Absolutely brilliant Sir.👍 Allegedly, according to Wikipedia, (that fountain of truth), it was originally done entirely using a Roland Juno 60 synth and Linn Drum. The Linn drum I can believe...but my Juno 60 never sounded anything like this😀Or was it just down to expensive studio effects and multi-tracking in 1984. Any thoughts? 👍 2.7K views folks and only 99 likes? c'mon folks.👍
Thanks Richard. It means a lot to read comments like that. As to whether I think the original was done with just a Juno 60.... I'd be surprised and impressed if it was. I think there's a Yamaha DX7 in there too. But it is quite a simple arrangement.
FANTASTIC JULIAN!!!!!!!! An unmissable classic in the Christmas period... you really did a SUPER job on this!!!! I LOVE IT :) :) :) I wish you a very happy Christmas full of satisfaction and lots of music, my dear friend!!!!
So good to see you here Kos, and I wish you the same. I hope we'll see more from you in 2022, although looking at the viewing numbers here I'm starting to think it might not be worth it anymore. Anyway its always great when you check in so thank you 🤛
@@juliancroot What I can say is that you deserve many more views and subscribers given the quality of your works and I understand your thoughts perfectly... I too, about two years ago I was about to stop doing my tributes, because my videos seemed to interest only a few people, but then I thought about it and decided to follow my passion anyway (thanks also to the support of those who believed in what I was doing). This obviously is a very personal choice and each of us has to follow what he feels like doing, but I hope to see even more of your fantastic recreations in the future!! I send you a big hug, my dear friend :) :) :)
Thanks. Yeah it is, although there is a fair bit of EQ and processing on it too. I spend quite a bit of time manipulating presets and blending them together to get the sound I want. In this case I used a few 808 samples, re-pitched them, EQ'd them, did a bit of dynamic shaping, compression etc. But the starting point was the 808 kit in Battery 4.
Bravo ! (from France).
Thank you

I released a vocal version last year but took it down because frankly... It was awful! Never to be heard again. 👍
Nicely done! Is that really an 808 snare? doesn't sound like it to me
