I also want to build a thing like this, but with electric lift, like i did on my table saw build.. Anyway..thanks for the inspiration and greets from Germany.

Great stuff. I love this build. Can anyone explain to me what the shock absorbers are doing in this build? It looks like it would function without them, but I'm sure they must be doing something, this is so well thought out and executed that I'm sure I must be wrong about this. Thanks for any help understanding.
maybe he's hoping either the vibrations would be absorbed so it won't vibrate out of the height he wants to sand in and/or he's not using acme rods (I can't tell) so he needs something to help smooth the turns/take the weight of the drum.
Вроде все хорошо, но стоило предусмотреть устройство натяжения цепи. В этом случае было бы проще юстировать положение барабана, сначала юстировка, потом одел цепь и натянул. А так придется как-то выходить из положения.
