"From the Courage Of Combatants, From the Blood Of the Slaughter, From the Suffering Of the Bereaved, From the Sacrificial Deeds Of the People, Spirit Fruit Will Grow, Will Guide Souls Towards Awareness Of the Spirit, To Find Their Purpose In the Spirit Realm."
Rudolf Steiner, taken from "The Lies Of Modern Man" Lecture, Rudolf Steiner Press YT.
Dr. Steiners resurgence lately has been incredible to watch. His work imo, is even more relevant in modernity, then perhaps even his own era.
I feel a special affinity for the heart of this man and a I feel a strong mysterious familiarity with him, almost as if I knew him prior to discovering his work (I am not a New Age wacko lol). It is the strangest thing, nothing surprises me anymore, except the fact that today, people can have a rigid Atheistic world view and harbor a Materialist ideology, during this era, the time of the Great Unveiling. From my observations, the 1920's Spiritist movement was am extremely important step to the modern human condition and the events which we are all facing. Minds like Tesla, Manly Hall, Jung, Edgar Casey, amongst countless others, I'm seeing a renewed interest and influence as the counter to the Materialistic lack of Spirituality in society today. Introspection is key in this time, he who knows himself, can thus begin to understand others and effect a positive change.
Be a part of this crucial time, you were selected to be here right here, right now. Be well

Actually, Steiner encouraged people to question and find out for themselves anything he said. His aim was to make free the individual and their thought life.

marko m. There's nothing inherently wrong about the acknowledgement that not all things and beings are in the exact same state. No one feels any antagonism when it is said that one chemical element is slightly more refined than another, why would it suddenly be so when the implication is made that the subraces of mankind aren't enterily equal in every regard.

Steiner was a contemplator of the Biblical scriptures and had much to say about the Christ, and the 4 gospels, particularly the first chapter of John. The scriptures make the astounding (to me) assertion that the lamb was slain from the foundation of the world (the revelation 13:8). I'm not putting forth a theory on evil here, just saying that this scripture presented itself to my consciousness in steinerian fashion, as I listened to this lecture, as something to ponder.

Pertinent to the title of this video, I believe, is the Rudolf Steiner Audio series of lectures titled "From Jesus to Christ", most specifically (and pointing to that portion of content about which could be cautioned: "spoiler alert"), the last 10 minutes of the last lecture (lecture 10). However, I don't consider this an actual "spoiler", because such concepts must be arrived at "line upon line, precept upon precept" (as the Bible says) and by allowing such thoughts and feelings "to work upon one" over days, weeks, months, years, lifetimes..." (as Steiner says).

  • @MrDoremouse

If there were not evil, we would all be angels on clouds. I suppose evil could be justified if it was all part of a plan. Rumi talked of us being stone, then vegetable, then animal, then human. He said he would progress from human to angel, to something greater than angel. If everybody's evolution is predestined, evil would eventually just be a bad memory (probably not a memory at all) and wouldn't ''matter.'' Traditional Christianity does poor job of ''justifying'' suffering, to my mind.

" in the light of truth " by abdrushin gives clear explanation on the topic of how evil came into material worlds. İ understood that evil came into material worlds as humanity started gradually to rely purely on his intellect and slowly moved away from relying on his spiritual insight. İn time he set the intellect above his living spirit. Relying only on intellect and allowing the intellect to decide all his actions. His spirit became cut- off from the living light. This estrangment led to imbalance and creation of all the evils on earth. Evil is the work of the intellect, the over reliance on intellect which made the neglected spirit weak. Mamkind abandon his spirit and became an intellectual earth bound creature generally unable to understand anything spiritual. The spirit in itself is pure and knows no darkness. The weak spirit that is dominated by the intellect is the source of all evils on earth. This is how i understood it and i believe this to be correct because one could easily see this happening everwhere here on earth right now.

Evil is not riddling it is but god's multiple qualities trying to understand how the fractal constituents in the a divine being is not based on the complex of logic. Evil or what the tongue thinks it is not a hindrance it is but a physical stimulation the lost of source. Love is not an emotion it is a state of being of worship of wisdom. How does one get rid of evil one does not conceptualize thought patterns regulaing what is poision or what is good. The chaotic order is an evolving frequency.

“In order to have a feeling for what is good, we must also have a feeling for what is bad... Without evil, we would have no free choice for the good. No freedom. The good could have become reality without Lucifer, but not freedom.
In order to choose the good, we must also have evil before us. It must exist within us as self love. When the sense of self love has widened and become love of all, evil will be overcome. Evil and freedom stem from the same original source. Lucifer kindled human enthusiasm for the divine... Lucifer brought light to human beings by kindling in them the light of wisdom, mingled within them, albeit, the black shadow of evil. The evil Lucifer brings is shrunken and blemished, but it penetrates into mortals. He brings external science that triggers egoism. That is why selflessness, in regards to knowledge, is demanded of the esoteric student.
Lucifer comes from the old planet. His task on this one is comparable to what the leaven of the old dough means to the new bread.
Evil is a good removed from its proper place. What was good on the old planet is no longer so when transferred to ours. The absolute good on one planet brings part of itself as evil to a new planet.
Evil is a necessary part of evolution. One ought not to say that the world is imperfect or incomplete because it contains evil. Rather, it is complete for that very reason.
When a painting depicts wonderful beings of light together with dark devils, the picture would be spoiled if the devils were removed.
The world creator needed evil in order that good could evolve. A good is only good if has stood the test of evil. For love to reach its highest goal - the love of all -it must pass through the love of self.
In “Faust,” Goethe causes Metastopheles to say , ‘I am an aspect of the power that always intends evil and always creates good.’”
    - Philosopher Rudolf Steiner, “The Origin of Evil.” From "Supersensible Knowledge 13 lectures in Berlin and Cologne, Oct. 11, 1906 - Apr. 26, 1907 by Rudolf Steiner. (CW 55)"

It's humans who bring evil, which is the lack of feeling and compassion. We've got 10 Commandments and the sayings of the prophets and Jesus but we'd rather disregard them and make up our own values. That's relativism leading to solipsism to cynicism .It ends up as Raskolnikov philosophy=the right to do whatever you want barring nothing.I'm with Leibniz. Some people here will be telling me there's no just God next-shock,horror,you're too clever. If you can't see the sea, does that mean there's no sea?

Steiner gives me the creeps a little, as he was buried in O.T.O. ceremonial regalia (O.T.O. are occult ).
There are 2 creation stories in Genesis. The first teaches (by implication) that the world was made out of pre-existent evil matter; the second teaches the Fall of Adam and Eve. If Boehme is right that evil is necessary, could the first Gen. story be teaching that? Two sides of the same coin? I know little about Boehme and should learn more about his ideas.

Christian ? Do not go that way. Steiner's Philosophy [his school] sooner or later it will point you in the direction of openness to the forces which does not know or understand. Dedication and opening-up is tantamount to apostasy. However, the same knowledge and understanding - in my humble opinion - is not a negative and a man can develop. However, if development in this direction is needed for us here on earth? ...There is something [we know], but no key or way to a successful life it is...

  • @nicktrice3129

Evil is fundamentally a disconnection to humanity, Life, and therefore the Source of All Life. In such a state, the evil consciousness has no Grace, and must therefore rely only upon its own power, which leads naturally to the ruthlessness and competition destroying the world today.
Iniquity is not mysterious, but it is a mystery.

There is no such thing as good or bad, only thinking makes it so.
Words like good, evil, sin, are just nouns, a way of speaking and nothing more. There are no nouns in the physical world, and as seeing that which is in heaven is as it is on earth, then there are no nouns in the heaven either, no nouns in the spirit world.

Oh I can visualize it, but what I mean is, because I take a ''God'' or Higher Power as a given, it is obvious to me that suffering must have a purpose precisely because we are not on clouds, and COULD BE hypothetically. Because that's NOT how it is, there must be a reason, because if it was, there'd be no suffering. No Rumi wasn't saying plants, animals, and humans are evil.If anything he was a pantheist who thought they were manifestations of God.

evil is rather a badly timed Good from steiner's point of view as he puts it ...
evil doesnt exist in Eternity .. it does in time
has 2 or rather 2 faces .. the yet untimed and untimed .. too far in the future
he called it lucifer =warm evil = negative feminity .. and reaches too far in the past .. ahirman = cold evil = negative masculinity ...
Steiner declared the asuras as well as a thrid way way ancient form of evil ..
      as spiritis of pure destruction

and where they exist in creation
      in sub - human levels
lucifer lives in magnetism ... ahriman in electricity ... and asuras are probably in nukes

Good to hear you read this there young man as I read him a long time ago and still come back to him now and then. Watch out for Boehme it is German and you pronunciation is not correct but that is ok you can take some German and clear that up and learn to read Steiner his own language.

there is no evil. the idea of evil is an illusion. and the illusion arises when one forgets or disconnects or SEPARATES oneself from the source. the source maybe experienced when the one loses the self. to lose the self one has to stop thinking, gradually.

Jedi Mind i agree. Evil only exists on a polarity reality which is trancended by stilling the mind and reconciliation of opposites. Alchemy/transmutation. The world is perfect. If you try to change it you will ruin it. (Not really ruin, it stir shit up).

It is easy to take refuge in relativism, but I don't think the optimal path lies through denial. Though illusion is not what it seems, the illusion itself still exists as illusion.
And the path from unconsciousness to the conscious experience of the infinite reality still lies through illusion.
Ultimately what we call evil or good are things that accordingly hinder or advance the progression.
Evil does exist in this sense.

Evil comes in two parts: 1) Accidental (or incidental) evil. Any action performed in the material world consists of both "good" and "evil" as they are tied to a paradigm. In this circumstance, one would not necessarily know when s/he has committed evil. For example, you eat an apple and you have deprived a worm of that same apple. That might seem "evil" to the worm, or allies of worms. The worm might die, depriving the robin, depriving the cat, etc. 2) Intentional evil is when one is aware of the paradigm in which one is operating and deliberately performs an act with the intention (stress on "intention") to commit harm or go against the good within that defined paradigm. That is true evil.

@EyesofNeurosis Whoah there!! ! O.K. ,I used to go to evangelical churches so I was told there that the 'occult' is bad, whether it's Hebrew or Swahili or Chinese, so I think it's unfair to call me anti-Semitic ! Jewish Christians are anti-Kabbalah. Maybe you're just a hater of Christians ? I don't 'hate' occultists. I watch the vid because I'm not satisfied with tradition Christian explanations of suffering.I'm trying to consider many viewpoints. Sorry if my remarks caused any offence.

I think the media is a lot to blame for ideas being a ''contest.'' It's that yes or no right or wrong debate in politics, religion, everything ! Personally I wouldn't trust someone who had come up with ''answers'' just thinking on their own.Like the mind of ''God'' is gonna be discerned thru the cut and thrust of debate or Socratic dialogue. Nah ! Like I say, Sufis and the Upanishads of Hinduism have always seemed very cheery to me, even tho I use 'Christian' as label for myself.

There's no such thing as good and evil in reality. There's positive and negative that's what holds all of Creation in perfect balance. Good and evil exist in the mind of the dead. Did you know you are dead?
Who are the Builder's that toil to build the Kingdom for the Father of lies in this world? By what wisdom have the symbols and images and the Idols of stone been brought into this world? Who has declared that darkness is the true light? By what name is the GOD of the dead called the GOD of good and evil?
God is the God of the living not the dead.
It's amazing listening to how wrong the Builder's of Freemasonry understanding truly is and how they taught it one to another making it up as they went to cover up the facts and present new claims about how they are the Superior Mind ruling over the animal body which is the meaning of the Sphinx. And here you thought I was going to say the Chosen People and Manifest Destiny. It's the same claim. It's nothing new look how long they've been milking the golden cash cow. They love money like no other. Where's your brother Cain?

morality is subjective. What I deem evil and what many of us deem evil is typically an accepted norm throughout most of society. It is not a religious issue because each religion has a subjective guide for morality. Atheists, like myself, are no different than the average person who accepts religion as we all share a common moral ground. But again it is subjective. A drug addict may view their habit as morally right or wrong depending on their circumstances, but to most of us it is wrong.
