Sun Wukong (Traditional Chinese: 孫悟空; Simplified Chinese: 孙悟空; Pinyin: Sūn Wùkōng; Wade-Giles: Sun Wu-k'ung), also known as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven (齊天大聖) or simply Wukong (悟空), as well as by other names such as (孫行者),(者行孫), (行者孫), and (齊天), is one of the Seven Great Sages and a principal character in the 16th-century novel Journey to the West. He is one of the most famous fictional characters in Chinese literature. Sun Wukong is a sage, monk, and warrior with the appearance of a monkey, inspired by folklore from the Tang dynasty. In the novel, Sun Wukong is born from a stone and, through training under a Taoist master, attains supernatural magical powers. After rebelling in Heaven and being imprisoned by the Buddha under a mountain, he is eventually freed and accompanies Tang Sanzang, a monk from the Tang dynasty, on a journey to retrieve sacred scriptures from the Western Heaven (a reference to India at the time).
The Japanese comic 7 Dragon Ball is adapted from Journey to the West, one of the four famous Chinese novels. The cloud that Wukong rides on is also described in the original novel.
To explain general story:. It follows a monk name Tang SanZang who goes on a Journey to the West (India) for the Sacred Buddha's Scriptures. Sun Wukung, who was born from a rock (space rock?) since the beginning of time by adsorbing the Heaven and Earth's Chi and Spirit. He founded a monkey kingdom and realised that he and his people could die of old age. He went on a journey to learn mystical arts (magic) and to become a deity and gain immortality. Long story short, he got into conflict with the heaven and made a mess due to his arrogance and untamed behaviour, no one could stop him until Buddha appeared and sealed him up for his crime for 500 years using a mountain + Seal. (5 Finger Mountain) The story begins when the monk's destiny is to find Wukung and set him free, however he must become the monk's disciple and follow him on a journey to the west by foot. During the journey, they have to overcome 81 difficulties of life and death, fighting evil demons and testing their faith and comradery
Dude the Chinese are going to revive the gaming industry, have you seen their upcoming games? It is a blessing to have the Chinese coming into AAA games. Not only that but I grew up around kunfu movie and when ever there is nothing to watch like (super hero or Marvel and DC) I would go back to Chinese fantasy drama. Have you seen I AM NOBODY? Chinese drama... Holy shit it is fire! Or what about Ever Night and Legend of Chusen?
"Sun Goku" is the Japanese pronunciation for "Sun Wukong". Animes or comics that contains a Japanese word "saiyuki" is the pronunciation for "xiyouji". In English, "jttw".
Based on what was said in the game by wukong, erlang and the old monkey, this happens after Journey to the West which had him trapped under the mountain for 500 years

this game, sun wu kong or journey to the west is not like dragon ball, but dragon ball (some examples are sungoku himself and some other characters), one piece (some examples are luffy's gear mode and the ability to zoom in and out, rubbery body) and naruto (some examples are the fox spirit legend and the clone technique) and many other mangaka have borrowed ideas based on the novel journey to the west, which is a very old novel and is almost the inspiration for the ideas of previous mangaka. by the way, the fox spirit legend originated from china, but the koreans blatantly stole it and tried to change the thinking of all westerners that the fox story is korean. so brazen and shameless
0:44 "Yo, tell me that's not Dragonball Z" No, it's not. Dragonball is a Japanese manga/anime that's based very very loosely on the original Chinese mythical character. The "goku" you know is but a very shallow analogue of the original complex character that is Wukong.

Dragon Ball Z and plenty other anime was essentially inspired by Journey to the West and Wukong.

Dragon Ball was inspired from WuKong and WuKong is from a Chinese Literature "西遊記Journey to the West" back in 16th Century
