Watching this. I am 65 and amazed at your distances - 43 k in a day. A marathon! Tell me about rainy days - how did you keep your mood up in the rain. And wet feet? No blisters!?

@@petercassidy4219 thank you . I’m from thePacific northwest , WA, USA. if you waited for good weather to hike, you wouldn’t be hiking too much so I was used to the rain. With trail runners your feet always get wet and when I got to the places for the night, I would pack them with newspapers to kind of dry them out and then start off with the dry socks as well in the following morning. Also, I completed the Pacific crest Trail, which goes from Mexico to Canada in 2008 about the same age you are now and there you had to sleep in the rain as well as hiking it and the occasional snow followed by blistering hot days in the desert, so this hike was a piece of cake by comparison also frequently in the PCT you would hike up 4000 feet and back down 4000 feet for several days in a row. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. As far as blisters, I got two on my outer toes and I just popped them and they became calluses for the rest of the journey.. I got the blisters because I had only worn one pair of socks over the Pyrenees, which was a big mistake.

What time of year did you travel to experience such wet weather and colder temperatures?

@@tanyafindlay609 I traveled from April 22 to May 20, 2024. I ended up buying a poncho in Roncesvalles Albergue because it was snowing and I realized my jacket was not waterproof but water resistant. If I were to travel the same time, I would add a down parka to my backpack.
