      There is an Asian secret of washing jeans without fading. It all requires some salt, vinegar and indigo dye. Only a few miners know that because of US introduction of Levi Strauss jeans.

    @swicheroo1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'd avoid washing jeans for a while, if you're buying 300 and up jeans. 6-9 months, if they are on low rotation. The problem is that the salts and minerals leached from your body--combined with the stains--will ultimately cause deterioration of the fiber. My last pair were 500 dollar jeans and I probably could have kept these unwashed for a while longer...but you really need to just realize that you are not doing the fibers any favors over the long term.

  • @modalisk
    @modalisk 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    seriously, don't wash raw pre-6 months. your first wash will considerably affect the fading of your jeans. Once you wash, you basically seal in whatever fades you have been getting so far, and everything after that kind of fades more dully and with much less contrast. Wash too early, and you'll never get the great high-contrast fades that everyone wants

    The 'in' thing nowadays are ripped jeans. The more ripped they look, the better. Personally, I don't like them. I'd like to start with raw denim and see it slowly transform into a faded form over the years. My fave though is the classic Levi's 501. For me, nothing beats that. Quality that never goes out of style.

  • @dpg227
    @dpg227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my opinion, pants are dirty after wearing them for a few days and need to be washed. If your pants can't stand up to frequent washing, you need to find more durable ones or accept the fact that their lifespan will be limited. You could still hand wash and drip dry to minimize damage and save energy.

    My jeans start to get a butt smell after about a week of daily wash. I can't tell if my butt works more than other people or if I'm just more paranoid that others can smell it. I can only detect the smell when I put my face deep into the fabric and sniff. I assume others can't smell this since their noses are like 2 metres away, but I worry about it too much to be able to comfortably sit next to someone in a cinema. Always paranoid they are put off by the smell.

      Because if you really care about your style and what you wear tending to your clothes is just part of it. Also it's statisfying and something to do with your hands which makes it a great thing to do if you have to think. Not even mentioning that dry cleaning might damage textile over time given that it's still a chemical process and natural materials like will react to that.

      BenjerminGaye the above link goes to MrPorter.com which lists: "Jean Shop - Slim-Fit Raw Selvedge Denim Jeans $260 " I only wear western cut Wranglers (#936DEN). I used to wear western cut LEEs, but they've changed their "cut" and don't fit as well, plus nobody carries them around here. Levis never have fit me, PLUS all I ever see are 3/4 worn out Levis for sale! And they're always more expensive than (unwashed)Wranglers which I only buy when I can get them on sale for $25 or less.
      OMG, thinking maybe I missed something I went back to the above web page and clicked on jeans: www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/clothing/jeans The cheapest I saw was $100 (AND 3/4 worn out! as many of them listed are), but most were $300 - 400+, with several well above that -- one pair for $1,735 and another for $1,455!!!!
      As I said before, to each their own

      PastorBruceKramer at 1:11 he shows a pair of raw Levi's. U could probably get it for $45-60 depending on where u live. Mr.Porter link will take you to a site that sells their products. Levi's wouldn't be there.

      Wear less tighter jeans. If you're raw denim, make sure you wash them more often than "once every 6 months." Washing your jeans more often will help remove the grime and sweat trapped inside the denim.

      crotch blowout is inevitable if you have big thigh no matter what type of jeans you wear. Skinny, Slim, Straight, raw, prewash, heavyweight, lightweight, crotch blowout will still occur. My thigh is pretty small for a guy I've been wearing Nudie TLJ for 1.5 year straight for at least 14hours a day in humid asian weather, crotch area is still going strong. Same with my Samurai s710XX no sign of crotch blowout even after a year of constant wear.

      Ylvis Snow sit with legs wide open is not necessarily the reason of crotch blowout. Some guys will still get crotch blowout even when they wear a stretch fabric jeans. Crotch blowout mainly happen because of friction that occur between your thighs.

      If you don't want any fading, dry clean. If you don't mind very slight fading, turn inside out and wash at low temperature. If you want them to shrink a little, dry on the hot cycle. If you want no shrinkage, dry on the coldest cycle you have.

    cold wash on delicate setting ,inside out , the spin will be around 400 and they will weigh a ton when you take them out because they are full of water , hang on rack or similar , straighten out the seems or they will dry with seems you dont want , like a inch from the original seem....... looks crap , after they are dry shake and put away drawer or hanger does not mater , don't iron this would be a waste of your life , time and electricity .
    oh and they are jeans not irreplaceable garments from the 18 hundreds. if you dont wash them you are a mink.
    after a shower i just can't do it. a week or two at most if you only had them on a hour or two each day or not every day .......note : putting dirty clothes back in with clean is a big no no for me , once out they stay out until washed .
    all my jeans cost £100 and more but they are just jeans for wearing , from 20ft you could not tell Hugo boss from primark anyway , you would not see the safety pin holding up the primark numbers after the button fell off first wash .
    on escalator there is nothing worse than the smell of the person in front that cant smell there own ass.
    i have a friend and he still wears Levi 501s from the 70s. he just gets new ones before the old ones are dead .
    washes his jeans afer 1 or 2 times on. get clean . trainspotting jeans are not cool , they were only cool when our mums wouldn't wash then . don't know about you guys but i get spotty legs with dirty jeans , clean spot free ...... i love a r
    rant
    bye nooo

    Lot of inconveniences and discomfort to put up with just to know that you’re wearing selvage denim. It’s like using an old school 35mm film camera to shoot event photography. Is it worth it to you? Where’s your threshold between convenience and craftsmanship?

    I only have I pair of jeans and it happens to be raw denim which I wear every weekend. I put it in a plastic bag then straight to the freezer then air it out for the night out. I convinced myself that I will be able to preserve the shape and color of my jeans turns out I cant see that well and need to wear some glasses.
