Had Jim Caldwell not been on TNN doing "Top Card," he very well might have been the leading candidate to host this remake. But then again, Wink was available too.

I LOVE this version, it's a childhood memory watching this everyday before press your luck in the mid 90's. Plus I prefer this theme song over the original.

13:19 The only thing I didn't like about this version is when they erased the pot!

For the most part it did. However, the great thing about this show is the lock-out for stopping the shuffling of the categories since it is the player that should determine that fate and not by a random computer stopping the categories.

***** It's all a game of chance, even during the Wink Martindale era, nobody ever knew where the dragon was.

I wonder what Jack would've thought about this version of his hit TTD would've reacted.

I do seem to remember that happening at least once. Unless my memory is completely shot, the game continued with a reminder that the player did need to find the Dragon Slayer in order to win. (That is, after all, one major reason why the Slayer was there, to provide an "out" if the player chose the wrong symbol at the outset.)

Hey If any 1 has any more Tic Tac Dough 1990 videos let me know I'm big fan of this version of it.

The good news is this version resembled its well-known format. The reason it wasn't successful because the format was watered down and the host was not at his best. Although The Joker's Wild did keep the slot machine in their revival, their version was not exactly the same as the well-known format.

I'm just glad the dragon and dragon slayer didn't rap in this episode.

I HATED this version of TTD. I remember my mom would have the TV on when this would come on late at night. When the dragon showed up, I ran into my room. Keep in mind I was around seven when this aired.

I've often thought this: TTD '90 was a decent format (for the most part, very true to the classic series) with a *horrific* host. Its counterpart, The Joker's Wild, had a 1990 version that was mediocre at best, but featured a perfectly fine host in Pat Finn. Suppose for a moment you switched the two hosts around, with Wayne on TJW and Finn on TTD... would it have made a difference? I think TTD would've been vastly improved and TJW... well, I just don't know.

Not a big fan of this version, the host was nowhere neat the caliber of the Winkster.
