Looks like a long hard day! Great to see some laughs along the way! Great job done by all. Dividing an area is what we are looking at doing to pasture our poultry also. They definitely are good at tearing a yard apart. Much love to you all.
Glad to see another video. I laughed at the daily Easter egg hunt. That could be fun. We also have chickens and I understand the mess they make. Mulch every where …. We’re also finding piles of eggs outside the coop.
those chickens are good at their job LOL. They will scratch and turn over everything. We have never hated (and thats a strong word) than when they get in our freshly planted garden. We didn't want to go to heavy in the garden before we figured out the chickens. Now we can work on the garden without having to worry about our lovely chickens getting in their and ruining our relationship.
@@4KidsandaFarm Thanks!! I couldn’t remember your name, but I kept praying for you guys when I hear anything for weather happening in your area! I’m so glad you weren’t ruined totally! But this morning I woke up and just said out loud, “Four Kids and a Farm!!” !!! I’ll be watching you guys now!!! Have a Super Weekend, all 6 of you!!!! ♥️♥️
We had a similar dilemma. We would free-range our chickens. Most went out to the field but a few stayed around the coop and rabbit area. One night, a bad rooster started calling the hens away from the coop and managed to get several hens and all but one rooster to stay out in the field, in a bush where I couldn’t get to them. Over a period of a week some of the hens and all but the worst rooster were taken by predators. Now we used a yard similar to yours, although a couple of hens regularly escape to forage. We recently added a second yard for them. We are letting the original yard recover and we will be planting shade and food plants for them in a few months. Once they plants are established, I will move them back to the original yard. Our hopes are to eventually have several flocks that can patrol most areas of the property, each with multiple yards. We wish you the best in your arrangement.
Thanks so much, we are okay so far. Lots of rain and wind makes for some sleepless nights...but everything survived even though we are a little more soggy.
We had to have our chickens fenced in too and I felt bad for them so I gathered grass/weed clippings to give them and sometimes caught crickets or grasshoppers for them too. They also got healthy table scraps.
We are having the same problem! I feel the sadness of containing them in one spot, but I’m so tired of constantly running out to grab them out of my garden beds, or finding one in the front yard, or walking on top of our tall block wall lol. But that looks like you’ve given them plenty of space and I’m sure they’ll be just fine. We’re planning on moving our compost piles over into the extended chicken run area so it’s still plenty for them to forage in.
Make a wood frame. Put chicken wire on one side. Plant wheat or what you want then lay the frame on top so the greens grow through it as nd the chickens can eat the green without destroying the roots below. We had the same issue so had to make changes.
I get it guys I too love my chickens and let them free range the homestead but like you said they get into EVERYTHING my gardens which we put fence up around the gardens and steeping in chicken poo all the time all over I hate having people over and they step in it so I do have the same black Cochin lady as you got her from Murray McMurray’s but I think mine will be fenced in soon too😌
Awesome video. My son's name is Dewey so he always says you do you & I'll Dewey lololol. Love you guys, God bless
Never a dull moment. Great job folks. Thanks. Hope your all doing good. Chris from England.

It’s good to see the kids helping and learning at the same time.
They were really good helpers!

I was worried about you and your family with all the flooding and snow in Northern California. God bless💖

@@4KidsandaFarm thank goodness for that💕
Nice job everyone 👏 👍 ❤️🙋♂️
Thank you! Cheers!

WE were thinking of starting a fodder system for them for this same reason.

Did your bees survive the winter?
How much does the seeds of a single sunflower head weigh?

You should see Rachel work the pressure washer on our sidewalks...probably number one pet peeve is bird poop on the patio.
you could use chicken tunnels...then you could have them only on areas
that you want them on
we have been thinking about this for the garden. Great Idea Ronald!
Do you have problems with coyotes, raccoons ,etc. preying on chickens?
Foxes and Raccoons...and maybe a skunk. Our LGD lilly does a pretty good job of preventing them from being on our property though.
