During DJ Paul's recent interview with VladTV, the 37-year-old Mafia member relives the moments where he and the rest of the crew should have been dead because of the lifestyle they led in their prime.
The group was the first rap crew to talk about hardcore drugs like cocaine and syrup, and DJ Paul is quick to say that they weren't just rapping about it. "One thing that should have killed us that we used to do a lot was getting high off cocaine for three to four days straight then take Tylenol PMs to go to sleep," Paul remembers.
From weekly binges to a car accident that nearly killed them all, Three Six Mafia has cut it close quite a few times, and fortunately for them (and us) those nights on the edge didn't end it all. Watch as DJ Paul reminisces about it all above.

I don't thinks it's impossible to overdose on lean. It's extremely weak. Usually it's codeine, which is weak as hell. Even strong syrup is weak hydrodcodone. You would have to drink gallons of the shit to od and would probably throw up because your stomach was to full.

Had to take a buddy to the ER one night when he ODed on lean back in 2015.
They placed him in the pysch watch for evaluation. Doctor told him he's probably already done irreversible damage to his liver at this point from the cough syrup.
But the doctor wasn't messing around. He told my friend if he ended back into that pysch ward again, then that doctor would put a guardian on buddy.
Well a few months later, my friend ended up in the hospital again. They don't mess around with this stuff in Missouri. My buddy was put into a long term care facility about 4 years ago. He's getting close to 30 years old now and Idk when he'll get out.

Got out of some felonies and when I got clear of felonies never went back to hard shit because the hard shit has you around stupid people. Three 6 was def not the first to rap about hardcore drugs or syrup. In Memphis, I don't remember anybody that idolized cocaine from the jump more than Lil Fly/Playa Fly. For syrup, you can listen to any old Houston rap and hear them talk about lean all the time.

Im from philly and I remember when I first heard of these guys, actually I heard project pat and was like "these niggas corny fuck that down south shit" so my ass bought the album when the smoke clears as a joke but then I actually listened to the whole album and fell in love wit 3 6 from there on out. As well as other south artist best decision ever as far as music.
