. Only difference is God is unchanging(same yesterday, today and tomorrow) whereas man is changeable (because man is not God and God could not create men as God -immutability is a big deal). Not only that but holy, changeable man as he was created also has to live in dependence on God. Now when man choose to do the opposite of what God had told him, he forsook that dependence on God and lost his holiness(he changed). And thus evil entered the world.
All this God ‘allowed’ not caused. Man is the cause. But because God is undeniably good, whatever His reasons for allowing evil to enter the world and our lives IS GOOD! God is good, everything He does or allows accomplishes only good for He cannot do evil neither is He tempted by evil. Everything works out for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.
