I use olive oil to take off stubborn adhesive on glass jars too. What I do is I would soften the adhesive with my heat gun then pour some olive oil on a steel scrubbing pad and scrub in a circular motion. Afterwards wash it with soap and warm water
After soaking off the paper label, make a paste of bicarbonate of soda and cooking oil , paint on and leave for 10 mins and wash.. it's miraculous...I had to do 200 bottles, so this was a God-send !!
What you just described is essentially soap! You've combined an alkalai and fat. Sometimes that's lye and lard, but it can be baking soda and oil - Generally, I believe it needs to be cooked, but all the same, it works. I only know this because I found it in the" Mr Wizards's Supermarket Science" book and made it with my kids when we were homeschooling.
I'm so happy to see a fellow recyclers. I can't throw away a glass jar or bottle. And that expensive spray on texture is not just expensive, it's also harmful to our world. Cute cute cute! I just decoupage wine bottles with leftover colored tissue paper with my grandkids and my mom who has Advanced dementia, just 2 days ago❤❤❤😊 You got a fan in me for life!
Lots of great creative ways to reuse jars, and I use coconut oil to take off the residue on the jar, put some on the jar let sit a few minutes then use a sponge or a scrubber to remove the residue off.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE working with jars and you gave me ideas. I have painted the inside of them and done some fun things with that. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
for the rest of the sticky residue i usually just rub some dawn directly on it ..leave it for a while and then i use a steal wool to scrub it :) works great .. thanks for your video
I am new to your channel and i absolutely love you ideas in already using what we already have at home. Thank you for sharing your ideas and how to make our own things to use for ones who may not be able to afford the priceier stuff. I cant wait to see maby more videos or your. ❤
I loved the green and Amber the best but I liked them all! I love watching your channel! You have inspired me to try so many things! I have a art studio and every month I hold craft parties and I’ve used many of you ideas for them. You are my go to for easy but beautiful ideas! Thank you!
To remove labels and sticky residue on glass, drop a few drops of Orange essential oil on label, let it sit for a minute, rub it in, and label comes off. Scouring pad could scratch the glass. Goo b gone also works great and is sold at Dollar Tree.
I use eucalyptus essential oil and it's very effective! Same method, a few drops rubbed into the sticky residue after the label is off, and wipes off with a paper towel. For very faint residue, I put a few drops directly onto a small square of paper towel and rub it off.
So the labels adhere to the bottle with the Staples label paper? Not the contact paper. This is such a wonderful technique that I must try as I do save glass jars all the time. Thank you.
I use Goo Gone to remove the residue left when removing labels. For stubborn residue, I leave a wash cloth with a large amount of Goo Gone across the label area for an hour or longer. It works very well.
I try to sort jars n bottles so ones with stubborn labels r used for projects where they can be left intact....plastered over😊 Also I have a tote on my deck with enough water to drown a wine bottle😂 I put them babies in n let 'em soak for days b4 thinking of any scrubbing. ❤ Water is the element of elements❤TYFS❤
I wish the same thing. It helps if we can see all the finished products either at beginning over video or end. I hope she sees this and will do that from now on. Thank you for suggesting.
I love this video! This is brilliant! My favorite is the one with the banana hanger make over. Very clever! Thank you for the recipe on the chalk paint. Can this recipe be used on our left over house exterior paint?
The leapord print dress looks great on you keep it! My local Primark is Chelmsford though colchester bit nearer prefer lChelmsford. You must be in Essex too whereabouts? Sorry about your mum, such a shock for you. You are so right about life being short. My mum never went swimming because of her size but ironically got really small in old age . Keep doing what you are doing xx
Omg I'm obsessed. I want to make everything! I was looking online for DIY Boho rugs and came across one of your videos. You're super talented. I love all the videos, can't wait to make some stuff : )
Your glass upcycles are great, they have given me some inspiration to try it myself 😊 I looked in the description box but I couldn't find the link for your homemade chalk paint 😞
Everything you’ve done it so pretty, neat looking, I love the way you use the jute, I really love the jute, so different, not the the old jars, they all are just great. I’m want to to join with you to get Some of the labels . I’ve tried shopping on Etsy one time, I just didn’t have good luck, maybe I can get some help., Thank you so much for sharing with us, I save almost ever jar, and the big clean cans I paint them. I love your projects and can’t wait to try them. I have to tell you that the clear coat you are using is going to turn a very ugly shade of yellow. I just finished redoing my white kitchen because of this (nightmare). I recommend Minwax poly acrylic instead. Especially if you are selling them!!
Using a water-based sealer, shouldn’t yellow on you if you’re using a oil base sealer yes it will definitely yellow overtime. Thanks for watching. Glad you’re enjoying.
@@OurUpcycledLife in the fine print it says might discolour. Trust me. It took three years but it was definitely a horrible yellow colour! Looks fine at first! For whatever reason the varethane acrylic does discolour. It’s been a nightmare redoing all of my very large kitchen!!!
I just found your channel. Your projects are so nice. I love all you do. What I really like about you is you explain things well can you use things that most people have on hand. Also, recipes for making your own paint, etc. I was wondering why you don't trim more of the paper off before you decoupage? I get closer to text. Does the straight lines/rectangular shape help you place it? I only have one negative thing to say, and maybe you've been told before, but my inner teacher must tell you that you're pronouncing decoupage incorrectly. It is "day" not "dec".
Since Modpodge has a sealer in It, could you use some type of liquid sealant in the homemade one? I wonder if the transfers would work with that? Also, if it works, how cost-efficient would it be?
I’m loving all the creativity in this video, but I’m getting tripped up over the printing on a napkin thing which I don’t have a lot of experience with printers in general other than printing out legal documents lol. So I was looking for the link to the video on how to print on a napkin and that you would link it here and I’m looking around. I’m trying to find it. I’m gonna keep looking, but if anybody has a link to it, I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. What a great video!!
YOU are my diy-er guru! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Can you put air dry clay over a bottle that has a coat of clear wax on it? Can you put air dry clay on top of spray paint?
Goo gone. After soaking and peeling labels off use goo gone and a scotch brite pad, after it’s all gone mix in same pad with dawn or Palmolive and last wash with dish soap only. Its really fast. Goo gone does not bother ur hands .
I am new to your channel... loving this video but ... are all your videos 3 hours long??? Too much for me in one sitting, have to break it up... but loving your projects. My favorite finish after 40 minutes of watching is the jars painted on the inside and baked. Loved the finished look 😊
27:10 ?? Do you ship products? I sell stuff on eBay and use a thermal printer for the shipping/postage label. I buy the “Z” folded labels in 500 at a time. I’d think it’s the same glossy paper. I’m wondering if you’ve tried printing an image with the thermal printer and transfer it with the contact paper. I’m fixing to make Christmas presents and wondered if that method might work. Here looking for ideas that are easy for first timers. Love your videos, ty for sharing!!❤❤

I use a hair dryer... it warms the glue and allows me to get almost all if not all of the glue to come off with the label. Easy peasy.
