  • This Anubias Nana and Bucephalandra Godzilla propagation setup is inspired by the riverine habitat that they originate from. Anubias and Bucephalandra emersed propagation is an efficient way to propagate more plants for you to use in your own planted aquarium. Saving you lots of money. Use the tips in this video to grow plants easily and quickly!
    I sell the plants that I grow! I also sell the fertilizer featured in this video. All sales help to support this channel 🌱 nwaquahobby.com

      Yes I am! I am working on a few species of Crypts. Both Buce and Crypts will unfortunately take me quite awhile to propagate out, but they are in the works!

    Nice setup how often do you change water and how many times you dose ferts in there

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just set it up so I am still working out the fert and water change schedule. My plan is to change water every week or two and to follow the instructions on the bottle for dosing with medium light. 👍

      Don’t use livestock with hydroponic ferts. If you want to do that stick with planted aquarium ferts and dose them as recommended.

    Have you considred ussing pest snails as a fert? I had an infestation on my last tank and those plants THRIVED. Could be fed veggie scraps or fish food

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would work on a small scale to an extent! Would be difficult to keep the balance of ferts in check though. I also sell my plants so I do everything I can to keep snails out of my setups. Could make for a fun experiment however! 🐌

    How many hours do you leave the light on in this new configuration?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting! This setup receives 12 hours of indirect light per day from my rack that is setup adjacent, and 4 hours of very low intensity direct LED light from the light above the plants. The lighting regimen will likely change. I am starting with minimal direct light and will work that up in time. I am trying to avoid algae issues so taking it slow. 👍

    Lowering the water level is kinda brilliant ,
    I think you should drop the idea of using prebuild tanks
    Try making the tanks yourself cause it's cheap (at least where I live )
    I believe the plants doesn't need tall tanks
    Better use of space i guess

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right!? Most people could lower their water level to turn their tanks into a riparium/paludarium pretty easily.
      Most of my Anubias, buce, and Java ferns are grown in my large shallow hydroponic grow tubs. This is more of a “show” tank for video purposes because they are easier to shoot and look pleasing to the eye 😊. I’m planning on a few more aquariums for that reason but mainly growing in the hydroponic setups.

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had a lot of luck growing Cryotocorynes emersed, tried it in a soil setup with little success. I would suspect that a setup like this would be your best bet. Ill try to experiment with some soon :)

    Do you have to worry about losing moisture or does it not have to be airtight?
    I'd like to try this myself but don't have any tight fitting lids!

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you have a lid with most visible air gaps closed up then you should be good. The glass walls and lid are usually covered in condensation and that is the goal. I dry off the front panel when I shoot videos of the setup.

    • @AquariumPlantLab

      The brand is hydroton. Generic name is Leca. I recommend the hydroton brand because it sinks in my experience. Others have reported the generic brands to float. 👍

      Very well! Nearly all Anubias is grown in a very similar way at large scale farms. This video goes into more detail on the subject 👍: th-cam.com/video/PpwsTt8u08M/w-d-xo.html

    Garrett - Plants Perfected again - Setup looks amazing! You have some magic when it comes to Anubias it looks like.
    I recently got contacted by an overseas farm that does a lot of anubias. Not really my thing, but I think you might be interested.
    They have some very rare varieties like dragon leaf, panda, chili, and black. Much more expensive than other Anubias variety but that might be ideal for your target market, especially considering that you're actually farming.
    In addition, if you would like a large amount of buce at a really good price feel free to contact. I'm not sure if buce is going to be a big part of your business in the future, but if it is, I'm your man.
    Keep up the great work!

    Have you given up on growing anubias immersed based on the results of the aquarium where you dropped the water level?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I just enjoy lowering the water level in my personal aquarium from time to time 😃. Makes for an easy way to change up the look. There are a number of other Anubias plants in that tank that are fully submersed too. Just hidden by the duckweed. I’ll probably get bored with the look and fill it back up again in a few months 😂. However, when it comes to propagation for my business I do focus on almost entirely emersed growth. 👍
