Dang Cody, you have me reaching for an extra blanket here on my couch as you show those snowbanks with that wind blowing! Miss seeing Argo, but glad he's nice and warm. What a gorgeous view of the Wilfred Sykes as she passes you. I love all of these freighters, but the Old School Lakers are my favorites, especially the Anderson. Thanks for the video Cody and give Argo a good snack for me!

I do agree, I think these old school lakers are my favorite, they just have such nice lines and designs. Plus there is something about a ship that has been sailing these waters for so many decades. It's a character that I can't really put my finger on.
Argo did get a treat as always. He gets a treat after our walks and a treat if I leave him behind.. he just gets treats. Lucky dog! :)

Thanks for providing the opportunity to watch ships during winter maintenance. BTW, Sykes is my special favorite. You are the best Cody.

I agree, the Sykes certainly is a special ship! I was glad to be able to put eyes on her so many times, even if it was always at night! :)

I grew up in northeastern wisconsin and remember going out in below 0 degrees F. It was wonderful even after dark to get out to feel the wind and cold outside.
There is nothing like the quiet of the very cold winter. There are no birds only the wind. The birds know better and have flown south hundreds and thousand of miles
south to warmer winter far to the south.
It does feel great to come into a warmer home taking off our heavy winter jacket with a hood, a heavy wool hat, gloves and winter boots.

I came from Oregon and while we rarely had to deal with sustained low temperatures, I do certainly understand the joy of coming inside from the cold. It is amazing how HOT it feels inside when you first walk in.

Thanks for braving the weather Cody😊. I do believe the, Sykes, and the two, Ryerson's are the best looking Boats on the Lakes😊. They have almost a, Portuguese bridge on em and the styling is dope❤!

Sadly I never was able to see the Ryerson's sail but looking at pictures, I would agree that those three make a great looking trio of ships!

You are most welcome. I've gotten a decent clothing system so I don't freeze anywhere but the face. It's hard to talk with the nose and mouth covered, so they suffer a bit :)

I like your night videos.I once applied for a job at South Pole station. The interviewer said "You appear to have all of the skills we're looking for. But do you understand just how cold it gets in Antarctica?" I replied, "No ma'am. The closest I've ever been to that cold is going to college in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan." She said, "OK. Let's just finish up this paperwork and I'll introduce you to our tech guy."

ha, that seems about right :). I saw a post last week, when it was so cold, that it was colder in Wyoming than it was in Antarctica... that is brisk!

Thanks for being a good pet parent and for keeping Argo out of the bitter wind. I'm sure that if you show him the scenes of blowing snow, he'll accept your apology.

I know that he won't say no so I have to be the voice of reason, which is scary! lol. Hmm, I just realized that he gets a treat after our walks but also a treat if I leave him behind out of guilt. He has it good! :)

Hey there, great video! That's me standing at the rail there on the port side, I'm sorry that I didn't wave back. I'll be looking for you in the future, I certainly remember seeing you down there on that snow bank. Have a good one!

No worries Matt! I think I actually got a picture of you on the Bosuns chair below the lock on the trip before this. It is always a great day when the Wilfred Sykes comes to town!

@@codyandargo906 if you had posted the picture on the Bosun's chair, or video, I think that I saved that one and had it printed for my photo album. It's great that you guys take pictures and video, it gives me some shots that would otherwise be left to me trying to describe to people, and you know a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'd like the wind to give ME a push once in a while! Couching today...watching the Crumbley trial today and watching the snow disappear.

Sykes and Joe Block have the best colours on the Lakes. It would be nice if their owners would get the Edward L Ryerson out of its 15-year lay-up and expand the fleet to three ships. Probably wishful thinking. You're pronouncing Kaministiqua perfectly. 👍🍁

    • @codyandargo906
      @codyandargo906  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've seen pictures of the Ryerson, obviously never seen her in person. She would make a sharp looking addition to the fleet. Can we start a petition? :)

@codyandargo906 There are a whole lot of us out here that would love to see that happen. One of the biggest obstacles is that she doesn't have a self- unloading system. Big expense, but it would be sweet to see 'Fast Eddie' working the Lakes again.
