I actually have this! It is called Stevens-Johnson syndrome! I found out about I when I took ONE amoxicillin pill and felt... off. Like I felt my throat close up or something odd. I didn't take any more of it and not long after I developed what look like *sunburns* around the thinner parts of my body. I had so many layers of skin slough off me. I had a minor case but that was from One pill. And it lasted for WEEKS. Uncomfortable burning sensations in sensitive areas and the feeling of skin constantly coming off... ugh it was horrible.

SJS and what's in the show (TENS) are different conditions.
TENS involves at least 30% skin detachment, and is fatal in nearly 30-50% of cases.

@@bluedragon2049I think that it's worth mentioning that there is indeed such a thing as a flesh eating disease, but the flesh eating disease in cabin fever is a virus and the real life flesh eating disease is a bacteria known as necrotizing fasciitis more commonly known as flesh eating bacteria. There's also a terrifying type of disease known as a viral hemorrhagic fever, the most notorious and deadly of which is Ebola virus disease, a rare but deadly virus found only in sub Saharan Africa which is capable of causing a high fever, shock, multiple organ failure and severe uncontrollable internal and external bleeding. The fatality rate of flesh eating bacteria is approximately 30 to 50%. The fatality rate of Ebola is an average of 50% in patients who seek immediate medical attention, but in patients who don't seek immediate medical attention if they are infected with Ebola the fatality rate is between 70% to 90%. Worst case scenario of Ebola is that it can kill up to 90% of people who are infected with it or a fatality rate of 9 out of every 10 people who are infected. It's worth noting that there are four to five different strains of the Ebola virus, each strain has a different fatality rate. The most lethal strain of Ebola is Ebola Zaire with a fatality rate of up to 90%. There's also the Ebola Reston strain of Ebola, which is the only strain of Ebola that is confirmed as being harmless to humans and only lethal to non human primates like monkeys and chimpanzees but is not harmful to humans.

It's incredibly rare, yet equally gruesome, and the symptoms shown here lined up with what I learned about it.

The whole reason I had shots of Bactrim in the first place was bc I had an allergic reaction to Zoloft. So they gave me some shots in my booty and then my skin started falling off because I was highly allergic to the Bactrim also. So it may have been way worse bc it was 2 reactions at once. My dad said my lips peeled off on his shirt while he was holding me. I went comatose by Good Friday and the doctors said I wouldn't live to see Easter. I am told the preacher from my parents' church even came in. Easter Sunday came and I woke up wanting an Easter egg. I was completely fine and no one could explain how. I had TENS when I was six. They told my parents that I was going to die but by some miracle I made it through with relatively minor consequences. No amputation but scar tissue has cause a lot of issues. Pictures are pretty horrific. Ironically it was the Internet that saved my life. My doctor prescribed me a concoction of a few antibiotics and increased the dosage when I complained that my ear infection was getting worse. My uncle was in med school at the time and he and my aunt were searching my symptoms. When they read about sjs they told my mom to take me to the hospital immediately. I was in the burn unit for weeks bandaged up like a mummy and have been told that I screamed every time the bandages had to be changed because my skin came off with them. Honestly I'm glad that my brain blocked it all out. I do wish that I remembered the nurses and people who showed kindness to me though. Apparently one of the nurses would bring me toys to entertain me while I was stuck in bed but almost all memories from that time period are seemingly blocked. Sometimes random memories will pop back through though an ill remember random details like room layouts and smells/tastes or remembering how scared I was to have someone see me when I had to share a room.
