  • What do foreigners commonly struggle with in Japan? Have they had any culture shocks? Have they faced discrimination/racism?
    In this video we're going to see what types of dificulties foreigners face when living in Japan. We were able to interview many people from around the globe. The interviewees included of people from: France, America/Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Belgium, Thailand, and Korea (guy from BTS?). There are currently so many international people from Europe, Asia, and USA coming to visit Japan, so let me know if you guys want to see similar content to this!
    Thank you guys so much for the support, it really means a lot!

    Why should we push “ Diversity “ on them when it had clearly failed in the UK and US.

      It is true that closed civilizations, which have limited contact with foreigners, may naturally exhibit a tendency to reject and feel uncomfortable with unfamiliar behaviors. This reaction is a human response and not an inherently malicious or fabricated trait. A similar phenomenon can be observed when comparing tourist cities, which regularly receive visitors from different cultures, to smaller interior cities that rarely encounter foreigners.

    Not in all Europe public transport is late, in Czech it's 99% in time and with small gaps between 😁

    • @SIG442
      @SIG442 ปีที่แล้ว

      Netherlands Public transport is fairly on time as well, busses are often planned in wrong so it does help to ask the driver for help. You can often miss the next bus or train because of this issue if you don't ask. In the most touristy area there is no real problem, but if you visit other areas of the country it could mean waiting 1 hour or sometimes even more. So do ask.
      Also the bus driver is not afraid to help you out with other things regarding your journey if they can.

    • @PenSwordTheFirst
      @PenSwordTheFirst ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not all transportation in Japan is on time either. Sure, the trains in Tokyo are on time, but the buses are often late; and go out into rural areas and the trains and buses are both late all the dang time. They also have a ton of disruptions due to weather events such as typhoons, landslides, etc.

    • @mojabaka
      @mojabaka ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah in Germany it‘s on time too if we talk about local transportation (trams, busses and subways), only trains are mostly late. And trains during Tokyo rush hour are late all the time too. It‘s really annoying when people generalize things like that. Talking about Europe like it‘s a single country also gets on my nerves.

    Hate to break it you you don't have to be a foreigner in a country to experience racism. In fact its most likely to be worse than that of a foreigner, many people feel that racism and violence to those born in their own countries doesn't actually count as racism.

      It‘s not a competition, racism and discrimination is always bad. Whether you‘re a foreigner, black, asian, white, male, female, trans it really doesn‘t matter. All people should be treated with respect. But I do get your point. Btw your point is also valid for Japan, there are Japanese citizens living in Japan who get discriminated because they have foreign origins (mostly Korean or Chinese), or because they‘re poor, or because they have a disability. It‘s a big problem in Japan and almost nobody wants to talk about it unfortunately.

    Can someone please read me in detail? can i have your attention? i have been asking myself these questions for years. i really like japan in its landscapes, products and aesthetics, but i have a deep aversion and disgust for its people, because i have not learned anything good about their culture. it seems like cowardice and hypocrisy with their "tatemae". it is more excessive than in other countries. they think they can avoid conflicts this way but not with people like me ,i am not fooled.
    how can i respect their culture if they are all like that? How can i trust them and hear their honesty? don't ask me to learn fluently their language for years, it is too demanding and difficult. what are the chances of meeting japanese people ready to show their honesty and emotions , very slim of course? until i have answers, i will remain racist until the end of my days. I'm sick of these people who say that we should learn Japanese, just because they are smiling, polite and force themselves to help people they don't know.

    I wouldn't call it racism, but rather a healthy and justified distrust of strangers and their appearance and behavior. The mere fact that 6,635 crimes were committed by the American occupying forces alone. Including the most serious crimes such as murder and rape, the youngest victim was a fourteen-year-old girl who was brutally raped by 4 American soldiers and died as a result. There is hardly any prosecution. If you look at some videos from Japan and see how some foreign tourists behave and the damage they sometimes cause, I admire the Japanese patience to endure this. You should always keep in mind that you are just a guest in this country. As soon as I enter this country, I automatically submit to the laws and rules and, especially in Japan, have to exercise absolute restraint. That without any ifs or buts. It would perhaps be appropriate for the Japanese government and the tourism industry in Japan to fundamentally rethink and revise their concept. It would also be appropriate to drastically increase and expand the penalties for tourists who misbehave. High prison sentences, high fines and expulsion should be reconsidered. One should also keep in mind that Japan is an almost closed society, sometimes with rules and rites that seem foreign to us. What we may perceive as racism is a completely normal reaction from the Japanese. Look at the chaos in the USA and Europe, maybe the Japanese don't want it to end like this?! An example from Germany, here it can happen if you publicly say that you are proud to be German and fly the German flag and claim and prove that there are only two genders, all hell breaks loose and there is a risk of criminal consequences. Anyone who knows Berlin and has to see how tourists move and behave almost every day may understand the Japanese, who certainly don't want to have such conditions.

      Racism definitely exists, but you are kinda on to something. There was a case where a foreign comedian (forgot the name, too lazy to google) went to the fish market in Tokyo and tried to enter a toilet. A worker stopped him and told him that the toilet was for „Japanese only“, but after a few seconds he recognized his face and literally told him „ah you‘re famous, so you can enter“. What‘s even worse is that the foreign celebrity later went to twitter and apologized for causing „confusion“.
      And to further develop your point, it was always funny to me how Japanese people love to listen to foreign songs, watch foreign movies, use English in a lot of marketing materials and use a lot of foreign products, but mostly treat foreigners like second class citizens once they arrive in Japan. Sometimes I don‘t know which is worse, the actual racism, or the hypocrisy. But yeah, I think a lot of it is classism too. Japanese people from poor backgrounds often get discriminated too.

    People seem to go to Japan without the knowledge of the word xenophobia or term identity crisis then think "it will be okay". The saddest is when I see USA people go there then get ignored or chased out of stores wondering what happened when their own country's century long stretch of racism towards skin color and past is a massive indicator.

    • @lorblauh
      @lorblauh ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably because that racist behavior is in the past and is no longer acceptable and none of the "USA people" you're talking about have ever experienced or committed racist acts of exclusion. Also those sane people have been brainwashed into thinking America is the worst most racist place ever. So OBVIOUSLY other more civilized countries would be better and wouldn't dio such things. It's always funny how foreign people criticize the US and have no idea how Americans actually think. You've seen movies, TV shows and TH-cam, you don't actually know what the situation is like on the ground here.
