Choosing Calimoto to lead us on a motorcycle tour around the UK, it ultimately led us to Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass.Together they are a tick on the box for any motorcyclists' bucket list.
Grab a beer, sit back and enjoy the trip through amazing scenery of the Lake District which, in places, offered up challenging roads along the way.

I live in north Manchester and, even though I'm 69 I ride Hardnot on every bike that I have owned, from 125 2 strokes to what I have now (bmw r1250rs). Yesterday 24th may 23, I did it both ways. An amazing road! I had my bike in 'rain' mode, soft throttle and max traction control, no problem at all. I reckon that if you can ride Hardnot then you can do any tarmacked road in Europe!

Hey Keith, thank you for your comment - a rider with proper riding experience! 🙌 If I had time, I would love to ride it both ways, again and again. While my motorcycle doesn't possess such wonderful riding aids, I felt it was a bit of an achievement for my first-time ride up feet up. You're right, though; if you can ride the Hardknott Pass, then you can do others, as I unexpectedly had to after encountering a closed road in France recently. After riding the Hardknott Pass, it gave me the confidence to ride this single-tracked side road with steep inclines and tight hairpins which was certainly a bit more challenging.

Brilliant video. Your reactions to the roads and scenery were mint. I've been over them a few times in a car, but not on a bike , till this year. Its a bit of an arsenal twitcher, but it's alot easier than in a car. Going back next year with 3 mates, none of them have ever been. Think they're going to be blown away.

Sorry for the tardy reply - hopefully I will be in a position to be back on it soon. Thank for your comment. You can't lie on camera. It is what it is and I would love to do it again, and again. Enjoy, but importantly, ride safe - some turns are challenging. 😉👍🏼

Good video, I rode pillion on the back of my partner's XJR1300 up the hard knott pass a few years back. Frightening for me but he just took it in his stride. He has been riding bikes though for 40 odd years. 😁

Not the easiest of climbs but full respect to anyone with a large bike.

You picked a nice day to ride those passes. I've seen a couple needing the air ambulance after they toppled over the edge there! It's tricky with off camber hair pins.
At about 10 mins 50 there is a large pull in on the decent of Hard Knott and from there it's only a short scramble up to the roman fort.

Sorry for the tardy reply - had a lot on my plate since last year but hopefully back to it soon. It was a good day, that's for sure. Next time, I'll note the Roman Fort.
