Great video Ben. 12 years in here scalping the ES. You are so right at trading what you are good at. Today (Friday) the massive bars and almost straight up move I'm not good at those type of days and I shut down about noon with no trades. I'll come back Monday hoping for a more oscillating trading range (or bear trend) type market with more normal size bars. For some reason I love down days and have much more confidence shorting.
I have a lot of problems going short. I like longs. Lol

I just hit my 2 year mark of trading and I just turned the corner towards profitability and it's not much yet. That leveling off of losing heading towards winning was long for me. Very long period of losing less and less and then breaking even basically was very long. I guess 2 years isn't too bad though from what I've read..I still paper trade AFTER i trade my real money. I practice the same strategies I'm using on my real account and I'll paper trade during the slower hours too. For sure the slow hours will trick you and stop you out way more than the busy times

Yea that’s exactly how I’m feeling. A pattern can present and look identical to a previous winner I had but it will do the opposite of what it did before and this back and forth mind game is keeping me from solidifying my confidence. How did you over come this feeling you speak of?
@@JonBelcherStation I over came by being patient, by being patient, so many pieces come together, your emotions cool down, you simply wait for your kind of set ups, and also by believing in my own abilities to do technical analysis and trust my analysis and set ups then taking actions on those set ups.

As a scalper I never miss out on anything. I'm happy I don't have that stress that I missed out on a move. I just need to make a few points here and there. And I trade futures. The market is open 23 hours a day. I don't have fear because as a scalper, I work with tight SL. Losing trades are part of the game. If I have 2 losing trades in a row, I do something wrong or the market is too volatile for my tight SL. I walk away. Remember the market is open 23 hours a day. I can come back later.
