The missile fired from pylon number 3 at 10:20 is the r-27T /ET which is an infrared-homing missile with no way possible way for the F-4 rwr to detect.
Shouldn't he push as hard as he can before he launches a Fox3? I mean he should have no fear of an AIM -7, so getting into No-Escape for his Fox3s should just be a factor of radar tracking and pursuit.
Thanks for the wonderful video! It's nice to see that sometimes when avionics aren't up to the task that the Mark 1: Eyeball still has it. That being said... I hate the Phantom. I had to work on them during my time in the Navy and they're the most messed up garbage platforms to work on. I was so happy to get transferred to the S-3's and much later the F/A-18's (Super Hornets). S-3's were awful to work on, but at least there was enough space you could squeeze your hands in.

Great one... Yea, totally and "supremely outmatched"... looks like the R-27EA Missile may fly a little slower but therefore a fair bit longer than the R77? Dunno how that can make sense? Perhaps less thrust but longer burn time? I'm no expert, but It definitely felt like the R-27 was able to "hang around" for longer than one would anticipate, only to find you, once you turned around into the bandit and inadvertently into the missile as well.
My dad told me in the F-4 when they would dog fight; to clean up the smoke they would put one engine idle and one engine in burner. Smoke goes away and speed isn’t too high at the merge. Try it.
Try this: When the Hawks first engaged and sent him cold and you were pushing, start rippling off F1s in intervals to keep him defensive and cold. I'm pretty sure the F-4 is faster on the deck than the Flanker and you could continue to close the gap for a rear aspect F2.
So just a curious question GS. I know you were working to get into IR range, but at the point where you had him off the nose defending the SAM's, would not that have been a perfect opportunity to light him up with the radar and take a crack with a sparrow? Might have been a low percentage shot, but it would have kept him busy longer

Why was there no RWR warning from the missile being pitbull and pulling into you? Was it falling top down into RWR blind spot? Also does the flanker in DCS get the ETs?
