      Just so you know you were completely wrong about them being the only D1 school with 4 colors. Ole Miss (The greatest school ever) also happens to be my Alma mater and they have 4 official school colors as well. Red, Navy, White and Powder Blue.

    Maryland took a huge jump once they started getting that BIG TEN money!!! Campus didn't look like this when I took my visit years ago when they were in the ACC. That $50 million per year has paid off big time.

      Schools generate direct revenues from ticket sales, merchandise, donations and other sources. They're not getting that money just from tuition costs.

    If the Maryland alum Sergei Brin, one of the founders of Google, would step up as an athletic department donor, Maryland would have the best facilities in college football. But Brin is smart, he only donates to the academic departments. Who can blame him.

    Our student to faculty ratios are through the roof, leading to huge class sizes and less engagement with individual students. We have to turn away prospective computer science students due to a lack of resources. But I’m glad the football program has customized barbells and plates.

    In every one of these videos I see people who attend the university complaining about the state of the other areas of the school. People don’t understand boosters, and generous donations to the football specifically is the reason they can have this. Also, the football team funds a lot of stuff around the university with as much money as it brings in.

    Wow! So cool they can spend hundreds of millions on a sport we're bad at while kids are still getting sick from the moldy dorms! It's so great my tuition is helping the team I've never watched, while the engineering department I'm a part of can't get new computers that can run the software we need to use! Amazing!

      I get you, but a lot of the money used to pay for this came from money made by the athletics department through marketing, ticket sales, etc. That money legally CAN"T be used for anything other than the athletics department, so It's gotta go somewhere. Trust me, I would rather have them tear down and rebuild all of the Old North side dorms rather than a new Basketball training facility and Baseball team House, but that money HAS to go to those because it belongs to Maryland Athletics.

    The Maryland flag is a combination of two family flags: The Calverts (back and gold) and the Carrolls (red and white) not the Cross family as the lady in the video stated. She needs to know the history of the school and state before she represents the

    So this is why tuition has increased by 42% over the past ten years. Not to revamp old buildings or old dorms that DONT EVEN HAVE AC IN THEM, but to build something that will give our mediocre football team a dedicated building that nobody else is going to use because we already have a huge fucking gym in north campus; what the hell is happening here

    Could we compare this to the quality, spaciousness and cleanliness of the chemistry lab? This is an embarrassment. I'm a grad of UMD and I thought it was supposed to be a place of higher learning. The jocks have a music studio? I want an audit undertaken of the UMD sports budget to determine where the funds for these excesses came from.

    For those pissy about the price tag, schools generate direct revenues from ticket sales, merchandise, donations and other sources. The price of the facility doesn't just come from Tuition prices. Alot of it comes from Donations, Merchandise, and ticket sails. I'm sorry to say, but without that football/sports team generating extra revenue your college campus would suck.
