That the Russian wanted to take Kyiv, that's a lot of speculation. That didn't, it's no victory for Ukraine. What's needed is that all these efforts spent by for the world leaders in meeting here, talking there, or sending billion to arm Ukraine, all of these efforts could have been spent talking with Putin to find a good ground to stop the war. However, it would be naïve to believe the sincerity of those leaders to really see peace settle when they're selfishly gaining some huge profit in that mess.

Have you been to war? Taking two weeks of this brutality is already a lot. The Ukrainian soldiers are not getting rotated at the front like western armies do in Afghanistan.

Bomb removal and disposal has got to be one of the most stressful jobs even for a trained soldier but to be put into the situation with little or any training must have freaked him out. It takes a very special few to take on such a task.

In ww2 most service men and woman were just ordinary people thrown into the deep end .

@@janschkeuditz6065 Nice fake account my father served in WW2 and was a combat engineer. He had to be trained after basic in explosive handling and setting up temporary bridges. Explosive handling was not a simple job and not something you can learn in a few days. But go on about something you know nothing about OK.
Yeah this is probably going to be more and more standard in the war. Especially as the more skilled people naturally have unfortunately been killed so far and by the time the war has ended, Ukraine and the foreign volunteers will be working their way down the line to the more inexperienced people. So it is up to them to train even harder and faster as it goes on to get up to scratch. Of course Ukraine needs more and more de-miners in order to clear the roads, forests and fields which will be crucial in the months and years ahead considering how many are probably laid each day. Every week they sit in the fields is more time wasted that agriculture needs in order to rebuild the country’s economy. Considering how many billions it will need to save it economy after the war, they unfortunate to take as many risks as possible to clear as many of these deadly time bombs as they can. Is quite shameful that he didn’t seem to realise at the time before he left so that it would be his responsibility to follow any orders given, and that could include land mine clearing, especially as he wasn’t doing it any more dangerously than people had to do in WWII. But thankfully, based on what we learned at the end of this video, he must’ve realised this as well and realised that it was selfish of him to think that way initially and has returned considering everyone else doesn’t have that kind of luxurious choice. I hope he’s still alright and helping his best he can.

It was easier to shoot farmers and unskilled terrorists in afghanistan or Iraq, but on Ukraine its full modern combat where they are facing very well trained soldiers equipped with modern weapons supported by aerial recon via drones.

There's report of Ukrainian not letting foreign fighters leave, so you should make sure you want to be part of this before joining.
Why would they let you leave? You signed a contract, you are now serving in the Ukrainian army, leaving means desertion. So why should they let people leave?
You can volunteer in ways that are not the legion, like rebuilding or aid in Poland / Western Ukraine. But yes the Legion is a unit in the Ukranian army that you sign a contract to join...
If you join the British army you can't run away without telling anyone as that is desertion, let alon in a warzone with a fight for the countries existance. You can leave though, you saw these guys were given official sign off... They're not throwing people in as cannon fodder, that serves no purpose and Ukraine cares about their soldiers unlike Russia.
A lot has changed since the chaotic start of the war, things are more organised for volunteers.

They found something positive for their live
The biggest problem that foreign volunteer soldiers find is the lack of cohesion in leadership and battlefield focus/direction. Many are sent into territorial defense units without interpreters to hold re-captured territory and become totally disillusioned with the lack of discipline and leadership. The lack of understanding of the volunteers previous experience and refusal to commit them into a battlefield where they're suited has made many leave Ukraine. Look at the famous Canadian sniper 'Wali' for instance.....was there for 2 months in a trench and only shot 2 rounds and wasn't even issued a sniper rifle. Those volunteers who've found their way into more professional English speaking units with interpreters/radio operators who have access to proper fire support have done very well.

It’s not being Canon fodder. It’s just a war between two large nations. This is not the same as Iraq and Afghanistan. These kinds of numbers and consequences of war or just unfortunately unescapable whether we like it or not. It’s simply a case now of the morality and how we can mitigate the numbers. Scarcity and supplies and soldiers having to rush enemy positions firing on you is just a natural Side Effect of this. Yes, men have to put themselves at risk against an enemy they know is firing on them, but there is a difference between doing that and then just throwing bodies upon bodies at the enemy without caring about them like the Russians do. We’ve just got to get used to that unfortunately. Our grandparents did and now so shall we.
Have read that there are military experts that sort out volunteers with and without military experience into fighting arm and support arm for the UA. Don't know if these guys have served previously in their respective military.
I’m all for people volunteering, but I wish people would be honest with themselves about what they can really do when they’re over there. Not all volunteer jobs require you to be at the front. There is so much else you can do to contribute.

This is not close to the average situation here. However, sadly there are poor led units which there should be none. Clearly there should be a more professional approach in all situations in respect to not only the Int'l Legion but anything related to the entire military and if there is one failure it would be leadership in the training and usage of all military elements at all times. Thankfully this alleged situation I believe to be more uncommon than not. It all falls into one problem overall and it's leadership. Without leadership there is nothing but rabble and unfortunate needless losses that could be otherwise avoided. This is just common sense for any military organization no matter the nation. I appreciate these guys want to help Ukraine and risking their lives to do it, not sure if that is true courage, or stupidity , maybe both. But I'm getting an impression Alex didn't quite think things through with his load-out and kit because he's hauling around a semi-auto service rifle in a non-standard caliber! Russian/Ukrainian standard small arms take 5.45 mm and to a lesser extent 7.62 x 39 and meanwhile Alex is shown (at around 2:30) hauling around his trusty M1A/M14 in 7.62 NATO?! The AK74 isn't the most accurate rifle but I'd surely grab one of those instead of this 4 foot long dinosaur of a service rifle. Mainly because, WDYD when you run dry mid fire-fight, all your pals are loaded to the gills with 5.45 and the nearest ammo you can actually fire might be three towns over?!

Ukraine has M14 rifles they mostly use for training but handed some of them out to foreign volunteers since they lacked rifles from handling out their stocks to civilians in the beginning.
From what it seems there's difference stuff floating around difference regions. I've heard some places you can't find 7.62x39, some places there's plenty of 5.56, some none. This isn't a standard conflict. There's politics, palm greasing, and gun running bureaucracy influencing how and what gets where and when.
Unless you're there you wouldnt know.. Ukraine has bullpups chambered in 556 not hard to imagine them having 7.62 NATO when Ukraine has been receiving foriegn aid from NATO..
