As long as officers are paid by taxpayers, their cameras, patrol cars etc should be subject to being monitored at any time by a designated independent agency as long as they are on the clock, except on breaks. Im sure they would uncover a lot more problems, but at the same time would prevent a lot of problems and save lives. Some people only do the right thing if they suspect theyre being watched.

When I was 5 my parents moved us to the "all white" neighborhood Silver Lake in Wilmington. My parents didn't know about the unspoken racist etiquette. My dad was a drummer and hosted Blues Jam Cook Outs at our house on Silver Lake. He was friends with some of the most amazing blues musicians, like Walter 'Lightnin'Bug'Rhodes (Wilson Pickett's band leader). He invited multiple black families to our cookouts. That was my normal. Our neighbors ostracized us, their kids bullied me. My schools curriculum was written by United Daughters of the Confederacy to be sure white kids and black kids believed whites were superior. We were taken to Poplar Grove Plantation where all of the black re-enactors were happy, they behaved as if they worked at Disney. Just driving home the idea that slaves were grateful for security, food, and a roof. No mention of how they were beaten, terrorized, raped, and forced to breed with their own children and siblings like a puppy mill. I was beat up on the bus on the last day of 6th grade for bringing my black friends home on my all white bus back to my all white neighborhood for weekend sleepovers. My mom switched me to Myrtle Grove 7th where our lockers were searched, police and ambulances lined up, & kids talked about "race wars" and "race riots" they were planning at the school every Friday. Attacking the black kids trying to get on their busses. I spoke out against it, Anti-Racist then and never shut up. How about changing the racist name of the area of Wilmington from "Monkey Junction" to something not racist. Changing the name of Hugh McCray Park. The racism there is crazy. A nation wide streamlined curriculum in America is how to stop white supremacy taught in schools. Some states like Florida make up their own State Standardized testing. Investigate what they teach about the Civil War. New books need written to include details about what the United Daughters of Confederacy did, how they wrote public school text books to white wash Civil War history, and built white only parks, erected monuments, and I bet they were involved in sending us to Poplar Grove Plantation for that field trip...why just why?. All of the racist cop videos and Karen videos surfacing are so triggering. I knew the racist kids I went to school with would never change, I hoped they would end up behind bars, instead...cops. Not saying these specific officers were the same ones at Myrtle Grove Middle back then, but their ages line up...I'm 39, so even if I didn't go to the same school as them, I know what the cops were taught in school. When I was 5 my parents moved us to the "all white" neighborhood Silver Lake in Wilmington. My parents didn't know about the unspoken racist etiquette. My dad was a drummer and hosted Blues Jam Cook Outs at our house on Silver Lake. He was friends with some of the most amazing blues musicians, like Walter 'Lightnin'Bug'Rhodes (Wilson Pickett's band leader). He invited multiple black families to our cookouts. That was my normal. Our neighbors ostracized us, their kids bullied me.
My schools curriculum was written by United Daughters of the Confederacy to be sure white kids and black kids believed whites were superior. We were taken to Poplar Grove Plantation where all of the black re-enactors were happy, they behaved as if they worked at Disney. Just driving home the idea that slaves were grateful for security, food, and a roof.
No mention of how they were beaten, terrorized, raped, and forced to breed with their own children and siblings like a puppy mill.
I was beat up on the bus on the last day of 6th grade for bringing my black friends home on my all white bus back to my all white neighborhood for weekend sleepovers.
My mom switched me to Myrtle Grove 7th where our lockers were searched, police and ambulances lined up, & kids talked about "race wars" and "race riots" they were planning at the school every Friday. Attacking the black kids trying to get on their busses.
I spoke out against it, Anti-Racist then and never shut up.
How about changing the racist name of the area of Wilmington from "Monkey Junction" to something not racist. Changing the name of Hugh McCray Park. The racism there is crazy.
A nation wide streamlined curriculum in America is how to stop white supremacy taught in schools. Some states like Florida make up their own State Standardized testing. Investigate what they teach about the Civil War.
New books need written to include details about what the United Daughters of Confederacy did, how they wrote public school text books to white wash Civil War history, and built white only parks, erected monuments, and I bet they were involved in sending us to Poplar Grove Plantation for that field trip...why just why?.

I knew the racist kids I went to school with would never change, I hoped they would end up behind bars, instead...cops. Not saying these specific officers were the same ones at Myrtle Grove Middle back then, but their ages line up...I'm 39, so even if I didn't go to the same school as them, I know what the cops were taught in school.
Gail will surely remember THIS...my parents lived in Dundalk, MD before moving us to Wilmington NC. Oprah & Gail came to our house and bought a puppy from my parents. They saw 'em on the news with the puppy, she'd named 'Pepsi Robinson'.

My dad is half white and black and he was a cop in the 80s and he was racist to black people because he looks more white perhaps and he didn't like his black side or was ashame of it or whatever but he had some prejudices .. He did something against the police dept. Then left to Mexico to avoid persecution.. God bless 🇺🇸 ya

Sorry for the long rant...Why do I need to be reminded EVERY Single day of my life that I’m black? I’ve always done everything right, college educated, wonderful salary, beautiful wife...but I , as so many other black men, have my “ police encounter “ stories. Society still so far to come, and during this great awakening on social injustice, we have a president that is a bigot and promotes divisiveness and white supremacy. I’m so heart broken for my fellow black Americans. Black lives matter, but we have to plead with all levels of society and government to treat us fair. The over policing in black communities and lack of economic growth has destroyed our dreams of what life could be. Some white Americans have become our allies, but we need significantly more to join the movement. Please America, be the people I knew you can become, lean in with us and stop this never ending nightmare of inequality.
