Did this man call Yamaha's powerhouse a "traditional" inline four? No where near traditional.. traditional design fires 2 out of the 4 pistons together whilst the other 2 rely on this power stroke to release the exhaust gasses etc etc.. Yamaha use what's called a cross-plane crankshaft (notoriously known as the Big Bang Engine) which fires each individual cylinder individually at different degrees thus giving 4 "power deliveries" to the back wheel in a single rotation instead of 2. This gives you better traction in corners cause there's less gaps where there's no power to the wheel. But not that just, the best it produces is it's unique sound. Low rpm sounds like a v4, higher rpm sounds like an inline 4 screamer
I have 2021 MT-09 with 3-cylinder cross-plane engine which many like the sound & like power it provides. Yes, it has some vibration but I get used to it.
@frankchan4272 Yamaha call the CP3 a crossplane like its something special like its 4 cylinder cousin... but its really just a marketing ploy as all 3 cylinder engines out there are crossplane. It is a fantastic engine though.. I have the 23 gen3 MT09 SP.
You have mixed them up completely. Cross plane has a big pause in the middle to take back a bit of traction, flat plane fires evenly. Flat plane usually has a higher redline, cross plane more torque.

I haven't watched MotoGP in a few years. I was surprised to learn Honda and Yamaha are the least competitive teams. It's the total opposite to a decade ago when Honda and Yamaha dominated and the other manufacturers could barely build a bike.
I took about 2 decades off from watching but got hooked again immediately. These guys really let it hang out and battle. I never expected so much bumping and sliding off the bikes pretty much each race. Be nice if the brand was displayed next to the rider's name again because i don't know any of them and would just root for Honda or Ducati.
I just recently began watching MotoGP and I'm 56. Hey, it's never too late. What is important about Motogp in the last 7 years is a standard ECU and standard tire that all teams use. Before this the costs were so high since some teams had pockets to develop a better ECU. Poor teams had inferior ECU that could not compete. Also there were two tire manufacturers so if you were sponsored by Bridgestone you were stuck all year, where another team chose Michelin. This also made for bad racing if you chose the wrong tire sponsor your were stuck with a inferior tire all season.
