Today I want to continue my summer decorating series here in the living room...but with a focus on the Fourth of July. So let's talk inspiration...I want you to picture a historic New England home, that was decorated by Ralph Lauren. I'll be using a couple types of buntings, one from Amazon and one that I made myself...a vintage flag that belonged to my grandparents...as well as some fantastic prints that are perfect for the 4th. We'll change out pillow covers and add pops of blue and white hear and there. And by the end I hope that I will given y'all some ideas, that maybe you haven't considered for your own Independence Day decor.

DIY bunting scarf:
This 9' long bunting scarf is one of my favorite sewing projects that I have done in a really long time and believe it or not I spent less than $10 on the materials to make it. I bought one yard each of red, white and blue broadcloth fabric at Joann's for $2.99 a yard. I cut 3 strips from each color across the length of the fabric at 8" wide and then sewed the strips together to make one long strip. Then of course I sewed all three long strips together to form the bunting that you see. If you have basic sewing machine skills, like I do, this is a totally doable project that will add so much patriotic style to your home.

The print with Adams, Franklin and Jefferson working on these documents revealed their intelligence, wisdom and character…..and God’s Hands were overseeing all of it! I like the prints of our Founders! Great Idea, but you know... I would use them in my future English Country library/den that I hope to have in my new house.....or even if I have to turn a spare bedroom into one, lol, to house some items that I have inherited.

The Patriotic touches are so nice. Plenty of inspiration and ideas for our home. Love the items from your Grandparents and the stories that went along with them. Thanks for sharing. The step stool instead of standing on the dining chairs made me chuckle; we have a folding step stool and my hubby still grabs a chair.

Great job on the Bunting, like really pretty! Girl I have that same step stool and I'm still forever standing on my bar stools🫣 Yes i know that's not smart, especially at my age, weigh a bad back and legs that cramp quite often throughout the day😑my husband gets on to me, but i grab whatever is closest by habit 🤷♀️ What branch of the military were you grandparents in? My dad was a WWII purple heart marine vet! My parents married well after he was out, they were in previous marriages right after the war. Forever cherish those things that were your grandparents, if give anything to have what was rightfully mine of my parents & grandparents, it breaks my heart💔😢 (Siblings don't always do the right thing.) Lol at least the sofa would be a soft landing!😄 I have a smaller set of Abraham Lincoln & Mrs Lincoln framed silhouettes, the actual silhouettes are made from cast iron, and framed in ornate gold frames.. they stay out year round! Love the new prints! I have a couple of coffee table books on antiques that have several prints that are patriotic. I bought them knit just for the coffee table, but to use some of the prints to frame! The hydrangeas are gorgeous!❤ Everything looks so pretty.. you done a great job! Hello sweet friend!!! Trust me, old habits die hard and I’m sure I will still grab the chair from time to time. 😂 Both of my grandparents served in the army…and I’m so grateful to have various pieces from their time of service. I am an only child and only grandchild, so I was blessed to be able to take home any and everything that I wanted from their estates. I can’t imagine having to defer to other family members or worrying that things won’t be cared for and loved the way I would. That isn’t lost on me. Those silhouettes of the Lincoln’s sound amazing! Thank you so much for always supporting me…I’m beyond grateful! ❤️

I have so much to say about this video! Lol. First of all, I love the scarf you sewed. It, along with everything else, turned out beautiful. Secondly, I loved your outfit today 😊 oh, and I also end up with feathers all over the couch. I was just picking them off mine yesterday lol. Lastly, I have my grandfather's picture album from his time in the war just like that one you were looking through. I always thought the black paper pages were so neat! Also, thanks for sharing the buntings. I've been on the hunt for some. I ordered them and they will arrive tomorrow. Oh, one last thing! Lol wow! I couldn't understand how he knew that ! He said he told his friend at work today that I was going to ride with him in the morning and go to goodwill in Beaumont and his friend told him about the new one in Lumberton. So! Looks like I'll be making it there tomorrow after all 😂
